The first public release of Soulgent.

Soulgent turns every agent session on your Mac into a character with a name, a look and a mood, so you can see at a glance who is working, who is done and has something to tell you, and who is waiting for your decision.

What's in 0.1.0

Soulgent for Mac (app/)

  • Three scenes: Seaview (agent teams seated on four islands by a Blender-rendered sea), Office, and Duty Room.
  • Sessions that need you walk to your desk, queue and knock; finished ones wait on the sofa.
  • Background work counts as working: BG N on cards and name tags.
  • Errors and unexpected exits get their own look: an Error group, amber for retrying and usage limits, exited sessions greyed at their desks.
  • Spotlight and click-to-jump for Claude Code sessions in Orca; Codex and WorkBuddy sessions show up too.
  • English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, following your system language.

Soulgent App (webapp/)

  • A phone web app (its chat page is called SoulChat), served from your own Mac in Docker over local HTTPS.
  • Reply to Claude Code sessions like a chat: answer questions, approve commands, send photos and files.
  • Push notifications only on the device you are using, read receipts, context usage rings, a team dashboard.

Install

  • Easiest: paste the prompt from "Install" in the README into Claude Code or Codex and let it do the steps for you.
  • By hand, four steps: build and install the app, add characters (tools/install-pets.sh), set up your teams, open Seaview. Soulgent App is optional and needs Docker; see "Install Soulgent App (optional)". A prebuilt app will come with a later release.
  • Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later on Apple Silicon (earlier versions are untested), Xcode Command Line Tools, Claude Code and Node.js 20+ (for Petdex characters). The README has an Uninstall section.

Known limitations

  • Soulgent App can reply only to Claude Code sessions running in Orca; for Codex and WorkBuddy sessions it shows state and summary only, not the full conversation.
  • Seaview shows at most four teams (later versions may add more).
  • Soulgent reads Claude Code's internal session files, so a Claude Code update can break it.

Soulgent comes with one character of its own, the Soulgent flame; every other character comes from Petdex (https://petdex.dev), installed by you. Built with the help of Claude Code.
