v4.1.1
References and comments only — no code or format change from v4.1.0.
- Commit hashes cited in source, docs and the tape-work skill now point at the rewritten history.
- Comments state the reasoning for decisions instead of attributing them.
- The compat baseline test no longer leaks a temp tree when a baseline fails to build.
docs/format-design.md§4 records the deletion gate and the 2026-09-21 round-trip measurements.
v4.1.0
Breaking changes inside /v4 — a known semver exception
Six breaking changes shipped in a minor release. Go's rules would require /v5; this is v4.1.0 because v4.0.0 was never usable (its go.mod lacked /v4 — see v4.0.1), so v4.0.1 was the only usable v4 release and the format had not yet been released in practice. No known consumer is affected: nevr-stream, nevr-agent and nevr-profiler construct no ReaderOption (checked 2026-09-21).
codec.ReaderOptionis nowfunc(*readerConfig)(wasfunc(*Limits)) — code outsidepkg/codeccan no longer construct one; use the provided options. (6c5d534)- Per-block compression is the default;
WithWholeStreamCompressionopts out. Features default on, arguments opt out: an opt-in feature is off for every caller who doesn't know its name. (e27a62a) - zstd content checksum is verified on read — silent corruption is now an error. (7849599)
- A capture cut short is reported (
ErrTruncatedCapture), not served short;WithoutFooterRequiredis the salvage path. (6c5d534) - Unknown envelope variants are skipped and counted, not refused (
Reader.SkippedEnvelopes). (86eb934) game_typereplacesmatch_type; nevr-api bumped to 638a4669f605. (2b3fe97)format_minor2 — the first minor that removes fields. (a217d6a)
Tag history
This tag points at 9746ed0. The history was rewritten on 2026-09-07 (commit messages only); 9746ed0's tree is byte-identical to the commit v4.1.0 was first published at, so the module checksum in sum.golang.org still verifies.
v3.3.0
