[ Upstream commit 4ff2980 ] in tunnel mode, if outer interface(ipv4) is less, it is easily to let inner IPV6 mtu be less than 1280. If so, a Packet Too Big ICMPV6 message is received. When send again, packets are fragmentized with 1280, they are still rejected with ICMPV6(Packet Too Big) by xfrmi_xmit2(). According to RFC4213 Section3.2.2: if (IPv4 path MTU - 20) is less than 1280 if packet is larger than 1280 bytes Send ICMPv6 "packet too big" with MTU=1280 Drop packet else Encapsulate but do not set the Don't Fragment flag in the IPv4 header. The resulting IPv4 packet might be fragmented by the IPv4 layer on the encapsulator or by some router along the IPv4 path. endif else if packet is larger than (IPv4 path MTU - 20) Send ICMPv6 "packet too big" with MTU = (IPv4 path MTU - 20). Drop packet. else Encapsulate and set the Don't Fragment flag in the IPv4 header. endif endif Packets should be fragmentized with ipv4 outer interface, so change it. After it is fragemtized with ipv4, there will be double fragmenation. No.48 & No.51 are ipv6 fragment packets, No.48 is double fragmentized, then tunneled with IPv4(No.49& No.50), which obey spec. Since commit 8979b02 ("tpm: Fix reference count to main device") the extra reference used to prevent a premature zero counter is never taken, because the required TPM_CHIP_FLAG_TPM2 flag is never set. Fix this by moving the TPM 2 character device handling from tpm_chip_alloc() to tpm_add_char_device() which is called at a later point in time when the flag has been set in case of TPM2. Commit fdc915f ("tpm: expose spaces via a device link /dev/tpmrm<n>") already introduced function tpm_devs_release() to release the extra reference but did not implement the required put on chip->devs that results in the call of this function. Fix this by putting chip->devs in tpm_chip_unregister(). Finally move the new implementation for the TPM 2 handling into a new function to avoid multiple checks for the TPM_CHIP_FLAG_TPM2 flag in the good case and error cases. commit c51abd9 upstream. In many cases, keyctl_pkey_params_get_2() is validating the user buffer lengths against the wrong algorithm properties. Fix it to check against the correct properties. Probably this wasn't noticed before because for all asymmetric keys of the "public_key" subtype, max_data_size == max_sig_size == max_enc_size == max_dec_size. However, this isn't necessarily true for the "asym_tpm" subtype (it should be, but it's not strictly validated). Of course, future key types could have different values as well. The problem is that when kprobe is triggered from another kprobe post_handler current sequence of enable_singlestep / disable_singlestep is the following: enable_singlestep <- original kprobe (saves kprobe_saved_imask) enable_singlestep <- kprobe triggered from post_handler (clobbers kprobe_saved_imask) disable_singlestep <- kprobe triggered from post_handler (restores kprobe_saved_imask) disable_singlestep <- original kprobe (restores wrong clobbered kprobe_saved_imask) There is just one kprobe_ctlblk per cpu and both calls saves and loads irq mask to kprobe_saved_imask. To fix the problem simply move resume_execution (which calls disable_singlestep) before calling post_handler. This also fixes the problem that post_handler is called with pt_regs which were not yet adjusted after single-stepping. Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Fixes: 4ba069b ("[S390] add kprobes support.") For this bug, jbd2_journal_restart() is called by ocfs2_split_extent() during defragmenting. How to fix For ocfs2_split_extent() can handle journal operations totally by itself. Caller doesn't need to call journal access/dirty pair, and caller only needs to call journal start/stop pair. The fix method is to remove journal access/dirty from __ocfs2_move_extent(). [ Upstream commit 3dca1f8 ] Don't hold sdw_dev_lock while calling the peripheral driver probe() and remove() callbacks. Holding sdw_dev_lock around the probe() and remove() calls causes a theoretical mutex inversion which lockdep will assert on. During probe() the sdw_dev_lock mutex is