Icon Request: vimeo (non-square)

Thanks for fa-vimeo-square in version 4.0. But the "square" version does not fit my designs. Can you provide a non square version? Thanks.

The non-square isn't an official vimeo logo. I'm trying to respect brand marks as much as possible. According to http://vimeo.com/about/brand_guidelines, the v by itself is not something they consider acceptable, and the whole logo is too wide to include.

I do understand the desire to respect brands guidelines... But lack of a non-square version restricts usage, especially when interaction is considered.

For example, see the design below I'm trying to recreate (sorry for poor quality screengrab), showing the hover state on the right hand icon:

The best way to do this would be have the non-boxed icon, then recreate the box around it (in line with the brand guidelines), changing the color / background color on hover.

So, personally I would argue that respecting brand guidelines should be the responsibility of the person implementing the icon (especially as by nature a font has no control of the colours used).

@MerlinBB makes the best point. Also, sometimes clients don’t care and just want the V to stand alone. I’m currently in this situation now.

+1 Despite vimeo guidelines, the given context favors the single "v" icon. Otherwise it would become inconsistent, which in turn means unuseful.

+1 It's really restrictive being limited to a square background. All icons should appear without any kind of box, allowing us to stack using the icon shapes for background or whatever else we want.

I can echo the same sentiments of displaying the logo without a background.

When used without a background, the icon should have clear space on all sides, in proportion with the prescribed padding. Please ensure that no other elements (text, images, other icons, lasers, etc.) appear within this space.

So, maybe it's ok with adequate spacing?

The Vimeo icons Zip file now includes the lowercase ‘v’ without any border whatsoever. As @justintucker mentioned, the icon no longer demands placement inside a square, but just with prescribed amounts of padding.
