God of War 3 Launcher - alpha 6

Pre-release

What's new

  • New: Start game without loading shaders in the launcher. The game starts at once and builds each shader the first time it's needed, instead of first loading the whole shader cache (by now about 3 minutes). After loading a save or entering a new area, some objects can appear a moment late.
  • Fixed: the game could freeze in a fight after a longer session (the picture stopped and the controller kept vibrating).
  • Fixed: crashes from running out of memory in later areas, for example right after saving, in the City of Olympia or on the Path of Eos. The app now needs far less memory: about 1 GB instead of 2 GB at the launcher menu, and about 3.5 GB instead of 4.5 GB in play. A leak that grew by several hundred MB per hour of play is gone.
  • If a texture still doesn't fit into memory, older textures are dropped and loaded again later, instead of the game stopping.

Alpha for the Xbox Series X|S in Developer Mode (not the Xbox One). It contains no game files: you need your own dump of God of War III Remastered (tested: CUSA01715).

Install

  1. Unzip on a PC.
  2. Device Portal → Add → the .appx and the package in Dependencies. If Dev Home lists the app as an App, set its type to Game.
  3. Copy your dump (the folder with eboot.bin, sce_module, sce_sys and dvdroot_ps4) to a USB drive (any folder; the app looks in \dumps\GodOfWar3 by itself and otherwise asks you to choose the folder once) or to the console's internal storage anywhere under D:\DevelopmentFiles (found by itself).
  4. Start God of War 3 Launcher: Prepare (once), Precompile shaders (once, recommended), then Start game. The menu shows the game folder it uses; Choose game folder lists the dumps the app found and can browse a USB drive.
Start game first loads every shader the game has used so far (longer the further you play); Start game without loading shaders starts at once and builds each shader when the game first needs it, so some objects can appear a moment late after loading.

In the game, RS + LT (click the right stick while holding the left trigger) opens the menu.

Installs over earlier builds and keeps your saves and settings. Credits

What's new

  • Fixed: the game could get stuck on the loading screen (Omega icon) or freeze while a new area loads, for example when loading a save at the Three Judges. It kept rendering but never continued

What's new

  • Higher frame rate on the Series X: about 52–53 fps on average at 720p instead of 42; 57–60 in lighter scenes
  • Even frame pacing: the game's 60 Hz clock no longer jitters, so scenes that hold their frame rate no longer judder
  • Fewer hitches: about half as many frames over 40 ms when the game writes memory the GPU uses
  • "Loading shader cache" takes about 1 minute instead of 2 (a little longer on the first start after updating)

What's new

  • The game no longer has to be in \dumps\GodOfWar3 on a USB drive: any folder on a USB drive works. If the app does not find the game, it opens the Xbox file browser so you can choose the folder once; the app remembers it
  • The game can be on the console's internal storage: put the dump anywhere under D:\DevelopmentFiles (for example by FTP) and the app finds it by itself
  • The launcher shows which game folder it uses. Choose game folder lists the dumps it found (internal storage and USB) and can browse a USB drive

What's new

  • Now based on SpartanPort (formerly gow3_pc) as of 20 Oct 2026: fewer frame drops during Rage of Sparta and other effects, yellow ground after Poseidon and white rocks in Gaia's heart fixed, corrected half-resolution buffer at 720p and 900p, smoother play when the CPU is busy
  • In-game menu on the controller: RS + LT (Automatic QTE, vibration strength, texture filtering, cheats, overlay)
  • Render resolution in the menu: 720p (default), 900p, 1080p or 4K, applied at the next start; 4K may run out of memory in heavy scenes
  • Overlay with FPS and memory, on by default (Overlay tab)
  • Dumps with unpacked ELF files work
  • After updating, press Prepare once more; the first start then rebuilds the shader cache, which can take a few minutes
