PleatView v1.0.9
What's new
PleatView for Linux (beta), for a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 with the 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS, or a mini PC with Ubuntu. Home Assistant finds it, pairs it with the PIN on screen and controls it like a TV. In a terminal on the computer:
wget -O /tmp/pleatview.deb https://github.com/Hustlesman/pleatview/releases/latest/download/pleatview_$(dpkg --print-architecture).deb
sudo apt install /tmp/pleatview.debThen pleatview-kiosk autostart on a desktop, or sudo pleatview-kiosk enable without one, opens it whenever the computer starts. More in the Linux guide.
- Checked by hand on a Raspberry Pi 5 with Raspberry Pi OS 13, on a monitor and a TV: pairing, dashboards, notifications, video with sound over HDMI, cameras, Webpage dashboards, standby and starting at login.
turn_offputs the screen to sleep without logging the Raspberry Pi desktop out, and sends HDMI-CEC standby on both HDMI ports.- Not yet in the Linux app: sign-ins for dashboards behind a password.
pleatview_amd64.debandpleatview_arm64.debare inSHA256SUMSand carry build attestations:gh attestation verify pleatview_arm64.deb --repo Hustlesman/pleatview.
The Android app and the Home Assistant integration are the same as in 1.0.8; only their version numbers changed.

PleatView v1.0.8
What's new
These fixes come from testing on an Android 11 phone emulator with a 360 dp screen, the width of most Samsung phones:
- Phones: nothing runs off the screen. Notification cards and the menu were wider than a phone's screen. Inside PleatView and over other apps, a card's right side was cut off, and long messages lost words. On a 360 dp phone the menu's left edge was cut off. They now fit, and so do long titles in the now-playing bar. A phone turned sideways shows the sign-in card's QR code beside the text, no longer below the screen.
- Media follows the device's "Home Assistant URL". This option used to apply only to dashboards. Video, announcements, camera streams and notification pictures now use it too. Update the integration if you set it.
- Saved sign-ins after a reload. After a reload, PleatView could judge a saved sign-in for a login form rejected while the page was still loading. It then asked for the password again.
What's Changed
- Release 1.0.8: phones' cards, menu and media; media follows the Home Assistant URL option by @FleRoYs in #67

PleatView v1.0.7
What's new
Fixes from the first test on a real phone (Galaxy S23):
- Lock screen (security). On a phone or tablet with a PIN, pattern or password, Home Assistant can no longer wake the screen and show PleatView over the lock screen. Up to 1.0.6 a cast did that, and the dashboard's controls worked without unlocking. Casts now wait until the device is unlocked. TVs, and tablets whose lock is None or Swipe, wake as before. Update if you use PleatView on a phone or tablet with a screen lock.
- Full-screen video on phones. No more thin frame around the black bars in portrait.
- Home Assistant 2026.11. Every check passes on 2026.11.0, and PleatView installs from the built-in Marketplace without a GitHub account.

- Phones and tablets: no dashboard over a PIN lock screen; no frame around full-screen video by @FleRoYs in #65

PleatView v1.0.6
What's new
PleatView now works on Android phones, tablets and Chromebooks as well as TVs.
- Touch. A tap shows a ⋮ menu button in the top-right corner for a few seconds. Touches pause dashboard rotation like a remote does, and a tap on the black standby screen wakes it.
- Portrait. The setup screen and the sign-in card stack the QR code under the text on phones and portrait tablets.
- Wording. Phones, tablets and Chromebooks say "this device" and "Enter here". TVs are unchanged.
- Battery sensors. Tablets and phones get
sensor.<device>_batteryandbinary_sensor.<device>_chargingin Home Assistant, for example to switch a wall tablet's smart plug on and off. TVs get neither. - Installing. On a phone or tablet, open
pleatview.hustlesman.com/apkin its browser. The Google Play version installs on phones, tablets and Chromebooks too, starting with the beta.
Tested on the Android TV, phone and tablet emulators (Android 16) against Home Assistant 2025.1.4, 2026.10.4 and the 2026.11 beta.

