QuickMail v0.8.85
Eudora QuickMail 0.8.85
This release brings together the changes developed since public release 0.8.83,
including the features previously available only in local 0.8.84 test builds.
Mail productivity
- Favorite folders provide shortcuts without moving or copying messages.
- Follow up schedules a self-addressed reminder with a link to the original message.
A detected, correctly threaded reply cancels the reminder. Network/authentication
failures postpone the check rather than assuming no reply exists. - Send repeatedly schedules recurring messages at 08:00 local time with start date,
interval in days and inclusive end date. Only the next occurrence is queued. - Outgoing attachment checks prevent sending with missing files or unresolved embedded images.
- Private Notes can be edited beneath Subject, sorted in the message list and searched
globally or withN:text. Notes are never transmitted as message content. - Recipient privacy warnings offer to put the sender in TO and visible recipients in BCC
when more than three distinct TO/CC addresses span multiple domains. This is a heuristic;
the user can keep the original recipients or cancel sending.
Rules and investigation
- Forward and Reply template rule actions use the durable Scheduled queue and loop/
duplicate protections. Rules can have an inclusive expiration date. - Enhanced Test Rule / Preview shows matching counts, examples and intended actions
without executing them. - Analyze rule conflicts lists matching active rules in execution order, competing
actions and later rules blocked by an earlier move/delete/SPAM rule. - Activity records local message operations for diagnosis. It does not reconstruct
old events or certify server delivery. Retention is 90 days / 100,000 events per profile. - Export selected messages with EML files, native attachments and a navigable HTML index.
Incomplete exports are explicitly identified.
Attachments
- Tools > Attachment explorer searches cached attachment metadata in the current folder
or Everywhere, supports sortable columns, multi-save and Go to message. - Locate missing attachment searches a chosen backup directory, reports name/size evidence
and verifies a cached SHA-256 when available. After confirmation, recover a new copy or
update only the selected attachment reference. Existing files and backups are not overwritten. - The explorer includes legacy local attachment paths but excludes embedded images and
messages whose attachment metadata has not been downloaded. It displays up to 10,000
matches and asks for a narrower search when capped.
Reliability and packaging
- Editable combo arrow handling and rule-dialog layout improvements.
- Unnecessary remote-style prefetch is avoided for authoritative POP/local messages.
- Unattended UI probes no longer launch the initial attachment-index modal notice.
- Updated cryptography dependency and backup coverage for the rule-forwarding ledger.
- Official Windows x64 and ARM64 builds, complete portable ZIPs, installers and update feeds.
Portable ZIPs include the companion backup application; prefer them over copying only the EXE.
Notes and investigation data are local. Before updating an important mail archive, keep a
current backup. No bulk recovery, automatic rule rewriting or automatic attachment relinking
is performed by these new tools.
Reporting Issues
Found a problem or have a suggestion? There are three ways to reach us — pick the one that fits:
- Report a Bug → Send (Help menu, inside QuickMail). Files the report for you anonymously — it includes no email address or other identifying information, so there is no way to follow up with you. Best when you don't want any follow-up.
- Report a Bug → Copy report and open GitHub (Help menu). Opens a pre-filled issue that you submit under your own GitHub account, so your GitHub contact information is attached. Best when you have a GitHub account and want automatic filing plus direct contact.
- Email quickmailissues@theideaplace.net. Best when you don't mind sending email and want a personal follow-up.
Full details, including exactly what a report contains (and what it never contains), are in the Reporting Issues section of the User Guide.
QuickMail v0.8.83
Eudora QuickMail 0.8.83
- Help now checks for updates on demand without restarting, distinguishes errors
from successful checks, and explains disabled test installations. Available
updates open the in-app download/install dialog; GitHub has a separate link. - Outgoing embedded images are stored durably in Data/Embedded and sent as inline
MIME resources. Drafts, scheduled messages, sent copies and forwards retain
them. Native backups include Embedded when attachment copying is enabled. - Past events are dimmed in the monthly calendar without changing other views.
- Searches can open in dedicated result tabs (enabled by default), preserving
the original folder view, selection and scroll position. - Slow folder navigation shows a delayed progress window.
- Startup during backup offers safe cancellation/waiting rather than an opaque
database-lock error; it never forcibly terminates backup or bypasses its locks. - Cursor visibility is restored on window activation. Copying a missing
attachment preserves its original path for recovery from backups.
Installation and updates
Official x64 and ARM64 packages include Google OAuth credentials, Backup Agent,
Updater and application assets. Close EQM and Backup Agent before replacing files;
do not update during a running backup. For portable installations, extract the
complete ZIP for your architecture, preserving Data and profile directories.
If Help reports "Updates disabled", an old quickmail-standalone-install marker
is present beside EudoraQM.exe. Rename it to quickmail-standalone-install.disabled
if this installation should receive official releases, then use Help > Check for
updates now. Installing new files alone does not remove this old marker.
Updates require confirmation before installation and restart. Only newer stable
GitHub releases are offered; a locally built version ahead of GitHub is not downgraded.
QuickMail v0.8.79
Eudora QuickMail 0.8.79
This release includes the changes validated in the local 0.8.79 test package.