taken first and then ASoC/ALSA locks are taken by the probe() implementation. During normal operation ASoC can take its locks and then trigger a runtime resume of the component. The SoundWire resume will then take sdw_dev_lock. This is the reverse order compared to probe(). It's not necessary to hold sdw_dev_lock when calling the probe() and remove(), it is only used to prevent the bus core calling the driver callbacks if there isn't a driver or the driver is removing. All calls to the driver callbacks are guarded by the 'probed' flag. So if sdw_dev_lock is held while setting and clearing the 'probed' flag this is sufficient to guarantee the safety of callback functions. Removing the mutex from around the call to probe() means that it is now possible for a bus event (PING response) to be handled in parallel with the probe(). But sdw_bus_probe() already has handling for this by calling the device update_status() after the probe() has completed. Example lockdep assert: [ 46.098514] ====================================================== [ 46.104736] WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected [ 46.110961] 6.1.0-rc4-jamerson #1 This spinlock is taken through: efi_call_rts() \-efi_call_virt() \-efi_call_virt_pointer() \-arch_efi_call_virt_setup() Make 'efi_rt_lock' a raw_spinlock to avoid being preempted. [ardb: The EFI runtime services are called with a different set of translation tables, and are permitted to use the SIMD registers. The context switch code preserves/restores neither, and so EFI calls must be made with preemption disabled, rather than only disabling migration.] Fixes: ff7a167 ("arm64: efi: Execute runtime services from a dedicated stack") Signed-off-by: Pierre Gondois <pierre.gondois@arm.com> Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> # v6.1+ Signed-off-by: Ard Biesheuvel <ardb@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

[ Upstream commit 2b4cc3d ] The check introduced in the commit a5fd394 ("igc: Lift TAPRIO schedule restriction") can detect a false positive error in some corner case. For instance, tc qdisc replace ... taprio num_tc 4 ... sched-entry S 0x01 100000 # slot#1 sched-entry S 0x03 100000 # slot#2 sched-entry S 0x04 100000 # slot#3 sched-entry S 0x08 200000 # slot#4 flags 0x02 # hardware offload Here the queue#0 (the first queue) is on at the slot#1 and #2, and off at the slot#3 and #4. Under the current logic, when the slot#4 is examined, validate_schedule() returns *false* since the enablement count for the queue#0 is two and it is already off at the previous slot (i.e. #3). But this definition is truely correct. Let's fix the logic to enforce a strict validation for consecutively-opened slots. In iavf_shutdown() the adapter state is changed to __IAVF_REMOVE. In ice_shutdown() the call chain above is executed, which at some point calls iavf_remove(). However iavf_remove() expects the VF to be in one of the states __IAVF_RUNNING, __IAVF_DOWN or __IAVF_INIT_FAILED. If that's not the case it sleeps forever. So if iavf_shutdown() gets invoked before iavf_remove() the system will hang indefinitely because the adapter is already in state __IAVF_REMOVE. Fix this by returning from iavf_remove() if the state is __IAVF_REMOVE, as we already went through iavf_shutdown(). [ Upstream commit 00cbce5 ] hfi1 user SDMA request processing has two bugs that can cause data corruption for user SDMA requests that have multiple payload iovecs where an iovec other than the tail iovec does not run up to the page boundary for the buffer pointed to by that iovec.a Here are the specific bugs: 1. user_sdma_txadd() does not use struct user_sdma_iovec->iov.iov_len. Rather, user_sdma_txadd() will add up to PAGE_SIZE bytes from iovec to the packet, even if some of those bytes are past iovec->iov.iov_len and are thus not intended to be in the packet. 