A Python module to generate true random numbers.
pytrng contains a true random number generator (TRNG) based on physical events, and a pseudo random number generator (PRNG). It uses different inputs to generate a random bit array and does not need any special hardware.
Do not use the output of this package for encryption software!
The following TRNG input data is hashed (SHA1 to SHA512) and connected with XOR:
- mouse position
- time since epoch
- system uptime
- disk speed (create and delete a temporary file)
- sensor temperatures
XOR offers the security of the unbreakable One-Time-Pad (OTP). Each input serves as a key for the next input. The result is the new key for the next input and so on… That technically means that the result is the first input encrypted by the other inputs multiple times. To increase the security, the connected data is hashed.
The model of the PRNG:
pytrng is currently under development. You can find it on TestPyPi and GitHub. I am working to release it on the main Python Package Index in July.
