v1.0.4 The Installer update
Legendary C# now has a proper installer, a new icon, and knows which old builds still download in full before you start.
Which file do I grab?
- LegendarySharp-v1.0.4.msi: the installer, recommended. No admin rights needed, it installs for your account only.
- LegendarySharp-v1.0.4.exe: the plain app if you would rather not install anything. Runs from anywhere, same as before.
What the installer adds
- Start menu and desktop shortcuts named Legendary C#
- Terminal commands: type
L#,Lsharporlegendary#in cmd, PowerShell or Windows Terminal to open the app from any folder - A Windows Terminal profile: Legendary C# shows up in the Terminal dropdown (restart Terminal once after installing)
- Updates in place: running a newer msi later replaces the old version, your settings and builds stay where they are
- Clean uninstall from Settings > Apps, which removes the commands, shortcuts and Terminal entry
How to use it
- Run the msi, then open Legendary C# from the Start menu, the desktop, or by typing
L#in a terminal. - Want builds to land in a specific folder? Open a terminal in your builds folder (any folder with "builds" in its path, like
D:\FortniteBuilds) and typeL#. The app jumps straight to picking a version and downloads into that folder. - When it asks for an install folder you can drag a folder onto the window or paste a path, quotes and all.
- Pick a version. Builds that still download in full are marked confirmed, broken ones tell you exactly how many files will be missing before you start.
Old builds
Every build up to 23.50 was checked chunk by chunk against Epic's CDN. It turns out to be all or nothing: a build either downloads in full with any preset, or it is missing core files even on Minimal, so a smaller preset never rescues a broken build. The app ships with the results, and the full list is in docs/BUILDS.md.
All changes
- New MSI installer with Start menu and desktop shortcuts, a Windows Terminal profile and the L#, Lsharp and legendary# commands
- New app icon, styled after the original legendary
- Builds that still download in full are marked confirmed, broken ones show exactly how many files will be missing for the tags you pick
- Starting the app from a folder with builds in its path goes straight to picking a version and downloads into that folder
- Drag a folder onto the window or paste a path to fill in the install folder, quotes included
- Downloads screen shows the queue running in the background inside the same window
- Manifests are loaded from the exact link in the release index, so builds stored outside the usual archive folder load again
- The app runs on its own screen and hands your terminal back untouched when you quit, with a short goodbye and the GitHub link
- Fixed the logo and menus being cut off in short console windows
- Fixed the version number showing as 1.0.0
Download queue and much steadier downloads
Run as many windows as you like. Downloads now queue up across them and take turns, and a waiting window shows what is downloading, how far along it is and where you are in line. If the window in front is closed or crashes, the next one starts straight away.
Downloads are also much harder to knock over. Pressing Ctrl+C once used to break every download after it until the app was restarted, and a slow or dropped connection stopped the whole download as if you had pressed Ctrl+C. Both are fixed, along with a batch of smaller problems that could stop a download from starting.
- Downloads queue up across windows and take turns, with live progress of the one running
- My builds shows which builds another window is working on, and will not verify a folder that is still being written
- The mouse wheel moves one row per notch instead of three, and touchpads scroll smoothly instead of racing
- Fixed Ctrl+C breaking every download after it until the app was restarted
- Fixed a slow or stalled connection stopping the download as if you had pressed Ctrl+C
- Connections are only dropped when they stall, so slow internet no longer times out mid chunk, and short drop outs are ridden out instead of failing the download
- Being offline or blocked from Epic's CDN is reported as that, instead of claiming the build was deleted
- A dropped connection while skipping missing chunks no longer marks the rest of the build as deleted by Epic
- A build missing chunks the availability check did not sample now asks whether to carry on, instead of failing at the same spot on every resume
- Clicking the console window can no longer freeze a download, and a key pressed mid download no longer skips the results or answers the next question
- Files held open by the game or another program are retried, then reported along with the program holding them
- A half written cache, settings file or install record can no longer break the app until it is deleted by hand
- Manifests that try to write outside the install folder are refused, and downloading into a folder holding a different build asks first
- Errors are saved to log.txt so they can be attached to bug reports
Mouse, scrolling and a working UEFN install
Lists now take the mouse. Scroll the wheel to move through any menu and left click a row to pick it, so you are no longer stuck reaching for arrow keys your board might not have. Tab jumps straight to the end of a list and shift+tab back to the start.
UEFN installs were downloading nothing at all. That is fixed, along with the reason some builds reported themselves as available and then failed halfway through.
- Scroll the wheel to move through any list, and left click a row to pick it
- Tab jumps to the end of a list, shift+tab to the start, for keyboards with no Home or End
- New Mouse and scrolling setting, on by default, with scroll only and arrow keys only modes if you would rather keep the console's own text selection
- Fixed UEFN installs pulling no files at all
- Pruned chunks are now spotted on the mirrors that answer 403 as well as the ones that answer 404, so a part missing build is reported up front instead of failing partway
- Fixed Reset to defaults being quietly undone by the next setting you changed
- A locked exe now fails the release build instead of silently shipping the previous one
