Cairngorm 0.4.3 — pre-release
Cairngorm 0.4.3 — pre-release
This development pre-release includes the tldraw reload fix and installers for Windows, macOS and Linux. It is not a signed stable release.
Changes
- Restore an acknowledged tldraw canvas when the refreshed upstream resource is session-scoped and omits
canvasId. - Preserve fresh session/transport fields and the saved shapes, assets and bindings; continue rejecting an explicitly conflicting canvas identity.
- Add regression coverage and an opt-in native reload probe. Keep app, sidecar and installer versions aligned at 0.4.3.
Downloads
Nine installers are attached:
| Platform | Architecture | Packages |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | x64 | NSIS .exe |
| macOS | Apple silicon / ARM64 | .dmg |
| macOS | Intel / x64 | .dmg |
| Linux | x86_64 | .deb, .rpm, slim .AppImage |
| Linux | ARM64 | .deb, .rpm, slim .AppImage |
The slim AppImages require system WebKitGTK 4.1. Install libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0 on Ubuntu/Debian, webkit2gtk4.1 on Fedora, or webkit2gtk-4.1 on Arch. The .deb and .rpm packages declare their dependencies.
Verification and limitations
- Local Linux checks passed: frontend build/format/unit tests, agent and Rust tests, dependency audit, notices, terminal command tests, packaging and distro smoke checks. ARM64 package checks ran under emulation without GUI launch; they do not prove native ARM64 desktop behavior.
- The tldraw fix was separately exercised against the deployed service in an isolated Windows QA build: a manual Unicode label survived three reloads and reopening the same canvas. The source terminal remained responsive.
- Published
.deb/.rpmmetadata and the Windows installer resource report 0.4.3. Both DMGs contain 0.4.3 bundle metadata and the matching ARM64/x86_64 executable architecture. This publication check did not run the macOS app or install the final Windows package. - Windows is unsigned. The macOS packages are development builds; signing and notarization were not validated during publication. SmartScreen or Gatekeeper may require additional confirmation.
SHA256SUMScontains a checksum for every installer. Checksums detect transfer corruption; they are not code-signing or provenance attestations.- This pre-release is based on the public
devbranch. It does not modify protectedmain, enable automatic updates, or update the website downloads.
Cairngorm 0.4.2
Cairngorm 0.4.2 is the first release with public source. Keep your coding agents, terminals, files and Git in one desktop workspace.

Important
These are development builds, not code-signed yet. macOS images are not notarized. Only proceed if you trust the download; installation details are below.
What changed
- Proxies and company certificates: agent connection checks, AI commit messages, plugin sign-in and update checks follow
HTTPS_PROXY,HTTP_PROXY,ALL_PROXYandNO_PROXY, and trust the extra certificates inNODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS. Certificate checks are never turned off. A SOCKS-only proxy setting is reported as an error rather than ignored. - Managed Windows: agent sessions are recorded for restore even when PowerShell runs in Constrained Language mode.
- Projects: creating, renaming or recolouring a project is kept when the database is busy, and saved on the next start.
- Git: when Git cannot read the repository, the Changes panel says so instead of showing "Working tree clean".
- Terminals: panes stay visible and usable while the Cairngorm agent starts, and closing a detached window no longer brings a starting terminal back.
- Cairngorm agent on Windows: its shell tool tells the model it runs Windows cmd.exe, so commands use the right syntax.
Installation notes
-
Windows: SmartScreen asks before the first launch (More info → Run anyway).
-
macOS: drag Cairngorm to Applications. If you trust this unsigned build, remove its quarantine flag once:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Cairngorm.app -
Linux: the AppImage needs WebKitGTK 4.1 installed; the
.deband.rpminstall it for you.
Application docking and scheduled agent execution currently require Windows. See platform support for the differences between operating systems.
