Install a sideloaded Android Auto (Car App Library) app with the Google Play
install-source attribution Android Auto requires — entirely on the phone via
Shizuku, no computer.

Install

  1. Download UnknownAuto-1.0.apk below and open it (allow "install unknown apps" if asked).
  2. Open UnknownAuto. If Shizuku isn't installed, tap Install Shizuku and start it
    (Developer options → Wireless debugging → Shizuku's "Start via Wireless debugging" — no computer needed).
  3. Load APK… → pick the app you want in the car → Install → confirm once. A ✔ banner
    means Android Auto will accept it.

Android 8.0+ (minSdk 26). The APK is self-signed, so Android will warn it's from an unknown
source — that's expected for a sideloaded tool.
