What's changed
Linux
- Annotation editor with arrow, box, pen, highlighter, text and pixelate, using the same keys as Windows. Click the preview to edit, or run
opensnip --edit file.png. (#6) - Pinned images that stay on top, from the tray or
opensnip --pin. (#7) - Global shortcuts on X11: Win+Shift+S, PrtSc, Shift+PrtSc and Ctrl+PrtSc, editable in Settings. On Wayland, bind
opensnip --snipin your desktop's shortcut settings. (#8) - Screen recording on X11 to H.264 MP4, from the tray or
opensnip --record, with optional system audio and microphone. Requiresffmpeg. (#9) - Window capture on X11: the window under the pointer is highlighted and a click captures it. (#5)
- Snip gestures match Windows:
FandAfor monitor and full screen, Enter to confirm, Esc or right-click to cancel, arrow keys to nudge. (#10) - Mixed-scale monitors: snips are placed in each monitor's own pixels. (#11)
- Magnifier matches Windows: a 15×15 pixel grid with the pixel's color and coordinate. (#12)
Fixes
- X11 capture works when only
libX11.so.6is installed, without the development package. (#4) - Saving as
.jpgor.jpegwrites a JPEG instead of PNG data. (#4)
Windows: OpenSnip.exe needs the .NET 9 Desktop Runtime; OpenSnip-standalone.exe does not. Linux: extract OpenSnip-linux-x64.tar.gz and run ./install.sh or ./OpenSnip.
