RIFT is a task-centric terminal AI coding agent. It is a fork of OpenCode, and most of the code here is theirs. The agent loop, provider layer, tool system, LSP and MCP integration, permissions, config system and TUI foundation are all OpenCode's. RIFT rebuilds the interface around tasks and adds a verification layer.
What RIFT adds on top of OpenCode:
- Task view. The session screen shows the state of the work (state, plan, changes, needs you, verification) instead of an endless transcript. The full chat is one keystroke away. See Task View and Full Chat.
- Vibe Mode. A planner model plans and reviews each step while a cheaper executor model does the work. See Modes and Features.
-
Verification. After editing, RIFT runs your project's own checks and shows the real output. A second pass compares the agent's summary against the real
git diff. See Modes and Features. - Mission Control. Every session on one board, ordered so whatever needs you is on top. See Modes and Features.
-
Browser control. A
browsertool andverify_browser_urldrive a real Chromium-family browser and report console errors. See Modes and Features.