2. user_sdma_txadd() and user_sdma_send_pkts() fail to advance to the next iovec in user_sdma_request->iovs when the current iovec is not PAGE_SIZE and does not contain enough data to complete the packet. The transmitted packet will contain the wrong data from the iovec pages. This has not been an issue with SDMA packets from hfi1 Verbs or PSM2 because they only produce iovecs that end short of PAGE_SIZE as the tail iovec of an SDMA request. Fixing these bugs exposes other bugs with the SDMA pin cache (struct mmu_rb_handler) that get in way of supporting user SDMA requests with multiple payload iovecs whose buffers do not end at PAGE_SIZE. So this commit fixes those issues as well. Here are the mmu_rb_handler bugs that non-PAGE_SIZE-end multi-iovec payload user SDMA requests can hit: 1. Overlapping memory ranges in mmu_rb_handler will result in duplicate pinnings. 2. When extending an existing mmu_rb_handler entry (struct mmu_rb_node), the mmu_rb code (1) removes the existing entry under a lock, (2) releases that lock, pins the new pages, (3) then reacquires the lock to insert the extended mmu_rb_node. If someone else comes in and inserts an overlapping entry between (2) and (3), insert in (3) will fail. The failure path code in this case unpins _all_ pages in either the original mmu_rb_node or the new mmu_rb_node that was inserted between (2) and (3). 3. In hfi1_mmu_rb_remove_unless_exact(), mmu_rb_node->refcount is incremented outside of mmu_rb_handler->lock. As a result, mmu_rb_node could be evicted by another thread that gets mmu_rb_handler->lock and checks mmu_rb_node->refcount before mmu_rb_node->refcount is incremented. 4. Related to #2 above, SDMA request submission failure path does not check mmu_rb_node->refcount before freeing mmu_rb_node object. If there are other SDMA requests in progress whose iovecs have pointers to the now-freed mmu_rb_node(s), those pointers to the now-freed mmu_rb nodes will be dereferenced when those SDMA requests complete. [ Upstream commit 45121ad ] The PSP IRQ is edge-triggered (MSI or MSI-X) in all cases supported by the psp module so clear the interrupt status register early in the handler to prevent missed interrupts. sev_irq_handler() calls wake_up() on a wait queue, which can result in a new command being submitted from a different CPU. This then races with the clearing of isr and can result in missed interrupts. A missed interrupt results in a command waiting until it times out, which results in the psp being declared dead. This is unlikely on bare metal, but has been observed when running virtualized. In the cases where this is observed, sev->cmdresp_reg has PSP_CMDRESP_RESP set which indicates that the command was processed correctly but no interrupt was asserted. The full sequence of events looks like this: CPU 1: submits SEV cmd #1 CPU 1: calls wait_event_timeout() CPU 0: enters psp_irq_handler() CPU 0: calls sev_handler()->wake_up() CPU 1: wakes up; finishes processing cmd #1 CPU 1: submits SEV cmd #2 CPU 1: calls wait_event_timeout() PSP: finishes processing cmd #2; interrupt status is still set; no interrupt CPU 0: clears intsts CPU 0: exits psp_irq_handler() CPU 1: wait_event_timeout() times out; psp_dead=true Fixes: 200664d ("crypto: ccp: Add Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) command support") Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Jeremi Piotrowski <jpiotrowski@linux.microsoft.com> Acked-by: Tom Lendacky <thomas.lendacky@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

Use a CPUHP_AP_ONLINE_DYN entry instead to execute the cpuhp cb later, with preemption enabled. SDEI originally got its own cpuhp slot to allow interacting with perf. It got superseded by pNMI and this early slot is not relevant anymore. [1] Some SDEI calls (e.g. SDEI_1_0_FN_SDEI_PE_MASK) take actions on the calling CPU. It is checked that preemption is disabled for them. _ONLINE cpuhp cb are executed in the 'per CPU hotplug thread'. Preemption is enabled in those threads, but their cpumask is limited to 1 CPU. Move 'WARN_ON_ONCE(preemptible())' statements so that SDEI cpuhp cb don't trigger them. Also add a check for the SDEI_1_0_FN_SDEI_PRIVATE_RESET SDEI call which acts on the calling CPU. The plain invalidate_inode_pages2_range() call passes through GFP_KERNEL, which makes sense in most cases, but not here. Wrap these