V3.0.0 - The Pi-hole V6 Update + Fixes

With the recent release of Pi-hole V6, some big changes have been made to how the system handles API authentication, security, and system control.

As such, you'll need to go to https://{Pi-hole IP address}/admin/settings/api on your Pi-hole instance and click the Configure App Password button to generate a random app password to proceed.

Breaking Configuration Changes

• API_KEY is now APP_PASS to better reflect what secret is being used for API access
• Preface the URL with https:// since Pi-hole now ships with a self-signed cert
• Remove the /admin suffix from the Pi-hole URL so that it's just the root domain/IP (e.g. https://pi.hole or https://10.0.0.10)

Examples

$ adblock-control -app_pass=XXYYZZ -url='https://pi.hole' -port=9000

$ docker run --rm -p 8080:8080 -e APP_PASS=XXYYZZ -e URL='https://pi.hole' coordspace/adblock-control:latest

v1.0.0 - Initial release

After running this without issue on my local network with a docker-compose + traefik based setup since 2020, it's time to share it with the world.
