Ghost Recon 2 port v1.2
Ghost Recon 2 — native PC port v1.2
A native Windows port of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 (original Xbox, 2004), built by statically recompiling the game's own code with the xboxrecomp toolkit. The Xbox hardware is replaced by native code: Vulkan renderer, XAudio2 audio, XInput / keyboard and mouse input.
No game data is included — you need your own copy of the game.
Installation
- Download
GhostRecon2-v1.2.zipand extract it anywhere. - Copy the entire contents of your Ghost Recon 2 Xbox disc (extracted ISO:
default.xbeand all its folders) into thegame\folder. - Run
ghostrecon2.exe.
Requirements
- Windows 10/11 x64
- A GPU with Vulkan 1.3
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2015–2022 Redistributable (x64)
What's new in v1.2
- Fixed (renderer): a movie frame could be drawn as an old image. A cutscene's frames are written by the CPU into memory where an earlier render target (or a colour-grade table) used to live, and the renderer kept showing that old surface — a flicker between the video and the game, or smooth colour fields over the whole screen. The renderer now refuses a surface that is narrower than the texture or that sits under a YUV / compressed / paletted format, and reads guest memory when it changes with no draw into the surface. Found and confirmed on the Summit Strike port; here it is a precaution — it was not reproduced in Ghost Recon 2, and no regression was seen in a mission run.
- Audio: the APU's frame thread no longer idles while a title switches its sample counter off. No effect on this game's audio as far as tested; it is the fix that made Summit Strike's sound correct.
- Newer toolkit with extra diagnostics (log keys, off by default).
Features
- Options menu (Delete or Home): windowed / borderless / exclusive fullscreen, VSync, frame limit, volume, reverb, rain/ambience level, language
- Internal resolution from native 640x480 up to 6x (3840x2880), changeable live
- Aspect ratio: 4:3, 16:9 (stretched) or fill window
- Anti-aliasing and scaling: area supersampling downscale, SMAA 1x, FSR 1 upscaling, RCAS sharpening
- Unlocked frame rate (the game is variable-timestep), disk shader and pipeline cache
- XInput controllers, keyboard and mouse
Where your data goes
Saves, settings (gr2.ini), shader cache and logs: %LOCALAPPDATA%\GhostRecon2\
Settings and performance
Heavy scenes (dense foliage, rain) are limited by the GPU's pixel work, which grows with the internal resolution. Measured on the Summit Strike port: x3 costs about a quarter of x6 on the same scene. If a mission drops frames, lower the internal resolution to x3–x4 and keep SMAA / FSR on.
Recommended starting point (1440p monitor): internal resolution x4, Downscale filter Area, Sharpen 50–60 %, aspect 4:3.

Ghost Recon 2 port v1.1
Ghost Recon 2 — native PC port v1.1
A native Windows port of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 (original Xbox, 2004), built by statically recompiling the game's own code with the xboxrecomp toolkit. The Xbox hardware is replaced by native code: Vulkan renderer, XAudio2 audio, XInput / keyboard and mouse input.
No game data is included — you need your own copy of the game.
Installation
- Download
GhostRecon2-v1.1.zipand extract it anywhere. - Copy the entire contents of your Ghost Recon 2 Xbox disc (extracted ISO:

ghostrecon2.exe.
Requirements
- Windows 10/11 x64
- A GPU with Vulkan 1.3
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2015–2022 Redistributable (x64)
What's new in v1.1
- Fixed: mission 6 (train depot) showed a solid green/magenta screen once you took control of your character. The title renders an 800x800 shadow map right after the frame, and the GPU emulator was presenting it as the picture; a surface with the display's pitch now always wins. Other missions are unaffected.
- The port runs on its own. The nine
.batlaunchers are gone:ghostrecon2.exesets up everything itself, and the game data is found ingame\wherever the folder is. - One data folder per title. Saves, settings, shader cache and logs now live in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\GhostRecon2\instead of a shared folder. - The debugging keys (F6/F7/F8) are off unless you set
DebugKeys=1under[Debug]ingr2.ini.
