Falling back to the default frontend vs falling back to the latest frontend

What problem are you experiencing?

I am using --front-end-version Comfy-Org/ComfyUI_frontend@latest
and for some reason (probably a conncetion issue from my end)
Comfy failed to initialize frontend: 403 Client Error: rate limit exceeded for url: https://api.github.com/repos/Comfy-Org/ComfyUI_frontend/releases/latest

but should the fallback be the latest frontend instead of the default one?
I have 1.27.1 and 1.27.2 already installed but Comfy decided to launch frontend version: 1.25.11

When does this problem occur?

Example:
ComfyUI version: 0.3.57
Initializing frontend: Comfy-Org/ComfyUI_frontend@latest, requesting version details from GitHub...

When ComfyUI can't fetch the latest frontend version from GitHub (for example, due to API rate limits), it falls back to the default frontend version—even if you have newer versions installed locally. This is intentional and has been acknowledged by maintainers as the current behavior; there’s no logic to check for or use the latest locally installed version in this scenario see issue #941.

If you want to avoid this fallback, you can either specify a particular frontend version with --front-end-version Comfy-Org/ComfyUI_frontend@1.27.2, or use --front-end-root to point directly to a local frontend folder see discussion. The fallback logic itself is handled by the main ComfyUI backend, not the frontend repo.
