Unified API (v1)

Cross-library API alignment with the sibling instrument libraries
(alicatlib, sartoriuslib, watlowlib). No deprecation aliases —
old names are removed.

Added

• find_devices() -> list[DiscoveryResult] (replaces list_devices())
  with DiscoveryResult / NIDaqDiscoveryResult matching the shared
  §B shape (ok, port, address=None, protocol=None, device_info,
  error, elapsed_s). Never raises — enumeration failures surface as
  a single ok=False row.
• Recording[T] wrapper (stream, summary, rate_hz) replaces the
  (stream, summary) tuple from record() / record_polled(). Sync
  facade mirrors this as SyncRecording[T].
• PollSource Protocol and PollSourceAdapter(session) for wrapping a
  polled DaqSession into the uniform poll(names) -> Mapping[str, DeviceResult[DaqReading]] shape. record_polled() accepts any
  PollSource in addition to the existing session/manager sources.
• NIDaqTransientError — new exception class for retry-safe NI codes.
  Initial set: {-200279, -200284}. Extend via PR as new codes surface.
• DaqSession.snapshot() returning NIDaqSnapshot (extends new
  DeviceSnapshot shared base). I/O-free — built from the cached
  DeviceInfo captured at configure time.
• TaskState enum (CREATED / CONFIGURED / RUNNING / STOPPED /
  CLOSED), exposed on DaqSession.task_state() and NIDaqSnapshot.
• DaqSession.recoverable_error_count public counter, incremented when
  the recorder swallows a NIDaqTransientError under
  ErrorPolicy.RETURN. Resets on every configure().
• nidaqlib.reading_to_row and nidaqlib.block_to_rows promoted to
  top-level public exports. block_to_rows returns
  list[dict[str, ScalarValue]] directly with per-sample t_mono_ns
  / t_utc reconstructed from block.block_period_ns.
• nidaqlib.units.to_pint(unit) — lossy-by-design unit-string helper
  covering TemperatureUnits plus a passthrough table for common
  voltage / current / frequency / pressure strings.
• ProtocolKind(StrEnum) (no members) — stub type carried on
  ErrorContext.protocol for cross-library shape uniformity.
• nidaqlib.testing.NIDaqFakeBackend alias for FakeDaqBackend.

Changed (breaking)

1. list_devices removed. Use find_devices(); returns
   list[DiscoveryResult] instead of list[DeviceInfo].
2. nidaqlib.sinks.base.reading_to_row private path removed.
   Import from nidaqlib directly.
3. block_to_long_rows renamed in place to block_to_rows and
   promoted to top-level. Return type changes from Iterator[DaqSample]
   to list[dict[str, ScalarValue]].
4. DaqSample class removed. No internal caller remains after
   block_to_rows returns dicts; row-oriented sinks accept
   Sequence[DaqReading] only.
5. DaqReading / DaqBlock timestamp standardization:
   • Renamed monotonic_ns → t_mono_ns on both.
   • Added t_utc: datetime and t_midpoint_mono_ns: int | None.
   • Removed DaqReading.midpoint_at (now t_utc).
   • Added DaqBlock.block_period_ns: int | None; removed
     DaqBlock.dt_s (use block_period_ns / 1e9).
   • DaqBlock.sample_rate_hz is now a @property derived from
     block_period_ns.
   • Block provenance fields (task_started_at, t0, read_started_at,
     read_finished_at, elapsed_s) retained.
6. ErrorContext.operation renamed to command_name. All ~30 call
   sites updated. New base fields: port, address=None,
   protocol=None (always None for NI).
7. NI error code -200284 reclassified from NIDaqTimeoutError to
   NIDaqTransientError. Callers catching NIDaqTimeoutError for this
   code switch to NIDaqTransientError (or the common base
   NIDaqError).
8. DeviceResult.name field removed. The mapping key already names
   the task. New classmethod factories DeviceResult.success(value) /
   DeviceResult.failure(error).
9. record() and record_polled() yield Recording(stream, summary, rate_hz) instead of (stream, summary) tuples. Sync wrappers
   yield SyncRecording[T].
10. Sink simplification: SampleSink Protocol and sample_to_row
    removed. SqliteSink and PostgresSink drop table_samples (only
    table_readings and table_blocks remain).

Fixed

• find_devices no longer raises on cDAQ chassis modules that return
  -200197 ("Device does not support this property") when queried for
  compact_daq_chassis_device. Discovery now swallows the per-row
  failure and returns None for the optional chassis field.