two invalidate callees with memalloc_nofs_save/memalloc_nofs_restore to make sure we don't end up with the fs reclaim dependency under the transaction dependency. [ Upstream commit 691c041 ] Cited commit causes ABBA deadlock[0] when peer flows are created while holding the devcom rw semaphore. Due to peer flows offload implementation the lock is taken much higher up the call chain and there is no obvious way to easily fix the deadlock. Instead, since tc route query code needs the peer eswitch structure only to perform a lookup in xarray and doesn't perform any sleeping operations with it, refactor the code for lockless execution in following ways: - RCUify the devcom 'data' pointer. When resetting the pointer synchronously wait for RCU grace period before returning. This is fine since devcom is currently only used for synchronization of pairing/unpairing of eswitches which is rare and already expensive as-is. - Wrap all usages of 'paired' boolean in {READ|WRITE}_ONCE(). The flag has already been used in some unlocked contexts without proper annotations (e.g. users of mlx5_devcom_is_paired() function), but it wasn't an issue since all relevant code paths checked it again after obtaining the devcom semaphore. Now it is also used by mlx5_devcom_get_peer_data_rcu() as "best effort" check to return NULL when devcom is being unpaired. Note that while RCU read lock doesn't prevent the unpaired flag from being changed concurrently it still guarantees that reader can continue to use 'data'. - Refactor mlx5e_tc_query_route_vport() function to use new mlx5_devcom_get_peer_data_rcu() API which fixes the deadlock. [ Upstream commit 4428399 ] The lt8912b driver, in its bridge detach function, calls drm_connector_unregister() and drm_connector_cleanup(). drm_connector_unregister() should be called only for connectors explicitly registered with drm_connector_register(), which is not the case in lt8912b. The driver's drm_connector_funcs.destroy hook is set to drm_connector_cleanup(). Thus the driver should not call either drm_connector_unregister() nor drm_connector_cleanup() in its lt8912_bridge_detach(), as they cause a crash on bridge detach: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000000 Mem abort info: ESR = 0x0000000096000006 EC = 0x25: DABT (current EL), IL = 32 bits SET = 0, FnV = 0 EA = 0, S1PTW = 0 FSC = 0x06: level 2 translation fault Data abort info: ISV = 0, ISS = 0x00000006, ISS2 = 0x00000000 CM = 0, WnR = 0, TnD = 0, TagAccess = 0 GCS = 0, Overlay = 0, DirtyBit = 0, Xs = 0 user pgtable: 4k pages, 48-bit VAs, pgdp=00000000858f3000 [0000000000000000] pgd=0800000085918003, p4d=0800000085918003, pud=0800000085431003, pmd=0000000000000000 Internal error: Oops: 0000000096000006 [#1] PREEMPT SMP Modules linked in: tidss(-) display_connector lontium_lt8912b tc358768 panel_lvds panel_simple drm_dma_helper drm_kms_helper drm drm_panel_orientation_quirks CPU: 3 PID: 462 Comm: rmmod Tainted: G W 6.5.0-rc2+ #2 Hardware name: Toradex Verdin AM62 on Verdin Development Board (DT) pstate: 80000005 (Nzcv daif -PAN -UAO -TCO -DIT -SSBS BTYPE=--) pc : drm_connector_cleanup+0x78/0x2d4 [drm] lr : lt8912_bridge_detach+0x54/0x6c [lontium_lt8912b] sp : ffff800082ed3a90 x29: ffff800082ed3a90 x28: ffff0000040c1940 x27: 0000000000000000 x26: 0000000000000000 x25: dead000000000122 x24: dead000000000122 x23: dead000000000100 x22: ffff000003fb6388 x21: 0000000000000000 x20: 0000000000000000 x19: ffff000003fb6260 x18: fffffffffffe56e8 x17: 0000000000000000 x16: 0010000000000000 x15: 0000000000000038 x14: 0000000000000000 x13: ffff800081914b48 x12: 000000000000040e x11: 000000000000015a x10: ffff80008196ebb8 x9 : ffff800081914b48 x8 : 00000000ffffefff x7 : ffff0000040c1940 x6 : ffff80007aa649d0 x5 : 0000000000000000 x4 : 0000000000000001 x3 : ffff80008159e008 x2 : 0000000000000000 x1 : 0000000000000000 x0 : 0000000000000000 Call trace: drm_connector_cleanup+0x78/0x2d4 [drm] lt8912_bridge_detach+0x54/0x6c [lontium_lt8912b] drm_bridge_detach+0x44/0x84 [drm] drm_encoder_cleanup+0x40/0xb8 [drm] drmm_encoder_alloc_release+0x1c/0x30 [drm] drm_managed_release+0xac/0x148 [drm] drm_dev_put.part.0+0x88/0xb8 [drm] devm_drm_dev_init_release+0x14/0x24 [drm] devm_action_release+0x14/0x20 release_nodes+0x5c/0x90 devres_release_all+0x8c/0xe0 device_unbind_cleanup+0x18/0x68 device_release_driver_internal+0x208/0x23c driver_detach+0x4c/0x94 bus_remove_driver+0x70/0xf4 driver_unregister+0x30/0x60 platform_driver_unregister+0x14/0x20 tidss_platform_driver_exit+0x18/0xb2c [tidss] __arm64_sys_delete_module+0x1a0/0x2b4 invoke_syscall+0x48/0x110 el0_svc_common.constprop.0+0x60/0x10c do_el0_svc_compat+0x1c/0x40 el0_svc_compat+0x40/0xac el0t_32_sync_handler+0xb0/0x138 el0t_32_sync+0x194/0x198 Code: 9104a276 f2fbd5b7 aa0203e1 91008af8 (f85c0420) Fixes: 30e2ae9 ("drm/bridge: Introduce LT8912B DSI to HDMI bridge") Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ideasonboard.com> Reviewed-by: Robert Foss <rfoss@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Robert Foss <rfoss@kernel.org> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20230804-lt8912b-v1-2-c542692c6a2f@ideasonboard.com Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

[ Upstream commit 265f3ed ] All callers of work_on_cpu() share the same lock class key for all the functions queued. As a result the workqueue related locking scenario for a function A may be spuriously accounted as an inversion against the locking scenario of function B such as in the following model: long A(void *arg) { mutex_lock(&mutex); mutex_unlock(&mutex); } long B(void *arg) { } void launchA(void) { work_on_cpu(0, A, NULL); } void launchB(void) { mutex_lock(&mutex); work_on_cpu(1, B, NULL); mutex_unlock(&mutex); } launchA and launchB running concurrently have no chance to deadlock. However the above can be reported by lockdep as a possible locking inversion because the works containing A() and B() are treated as belonging to the same locking class. The following shows an existing example of such a spurious lockdep splat: ====================================================== WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected 6.6.0-rc1-00065-g934ebd6e5359 #35409 Not tainted ------------------------------------------------------ kworker/0:1/9 is trying to acquire lock: ffffffff9bc72f30 (cpu_hotplug_lock){++++}-{0:0}, at: _cpu_down+0x57/0x2b0 but task is already holding lock: ffff9e3bc0057e60 ((work_completion)(&wfc.work)){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_scheduled_works+0x216/0x500 which lock already depends on the new lock. the existing dependency chain (in reverse order) is: -> #2 ((work_completion)(&wfc.work)){+.+.}-{0:0}: __flush_work+0x83/0x4e0 work_on_cpu+0x97/0xc0 rcu_nocb_cpu_offload+0x62/0xb0 rcu_nocb_toggle+0xd0/0x1d0 kthread+0xe6/0x120 ret_from_fork+0x2f/0x40 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1b/0x30 -> #1 (rcu_state.barrier_mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}: __mutex_lock+0x81/0xc80 rcu_nocb_cpu_deoffload+0x38/0xb0 rcu_nocb_toggle+0x144/0x1d0 kthread+0xe6/0x120 ret_from_fork+0x2f/0x40 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1b/0x30 -> #0 (cpu_hotplug_lock){++++}-{0:0}: __lock_acquire+0x1538/0x2500 lock_acquire+0xbf/0x2a0 percpu_down_write+0x31/0x200 _cpu_down+0x57/0x2b0 __cpu_down_maps_locked+0x10/0x20 work_for_cpu_fn+0x15/0x20 process_scheduled_works+0x2a7/0x500 worker_thread+0x173/0x330 kthread+0xe6/0x120 ret_from_fork+0x2f/0x40 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1b/0x30 other info that might help us debug this: Chain exists of: cpu_hotplug_lock --> rcu_state.barrier_mutex --> (work_completion)(&wfc.work) Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 CPU1 ---- ---- lock((work_completion)(&wfc.work)); lock(rcu_state.barrier_mutex); lock((work_completion)(&wfc.work)); lock(cpu_hotplug_lock); *** DEADLOCK *** 2 locks held by kworker/0:1/9: #0: ffff900481068b38 ((wq_completion)events){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_scheduled_works+0x212/0x500 #1: ffff9e3bc0057e60 ((work_completion)(&wfc.work)){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_scheduled_works+0x216/0x500 stack backtrace: CPU: 0 PID: 9 Comm: