woo yippeee 💥cr33ture2💥

See the changelog for most changes & new features :3 been way too long since a release so there's quite a lot. Not entirely certain there's no issues so plz tell me if it breaks 🙏🙏🙏. Dependencies have also accrued an unfortunate amount of CVEs in the meanwhile so it's probably worth updating if just for that.

These builds have a new certifi version packaged so it ought to fix the root cert soft-loading issue for windows scrunkles who had that.

Which version to download

  • The Windows10+ build runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and up. (so incl. Windows 11)
    • Build with Python 3.12.2 and PyQt6 (6.6.1), which only supports 64-bit systems. If you're running 32-bit Windows 10 you'll have to run the Windows7+ version.
  • The Windows7+ build runs on Windows 7 and up. Use the Win10 version instead if you can plz :3
    • Build with Python 3.8.18 and PyQt5 (5.15.10) for compatibility, running the Windows10+ version is preferred.
      • Build with PyInstaller 5.11, which has a CVE, since I couldn't get it to work with the latest version unfortunately.
      • Qt5 has reached EOL for non-commercial use and Python 3.8 will be EOL in a few months. Would be epic if the last remaining Windows 7 user would update to Windows 10 or just switch to Linux or smthin <3
  • The macosx11+ build runs on macOS 11 (Big Sur) and up.
    • Build with Python 3.11.7 and PyQt6 (6.6.1).
    • This is an automated build from the workflow this time and I couldn't find anyone to test it, hopefully there's no issues.
  • Allegedly the mac build is just broken!! Plz use the v2.5.3 version instead or just emulate the Windows build with wine.
  • The linux64-glibc2.36+ build should run on distros with glibc 2.36 and up. So at least an equivalent of Debian Bookworm or Ubuntu for Debian clones. Arch and Fedora have very recent glibc versions so should also work.
    • Build with Python 3.12.2 and PyQt6 (6.6.1).
    • To run on a 32 bit distro, install your distro's equivalent of the python3-pyqt5 package and run from source, installing PyQt5 via pip is not supported on x86 architecture.

Putting this up since people keep having certificate validation issues from windows soft loading certs. These are the latest workflow builds, so they have a more recent version of certifi packaged and won't use windows' cert store.

Qt 6.4.1 regression broke audio on Windows; this version is build with 6.4.0 again. (see QTBUG-108383+ CHANGELOG)
Also compiled Python 3.8.16 and used that version for the win7 build, the previous version just used the Github actions build version.

    • Build with Python 3.8.16 and PyQt5 for compatibility, running the Windows10+ version is preferred.
    • If you get a DLL error you may have to install the Windows 10 Universal C Runtime, which backports the required DLLs to Windows 7/8.
  • The Windows10+ build runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and up. (so incl. Windows 11)
    • Build with Python 3.10.9 and PyQt6, which only supports 64-bit systems. If you're running 32-bit Windows 10 you'll have to run the Windows7+ version.
  • The macosx11+ build runs on macOS 11 (Big Sur) and up.

The Windows 7 version should hopefully work again now, see the CHANGELOG for a full writeup.

    • Contains PyQt5 and an older manually compiled version of Python for compatibility, running the Windows10+ version is preferred.
  • The Windows10+ build run on 64-bit Windows 10 and up. (so incl. Windows 11)

  • The linux32-glibc2.31+ is the same as the one above only it's full of violence milk and should run on 32-bit installations.
    • Build against Debian's python3-pyqt5 package, since PyQt5 no longer offers 32-bit wheels.
  • The linux64-glibc2.36+ includes more recent versions of packages, but will only run on distros with glibc 2.36 and up. (Arch Linux, Manjaro, etc. )

Mostly fixes a few issues with the previous release, see the CHANGELOG for a full writeup.

Which version to download

  • The Windows7+ build runs on Windows 7 and up. (64-bit only)
    • The Windows 7 version is 64-bit now since there's no 32-bit wheel for PyQt6-Qt6, unless this causes an issue for someone it doesn't really seem worth the effort to build from source rn.
  • The Windows8+ builds run on Windows 8 and up, choose the win32 build if you're the singular person who still has a 32-bit pc in 2022.
  • The macosx10.15+ build runs on 10.15 (Catalina) and up.
  • The linux64-glibc2.31+ build should run on distros with glibc 2.31 and up. (Anything newer than: Debian Bullseye, Ubuntu focal, etc. )
  • The linux64-glibc2.35+ includes more recent versions of packages, but will only run on distros with glibc 2.35 and up. (Currently: Arch Linux, Manjaro, etc. )

This version doesn't seem to work on Windows 7 or on 32 bit computers, use v2.3.1 for now if you're on win7 or on a 32 bit computer.
