Brand request: nostr #19641
Comments
Is this icon representing a brand? |
@tagliala Yes, this is representing a brand. |
Thanks. The official website is |
I'm not sure if it is the official website, but nostr-protocol/nostr is the GitHub repository. Many related projects use the ostrich as a motif. |
Is there an official icon and brand guidelines in the repository? |
No, there is not. |
I'd also like to see this. Curious what design y'all settle on because the ostrich icons I've seen don't read well at small sizes. Here are a few examples of prior art: https://github.com/satscoffee/nostr_icons |
The one here is a great design and already been in use by the Nostr community and Lightning Network, including GetAlby, Zeus and Amethyst app: https://github.com/SovrynMatt/Nostr-Website-Button-Design It would be nice to have this icon on FontAwesome. |
for this purpose, nostr would not be considered a brand. It doesn't have a central agency that has designed a logo or is in charge of branding guidelines. All logos (multiple) have been vreated by the community. The ostrich that was posted is a good one. I would also put the "n" up for consideration. I'll need to find the file |
It would be great to see this coming to be... Nostr its a protocol so its hard to define it in terms of branding, no central authority so hard to reach a consensus on the logo (all goods things for its users of course)... In any case would it help to create a project with specs for a suggested "brand" guidelines? |

wow its been over 1 year and nothing ..... 0_o +1, Do you want me to make a pull request ?? |
I'm not sure if the guidelines will need a review. Nostr (and similar decentralised protocols) will never have a centralised authority. How was this decided with Bitcoin? There seem to be multiple icons (one for the tech and one for the currency). It is similar to having no central ownership as such. Was it most popular implementation or use? Nostr is starting to become popular and I think it would be time to add it to Font-Awasome. This would be another contender: https://github.com/mbarulli/nostr-logo, which adds the "n" outline as a nice touch. But I am not fussed as long as there is at least one (and the ostrich is universally accepted by now). |
Why has this not been added yet? |
This would be a really cool addition! |
+1 this looks like the same logo used on nostr.com which links to the github project for the protocol |

Why not add both icons with different names? Maybe something like "nostrich" for the ostrich icon and "nostr-n" for the "n" icon |
+1 on this. Nostr is going to be bigger than The Beatles. |
Use case
To help link to profiles on the nostr protocol
