DX RUST v0.9.0: public preview

The first public build of DX RUST, a from-scratch Rust and Bevy rebuild of the original Deus Ex that runs on your
own copy of the game.

You need Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition (Steam or GOG). No game files are included.

Downloads

• dxrust-windows.zip: Windows 10 and 11. Unzip it and run dxlauncher.exe.
• dxrust-steamdeck.tar.xz: Steam Deck and x86-64 Linux. Extract it, then run dxlauncher in Desktop Mode
  once. Add dxrust.sh to Steam as a Non-Steam Game for Game Mode.

What's in it

• The game:
  • all 73 maps and every mission, the three endings and the credits;
  • the original AI, combat, stealth, skills, augmentations, conversations and computers, checked against the
    original scripts.
• Engine: a fixed-timestep simulation, so play is the same at any frame rate. The UI is crisp at any
  resolution and loading is fast.
• Controllers: full gamepad play with a radial aug wheel, Xbox and PlayStation glyphs, and menu snap-to.
• DualSense:
  • over USB and Bluetooth: a health light bar, adaptive triggers and rumble;
  • over USB only: HD haptics and infolinks through the pad's speaker.
• Lay D Denton Project support: play as the female JC with the mod's files. In the launcher, click
  Lay D Denton... and choose the mod's folder.
• Saves: five rotating autosaves.
• Setup: the game folder is found on its own (Steam libraries, GOG, Heroic, SD cards).

Known limits

• This is a preview. The whole game is implemented, but a complete start-to-finish playthrough is still under
  way, so expect bugs in later missions. Please report them with the map name and what you did.
• Not finished yet:
  • a performance pass;
  • Steam Deck tuning;
  • two credits easter-egg effects.
