Frasto UI v0.1.0-alpha.1
Frasto UI v0.1.0-alpha.1
Frasto's first public alpha is available for evaluation. It includes 35 Experimental component families for Astro, with server-rendered output, composable TypeScript APIs, and automatic styles.
The npm package was published on September 3, 2026. This GitHub entry documents that existing release; it does not publish a new package version.
Install
pnpm add @freight-px/frasto@nextFor a pinned evaluation, install @freight-px/frasto@0.1.0-alpha.1.
The alpha supports Astro >=7 <8. Frasto declares Node.js >=22; use Node.js 22.19 or later for fresh Astro 7 installs to satisfy the currently resolved transitive dependency engines. Consumers do not need React, Vue, Svelte, Tailwind, or a separate Frasto stylesheet import for the normal setup.
Included in this release
- 35 Experimental families covering actions, forms, display, feedback, disclosure, navigation, overlays, data presentation, and layout, including ThemeSwitch and Toast.
- A unified public website and documentation, with a compact component showcase and approved theme-aware brand assets.
- Six square Spinner variants: orbit, breathe, cascade, counter, typewriter, and refresh, with corrected direction, leader contrast, and reduced-motion behavior.
- Hardened Dialog/Drawer focus return, backdrop dismissal, and scroll locking.
- Named-import stylesheet preservation and narrow documentation layout fixes.
- An instruction-only Frasto UI skill and integration guidance for compatible AI coding tools.
Validation
The September 3 release record reports 34 rendered-contract tests, 222 Chromium/Firefox/WebKit browser tests, a 95-file package audit, a packed Astro consumer build, and human keyboard/visual smoke checks. CI passed for the tagged commit.
September 5 follow-up verification built the exact npm artifact with Astro 7.2.7, including all public families and a separate named-import page. Named-import styles, refresh Spinner rendering, and Dialog keyboard opening, focus, Escape dismissal, and focus return passed in all three browser engines. The published package source matched the tagged source after normalizing line endings.
The fresh install on Node 22.14.0 emitted an engine warning for Astro's transitive undici@8.10.2, which requires Node >=22.19.0. The build and focused browser checks passed on that machine; this does not establish full compatibility of the transitive dependency with the older Node patch.
Experimental limitations
Every family remains Experimental. APIs may change, and production-critical use is not recommended. Manual NVDA/VoiceOver review, broader physical-device testing, and real-project evidence remain incomplete. Automated accessibility and keyboard checks do not establish screen-reader support, and no family has advanced to Beta.
