q652 — DLC and title updates, the easy way

DLC and title updates, the easy way

  • Put DLC and title updates next to your games. When you start a game, the app lists the packages for it in your games folder that are not installed yet and offers to Install them (or launch without them). Start the game again and they are active. Tested with Halo: Reach TU1: the menu shows version 1.1 afterwards.
  • Or install by hand from the Content tab of the library (any CON, LIVE or PIRS package: DLC, title updates, saves, profiles, arcade games). Each game's options → Manage content lists what is installed and removes it.
  • Imported saves now work: save packages went to the wrong place and games never found them. They now go to your signed-in profile.
  • Everything from q651 is here too: WWE 2K14 playable with savestates, the built-in community patch catalog with Import, and less audio crackle.
  • Your settings are kept.

Tested on a POCO X7 Pro (Dimensity 8400, Mali-G720). Players report the POCO X8 Pro working too.

q651 — WWE 2K14 playable, game patches, less audio crackle

WWE 2K14 playable, game patches, less audio crackle

  • WWE 2K14 is playable. Matches no longer crash as they start: they run at 39–43 fps in the ring, entrances at 24–30. The game checks where a ranged physical memory allocation lands, so it now gets a per-game setting that places it the way the console does. Thanks for the report in #3!
  • Savestates in WWE 2K14 too. Games that keep the handle of a thread that has already finished could not be saved; finished threads are now stored as such and never resumed.
  • Game patches work again. The app now ships the whole community patch catalog (500+ games): open a game's options → Game patches, switch on what you want, and it applies at the next start. Have a .patch.toml that is not in the catalog? Tap Import on the same screen. The file must belong to that game (same title ID). Thanks for the report in #4!
  • Less audio crackle. When a game runs slightly behind real time, the audio used to repeat its last block in a loop, which sounds like a buzz. It now waits a moment for a small buffer and fades back in. The realtime audio callback no longer waits on a lock, and the limiter is softer.
  • Your settings are kept; the new defaults apply automatically.

Tested on a POCO X7 Pro (Dimensity 8400, Mali-G720). Players report the POCO X8 Pro working too.

q646 — Halo: Reach at a steady 30 fps

@DEGROUCHO DEGROUCHO released this 01 Nov 12:23

Halo: Reach at a steady 30 fps

  • Halo: Reach holds a steady 30 fps, its own cap, and stays smooth even when the phone runs hot. The GPU memory-export path copied the same pages again for every particle draw, 24–34 MB per frame; now each page is copied once, 0.1–0.3 MB. In the same scene, slow frames dropped from 309 to 57.
  • No more one-frame flicker of rocks, trees and characters, in every game. With fake occlusion queries the visible-sample count could walk down to zero, so a game could think an object was hidden and draw its low-detail model for a frame. The count now always reads as clearly visible.
  • Fewer render-target copies in Halo: Reach: resolves go straight from depth, gamma and other-format render targets (4 → 0 EDRAM dumps per frame).
  • Your settings are kept; the new defaults apply automatically.
  • Same app as q636.2: Xbox 360-style library, one-tap FPS limit, clear statistics.

Tested on a POCO X7 Pro (Dimensity 8400, Mali-G720). Players report the POCO X8 Pro working too, and the Xiaomi 15T has the same chip.

XenDroid Ultimate Mali q636.2: one swipe, one game

Choose a tag to compare

@DEGROUCHO DEGROUCHO released this 01 Nov 01:21

A small follow-up to q636.1, on the same q636 emulator core.

Library

  • One swipe = one game. A quick swipe now moves exactly one game, however fast or long it is, so you can run through the whole library without skipping any. A slower drag still follows your finger.

Also in this line (from q636.1)

  • Xbox 360-style library first, with a cover and a theme for every game, even without downloaded artwork.
  • Library ready in about a second instead of up to a minute on a crowded Download folder.
  • Landscape layout with big covers and a side panel.
  • In game: FPS limit Auto / 30 / Free, statistics Off / FPS / All with CPU, GPU, RAM, battery temperature and what limits the FPS.
  • The update check now looks at this project's releases.

Install

Install xendroid-mali-q636.2.apk over the previous version: your games folder and settings stay. Android 10+, arm64.

No games, BIOS or keys are included. Use dumps of games you own.

XenDroid Ultimate Mali q636.1: Xbox-style library for every game, clearer in-game stats

@DEGROUCHO DEGROUCHO released this 01 Nov 01:05

An interface update on the same q636 emulator core: same performance, a better app around it.

Library

  • Xbox-style dashboard first. The cover flow with real box art and each game's Marketplace theme is the opening screen for everyone. The classic grid is in the ⋮ menu and in Settings → Library.
  • Every game looks right. About half of the games have no Marketplace background, so their box art now becomes the theme behind them. Games without any downloaded art get a cover built from their own icon and name. Need for Speed: Most Wanted now shows its real cover.
  • Fast scrolling fixed. Flinging through the library no longer skips covers or leaves empty gaps: the flow passes every game on the way and lands on one. Repeated D-pad presses add up.
  • Covers are downloaded ahead of time, so a fast run through the library finds them ready.
  • A game whose title ID failed to read once is read again instead of staying without art.

In game

  • One-tap FPS limit in the menu (Performance tab): Auto (steady pace at the best rate the game can hold, recommended), 30 (cooler, longer battery) or Free (as many FPS as possible; some games may run too fast).
  • Clearer statistics box: Off / FPS / All. "All" shows CPU, GPU, RAM and battery temperature as labelled figures, plus what limits the FPS right now (GPU, CPU or the frame cap).
  • The technical switches are grouped under "Advanced: all on is best".

Install

Install xendroid-mali-q636.1.apk over the previous version: your games folder and settings stay. Android 10+, arm64.

No games, BIOS or keys are included. Use dumps of games you own.

XenDroid Ultimate Mali q636 — first public release

Choose a tag to compare

@DEGROUCHO DEGROUCHO released this 31 Oct 13:15

First public build of XenDroid Ultimate Mali: Xbox 360 emulation on Android, tuned for Arm Mali GPUs (built from development build q636).

Measured on a POCO X7 Pro (Dimensity 8400, Mali-G720)

Game fps
Call of Duty: Black Ops 42–60
Dante's Inferno 60
Grand Theft Auto IV 33–42, no black flashing
Halo: Reach 26–30

Highlights

  • MSAA 4x stored as a 2×2 layout (Reach +30%, Dante dither fixed).
  • Render passes instead of dynamic rendering on older Mali drivers, which works around Arm erratum 3786926.
  • BC to ASTC texture transcoding (−280 MB GPU memory).
  • Memexport through compute.
  • Lighter guest-memory coherency (mprotect).
  • In-game savestates.
  • New Compose interface with a performance overlay and Xbox controller support. The interface is in English and Italian (Settings → Language).

Install

Install xendroid-mali-q636.apk (Android 10+, arm64). Pick your games folder, then start a game. The first minutes of each game compile shaders and can stutter.

No games, BIOS or keys are included. Use dumps of games you own.
