JavaScript apps can now build JSX UIs directly, including <svg> elements, Tailwind-style layout classes, pointer handlers such as clicks/swipes, and hover/active/group-hover states.
JSX/SVG scenes repaint only changed nodes, making interactive UI scenes smoother and less wasteful on frames.
The built-in index scene now shows a Buttons row explaining what each configured button event does on that frame.
ESP32 LCD frames now show a FrameOS boot splash that indicates what startup is waiting for.
Added ESP32 support for the Seeed SenseCAP Indicator: 4" 480×480 RGB LCD, FT6336U touch, and the top button. Its default controls include screen toggle, next/previous scene, and left/right edge swipes.
Added ESP32 support for the Seeed reTerminal E1003 10.3" IT8951 e-paper panel, including the matching preset and touch wiring.
Added more reTerminal Sticky hardware support, including keys, touch as pointer events, voice input, fuel gauge readings, and Waveshare codec speaker/microphone support.
Self-hosted backends can now serve RGB565 render buffers for LCD-based ESP32 frames.
Bug fixes
ESP32 protected HTTP actions now stop after an unauthorized request is rejected; refused requests no longer continue into the protected handler.
ESP32 frames no longer busy-spin between renders, and scenes with a one-second interval render once per second as intended.
ESP32 LCD animation timing was fixed; fast LCD animations such as the DVD logo scene now run at normal frame rates instead of advancing extremely slowly.
ESP32 LCD startup no longer waits for the clock before continuing boot.
ESP32 rendering uses a more efficient text-outline raster path and optimized gradient filling.
ESP32-C3 firmware builds again.
JSX text preserves spaces correctly after the QuickJS update.
Photo/image handling in JSX scenes was tightened so kept images remain available across UI updates.
Maintenance
Reduced ESP32 firmware size through unused Wi-Fi/TLS configuration removal, smaller timezone aliases and input tables, no PPM support, and a smaller embedded Ubuntu font.
Updated the embedded JavaScript/TypeScript runtime to quickts 2026-06-04-quickts.2.
Synced timezone data.
Added or expanded ESP32 test coverage for animation timing, HTTP access gating, touch decoding, IT8951 panels, LCD splash rendering, SPIFFS cleanup, I2C devices, and firmware sizing.
Added documentation for JSX UI, realtime rendering, ESP32 image-size auditing, events, photos, voice chat, and new hardware support.
Improved CI so ESP32 firmware image builds and size checks run more broadly on pull requests.
FrameOS Cloud
The hosted cloud ESP32 flasher now includes the new ESP32 board and panel choices added in this release.