PleatView v1.0.5
What's new
More security improvements, following up the 1.0.4 review.
- The phone sign-in page shows where your password goes, for example Sent only to pve.lan:8006.
- A sign-in for a browser password prompt is used only on the dashboard that asked for it. Another port or address on the same device asks again.
- Home Assistant older than 2026.7 shows a repair asking you to update it. Those versions have published security bugs in dashboard cards, and a TV shows its dashboard all day, signed in. PleatView still works with Home Assistant 2025.1 and later.
- Camera and media links, which are signed for a day, are no longer kept in Home Assistant's history.

PleatView v1.0.4
What's new
Security fixes from a review of the app, the integration and the release pipeline. Update both the app and the integration.
- When a TV gets a new address on your network, Home Assistant now follows it only after the TV proves it's the one it paired with. Before, another device on the network could take a TV's place and receive its tokens. A TV still on app 1.0.3 or older stays where it is until its app is updated, or until you add it again with its new address.
- The TV keeps its Home Assistant token only for the Home Assistant it was made for.
pleatview://dashboardlinks open Home Assistant pages and your dashboards only.- Nothing from the app is copied when you move to a new TV, including the web pages' sign-ins.
- Updated libraries and build tools: none has a known vulnerability.
- SECURITY.md now explains how PleatView protects your home, and what it can't do.

PleatView v1.0.3
What's new
- PleatView recovers from a frozen page by itself. If a page stops responding, for example after a Wi-Fi drop, PleatView starts it again within about 90 seconds. Before, the TV could stay frozen until someone restarted it.
- On Google TV, Allow display over other apps opens a list of every app; the menu now says to choose PleatView there.
- Tested with every automated check on Home Assistant 2025.1, 2026.10, the 2026.11 beta and the nightly, and a 42-hour soak test on a Chromecast with Google TV and a Fire TV Stick without a crash.

PleatView v1.0.1
Highlights
- Back works as expected after a sign-in card. Pressing Back after Not now on a sign-in card, then going home, opened the card again, titled "Home Assistant". Now Back opens the menu (#31).
- Rotation waits for Home Assistant. A dashboard shown with
pleatview.show_dashboardkeeps the screen for its whole duration, even with rotation on. Before, the next rotation step could replace it within seconds (#32, found by the new soak test). - A lighter sign-in card. The dashboard now shows through behind it (#28).
- Made by Hustlesman. PleatView now lives at github.com/Hustlesman/pleatview; old links redirect. Home Assistant's Marketplace names Hustlesman as its maker.
- Verifiable downloads. Every file in this release carries a signed build attestation. Check one with
gh attestation verify pleatview.apk --repo Hustlesman/pleatview. The signing key is the same as before (SHA-25627:7B:CC:FA:…:3A:E3:73), so 1.0.1 installs over 1.0.0 as an update.
Tested with all 15 end-to-end checks on Android TV 16 against Home Assistant 2026.10.4.

PleatView v1.0.0
What's new since v0.1.1
- Sign in to any dashboard. If a dashboard shows a login form or a password prompt, the TV shows a QR code: sign in on your phone, and PleatView remembers it. Sign-ins are encrypted and stay on the TV; Home Assistant never gets the password.
- Webpage dashboards just work. Grafana, OpenSearch, UniFi and other sites now open directly on the TV instead of inside Home Assistant's frame, which many sites block. PleatView's zoom setting applies to them too.
- Easier setup.
- The TV's setup screen has a QR code.
- A discovered TV goes straight to the PIN.
- Adding a TV by its address works even when Home Assistant has already discovered it.
- Fire TV fixes.
- PleatView opens by itself after a reboot.
- Home Assistant shows the right source name.
- Notification pictures can be animated GIFs. They move on Android 10 and later, and show their first frame on older TVs.
- Home Assistant 2025.1 works again, and discovery no longer moves a TV to an address Home Assistant can't reach.
- New icon and logo, also shown in Home Assistant's Devices & services and in its built-in Marketplace (Home Assistant 2026.11).
Install or update
- TV: on Fire TV or Google TV, open Downloader with
pleatview.hustlesman.com/apk. Installing over an earlier version keeps the pairing. - Home Assistant: in HACS (or Settings → Marketplace from 2026.11), add PleatView, or update it, then restart Home Assistant.
