EpiDoc and Digital Epigraphy Workshop
Institute of Classical Studies, London, 24th–26th May, 2027
Led by Gabriel Bodard and Anna Clara Maniero Azzolini
Call for participation
We invite participants to join an in-person, "flipped classroom", three-day EpiDoc and digital epigraphy workshop in London. We will introduce the digital encoding of epigraphic and papyrological editions in EpiDoc TEI XML (epidoc.stoa.org) and the use of linked open data approaches including Wikidata and EAGLE/FAIR-Epigraphy/Biblissima-EpiVoc vocabularies. We will share a range of video tutorials to watch before you arrive, so that we can spend as much time as possible in the workshop with hands-on practice and discussion.
EpiDoc is the de facto standard for the encoding of ancient epigraphic and papyrological editions in TEI XML for online publication and interchange, and is widely used with a range of classical and other ancient and historical languages and scripts, including Arabic, Cuneiform, Cypro-Aegean, Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek, Latin, Ogham, Runic and Sanskrit.
