Options tab 4: Ops

Sophist edited this page Oct 7, 2017 · 1 revision

dlFilter provides a few additional functions for users who are ops:

  • Ops talk - a channel-like window which allows you to chat with other Ops in the same channel
  • Automatic Ops chat messages to other ops when you detect spammers
  • Regular channel advertising of dlFilter in dlFiltered channels you are Ops in - after all if dlFilter helps you to filter out the adverts and triggers to help you see when users are asking for help, it will be equally helpful to ther users.
  • Individual advertising to users who are running mIRC but not dlFilter, when they use triggers that dlFilter might help give a better result.

Ops Talk

Ops in a channel can send messages to other ops in the same channel by using one of the following commands:

  • /oNotice #channel message-text
  • /msg @#channel message-text
  • /describe @#channel action-text
  • /notice @#channel notice-text

With this option cleared, messages will appear in the channel window as follows:

  • nick:@#chan message-text
  • nick:@#chan message-text
    • nick:@#chan action-text
  • -paf_uk- notice-text

When this option is checked, a new custom window will open named @#channel which will act like a channel window, but only for operators:

Spam reporting

Two options allow you to automatically report dlFilter-identified spam to other ops using Ops Chat:

  • Channel spam, or
  • Private spam from a nick in channel

dlFilter channel advertising

If, as a channel op, you find dlFilter useful to filter out the channel clutter, then please enable channel advertising to encourage other users to get the same benefits.

You can set how often channel adverts are sent.

To avoid a channel getting many dlFilter adverts from multiple ops having enabled this option, dlFilter does not send an advert if another op has sent an advert in the previous period. This allows all ops to enable this functionality in the knowledge that they can act as a fallback if another op with a shorter advertising period leaves the channel.

dlFilter individual user advertising

This function is a little experimental. It watches the channel for mIRC users issuing triggers where dlFilter could improve the users experience, and sends occasional advertising messages direct to the user.

At present it does not have any functionality to stop multiple ops running dlFilter from sending the same adverts to the same user, so please only enable this functionality in coordination with other Ops.