kworker/0:1 Not tainted 6.6.0-rc1-00065-g934ebd6e5359 #35409 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009), BIOS rel-1.12.0-59-gc9ba5276e321-prebuilt.qemu.org 04/01/2014 Workqueue: events work_for_cpu_fn Call Trace: rcu-torture: rcu_torture_read_exit: Start of episode <TASK> dump_stack_lvl+0x4a/0x80 check_noncircular+0x132/0x150 __lock_acquire+0x1538/0x2500 lock_acquire+0xbf/0x2a0 ? _cpu_down+0x57/0x2b0 percpu_down_write+0x31/0x200 ? _cpu_down+0x57/0x2b0 _cpu_down+0x57/0x2b0 __cpu_down_maps_locked+0x10/0x20 work_for_cpu_fn+0x15/0x20 process_scheduled_works+0x2a7/0x500 worker_thread+0x173/0x330 ? __pfx_worker_thread+0x10/0x10 kthread+0xe6/0x120 ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 ret_from_fork+0x2f/0x40 ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1b/0x30 </TASK Fix this with providing one lock class key per work_on_cpu() caller. commit 5a22fbc upstream. When LAN9303 is MDIO-connected two callchains exist into mdio->bus->write(): 1. switch ports 1&2 ("physical" PHYs): virtual (switch-internal) MDIO bus (lan9303_switch_ops->phy_{read|write})-> lan9303_mdio_phy_{read|write} -> mdiobus_{read|write}_nested 2. LAN9303 virtual PHY: virtual MDIO bus (lan9303_phy_{read|write}) -> lan9303_virt_phy_reg_{read|write} -> regmap -> lan9303_mdio_{read|write} If the latter functions just take mutex_lock(&sw_dev->device->bus->mdio_lock) it triggers a LOCKDEP false-positive splat. It's false-positive because the first mdio_lock in the second callchain above belongs to virtual MDIO bus, the second mdio_lock belongs to physical MDIO bus. Consequent annotation in lan9303_mdio_{read|write} as nested lock (similar to lan9303_mdio_phy_{read|write}, it's the same physical MDIO bus) prevents the following splat: WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected 5.15.71 #1 Not tainted ------------------------------------------------------ kworker/u4:3/609 is trying to acquire lock: ffff000011531c68 (lan9303_mdio:131:(&lan9303_mdio_regmap_config)->lock){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: regmap_lock_mutex but task is already holding lock: ffff0000114c44d8 (&bus->mdio_lock){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: mdiobus_read which lock already depends on the new lock. the existing dependency chain (in reverse order) is: -> #1 (&bus->mdio_lock){+.+.}-{3:3}: lock_acquire __mutex_lock mutex_lock_nested lan9303_mdio_read _regmap_read regmap_read lan9303_probe lan9303_mdio_probe mdio_probe really_probe __driver_probe_device driver_probe_device __device_attach_driver bus_for_each_drv __device_attach device_initial_probe bus_probe_device deferred_probe_work_func process_one_work worker_thread kthread ret_from_fork -> #0 (lan9303_mdio:131:(&lan9303_mdio_regmap_config)->lock){+.+.}-{3:3}: __lock_acquire lock_acquire.part.0 lock_acquire __mutex_lock mutex_lock_nested regmap_lock_mutex regmap_read lan9303_phy_read dsa_slave_phy_read __mdiobus_read mdiobus_read get_phy_device mdiobus_scan __mdiobus_register dsa_register_switch lan9303_probe lan9303_mdio_probe mdio_probe really_probe __driver_probe_device driver_probe_device __device_attach_driver bus_for_each_drv __device_attach device_initial_probe bus_probe_device deferred_probe_work_func process_one_work worker_thread kthread ret_from_fork other info that might help us debug this: Possible unsafe locking scenario: CPU0 CPU1 ---- ---- lock(&bus->mdio_lock); lock(lan9303_mdio:131:(&lan9303_mdio_regmap_config)->lock); lock(&bus->mdio_lock); lock(lan9303_mdio:131:(&lan9303_mdio_regmap_config)->lock); *** DEADLOCK *** 5 locks held by kworker/u4:3/609: #0: ffff000002842938 ((wq_completion)events_unbound){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_one_work #1: ffff80000bacbd60 (deferred_probe_work){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_one_work #2: ffff000007645178 (&dev->mutex){....}-{3:3}, at: __device_attach #3: ffff8000096e6e78 (dsa2_mutex){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: dsa_register_switch #4: ffff0000114c44d8 (&bus->mdio_lock){+.+.