- Stable message results: applying rules or deleting messages keeps the remaining
rows, order and reading position. Read-state changes no longer remove rows from
an open unread search; F5 or a new search reevaluates its criteria. - New mail is added incrementally, respecting the selected order and viewport.
- Snooze presets for 30, 90 and 180 days and one calendar year. Date-only input
in custom Snooze and Send Later defaults to 09:00 local time; explicit times
are preserved. - In-app download and installation for supported installed and portable copies,
including package verification, orderly shutdown and the portable updater. - Manual SPAM blocking, improved rule diagnostics and IMAP filter performance,
extended wildcard search, and read-state handling for RecoveryDeleted. - Backup Agent improvements: independent destination-access checks, manual task
requests, legacy Eudora attachments, external backup window naming, history
access and reopening EQM in the user's interactive session after maintenance.
The release includes x64 and ARM64 portable ZIPs, installers and update feeds.
Official builds use the Google OAuth client configured in GitHub Actions.
For a manual portable update, close EQM and replace the application files using
the complete ZIP for your architecture, including Assets, BackupAgent and Updater.
Keep your existing data and profile directories. Close Backup Agent before replacing
its files and do not update during a running backup.
Portable 0.8.77 predates the in-app installer and still opens GitHub when an update
is found. Install the complete package once to enable subsequent in-app updates.
A client already running 0.8.79 will not offer this same version again.
QuickMail v0.8.77
Eudora QuickMail 0.8.77 — preview
Official GitHub build with the configured Google OAuth desktop client.
- Includes Dinamica Backup Agent 0.1.3: native ZIP backups, external maintenance
windows, native attachment mirror, restore tests and recovery workflow. - Backup settings grouped by application, external/native backup, notifications,
restore tests and history, with tooltips and independent destination credentials. - Clear SQLite preparation stages with elapsed time; separate sender email/display
name; dirty-state Save button; Windows task identity resolution and registration feedback. - Backup report durations have no fractional seconds. Dedicated application icon.
- Includes pending recipient-validation improvements and safe EQM shutdown coordination.
For a portable installation, use the complete ZIP for your architecture and preserve
its Assets and BackupAgent directories. The loose backup executable is x64.
Close the backup agent before replacing its executable. Do not replace files during
an active backup. Back up your existing data before testing recovery.
This is a pre-release for manual testing, not promoted to Latest or automatic updates.
ProConta integration remains pending. Native backups currently keep EQM closed for
the whole operation; this release does not change that lifecycle.
QuickMail v0.8.73
Eudora QuickMail 0.8.73
This release adds a safe migration path for users of the original QuickMail project, improves
attachment storage and local-database maintenance, and refines the Eudora QuickMail Windows icon.
Highlights
- Existing QuickMail profiles can be imported during first run or later from File → Import
QuickMail Profile…. The importer creates an independent, validated copy, leaves the source
untouched, and opens the result offline for review. - SQLite profiles are copied through the online backup API so committed WAL data is included.
Compatible settings, contacts, rules, templates, themes, locally retained attachments, POP3 MIME
data, and remote attachment metadata are preserved. - Eudora migration remains available during first run and from the File menu.
- Locally retained received, embedded, and migrated attachments are maintained as independent files
below the profile'sAttachmentstree, with references and metadata held in SQLite. - Database schema 9 removes orphaned search keys, attachment-index rows, and IMAP body-cache state
left by older deletion paths without forcing a large full-text-index rebuild during startup. - Small Windows icon frames have been optically resized for clearer taskbar, title-bar, and
notification-area presentation. - The installer keeps the stable asset name
EudoraQM-Setup.exe. Once this release is promoted,
the permanent URL/releases/latest/download/EudoraQM-Setup.exefollows it automatically.
Installation note
The build is temporarily unsigned while the project completes onboarding to SignPath Foundation.
Windows may display an "Unknown publisher" warning. Back up important mail data before installing
or migrating an existing profile.

QuickMail v0.8.72
Eudora QuickMail 0.8.72
This pre-release updates the DinamicaTech edition with safer message recovery, faster ways to
trace correspondence, refreshed application branding and a simpler Windows download.
Highlights
Shift+Deletenow moves messages to a dedicated RecoveryDeleted folder instead of deleting
them immediately. Its configurable retention period defaults to one day, and Trash, Junk and
RecoveryDeleted can each be emptied explicitly from the folder context menu.- Message history can now search either an exact email address or an entire domain. Go to
message opens a result in its physical folder, and longer local searches display progress. - Compose windows and tabs support
Ctrl+F4, alongside refinements to notification handling,
scheduled sending, local search and folder-state recovery. - The application, splash screen, taskbar and notification-area artwork now use the new Eudora
QuickMail paper-plane icon at appropriate resolutions. - The portable application is now named
EudoraQM.exe. The x64 release also publishes a stable
EudoraQM-Setup.exeasset for a direct installer link from the product website. - Documentation and automated tests were expanded for the new workflows.
Installation note
This build is temporarily unsigned while the project completes onboarding to SignPath Foundation.
Windows may display an "Unknown publisher" warning. Back up important mail data before installing
or migrating an existing profile.