}-{3:3}, at: mdiobus_read stack backtrace: CPU: 1 PID: 609 Comm: kworker/u4:3 Not tainted 5.15.71 #1 Workqueue: events_unbound deferred_probe_work_func Call trace: dump_backtrace show_stack dump_stack_lvl dump_stack print_circular_bug check_noncircular __lock_acquire lock_acquire.part.0 lock_acquire __mutex_lock mutex_lock_nested regmap_lock_mutex regmap_read lan9303_phy_read dsa_slave_phy_read __mdiobus_read mdiobus_read get_phy_device mdiobus_scan __mdiobus_register dsa_register_switch lan9303_probe lan9303_mdio_probe ... [ Upstream commit ec51fbd ] Subclassing the generic USB device driver to override the default configuration selection regardless of matching interface drivers. The r815x family devices expose a vendor specific function which the r8152 interface driver wants to handle. This is the preferred device mode. Additionally one or more USB class functions are usually supported for hosts lacking a vendor specific driver. The choice is USB configuration based, with one alternate function per configuration. Example device with both NCM and ECM alternate cfgs: T: Bus=02 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 4 Spd=5000 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 3.20 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 9 #Cfgs= 3 P: Vendor=0bda ProdID=8156 Rev=31.00 S: Manufacturer=Realtek S: Product=USB 10/100/1G/2.5G LAN S: SerialNumber=001000001 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=256mA I:* If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=ff(vend.) Using the above example, Linux defaults to cfg #2, running the device in a sub-optimal NCM mode. Previously we've attempted to work around the problem by blacklisting the devices in the ECM class driver "cdc_ether", and matching on the ECM class function in the vendor specific interface driver. The latter has been used to switch back to the vendor specific configuration when the driver is probed for a class function. This workaround has several issues; - class driver blacklists is additional maintanence cruft in an unrelated driver - class driver blacklists prevents users from optionally running the devices in class mode - each device needs double match entries in the vendor driver - the initial probing as a class function slows down device discovery Now these issues have become even worse with the introduction of firmware supporting both NCM and ECM, where NCM ends up as the default mode in Linux. To use the same workaround, we now have to blacklist the devices in to two different class drivers and add yet another match entry to the vendor specific driver. This patch implements an alternative workaround strategy - independent of the interface drivers. It avoids adding a blacklist to the cdc_ncm driver and will let us remove the existing blacklist from the cdc_ether driver. As an additional bonus, removing the blacklists allow users to select one of the other device modes if wanted. Signed-off-by: Bjørn Mork <bjorn@mork.no> Signed-off-by: David S. [ Upstream commit 15319a4 ] As &card->tx_queue_lock is acquired under softirq context along the following call chain from solos_bh(), other acquisition of the same lock inside process context should disable at least bh to avoid double lock. <deadlock #2> pclose() --> spin_lock(&card->tx_queue_lock) <interrupt> --> solos_bh() --> fpga_tx() --> spin_lock(&card->tx_queue_lock) This flaw was found by an experimental static analysis tool I am developing for irq-related deadlock. To prevent the potential deadlock, the patch uses spin_lock_bh() on &card->tx_queue_lock under process context code consistently to prevent the possible deadlock scenario. [ Upstream commit 807252f ] Running smb2.rename test from Samba smbtorture suite against a kernel built with lockdep triggers a "possible recursive locking detected" warning. This is because mnt_want_write() is called twice with no mnt_drop_write() in between: -> ksmbd_vfs_mkdir() -> ksmbd_vfs_kern_path_create() -> kern_path_create() -> filename_create() -> mnt_want_write() -> mnt_want_write() Fix this by removing the mnt_want_write/mnt_drop_write calls from vfs helpers that call kern_path_create().
