v1.1.48

Choose a tag to compare

@HCLGitHub HCLGitHub released this 21 Oct 00:00

Fixes black or blank screens on older LG TVs and makes adding a source work with the remote. Thanks to everyone who tested the preview builds in #1.

Fixes

  • Black/blank screen and cropped panels on webOS 5 and 6: the app is now built as a classic script and uses LG's standard 1920x1080 app resolution instead of 3840x2160.
  • Source input with the remote (no mouse needed):
    • Up/Down moves between Name / M3U URL / EPG URL / Save.
    • OK opens the on-screen keyboard for the selected field.
    • Enter on the on-screen keyboard closes it and moves to the next field.
    • Back finishes typing and keeps the text.
    • EPG URL is optional. On Save, press OK to save the source.
  • Startup diagnostics: if the app cannot start, an error message is shown on screen instead of a black screen.

Tested on real TVs

  • LG QNED919PA (webOS 6)
  • LG OLED65CX3LA (webOS 5)
  • LG OLED C1 and GX
  • LG OLED C3 (webOS 25)

On 4K TVs, menus are now drawn at 1920x1080 and scaled up by the TV. Video is shown on the TV's separate video plane, so it is not limited to 1080p.

Install through Homebrew Channel, or download the IPK below and run ares-install --device tv com.qoder.iptv_1.1.48_all.ipk.

No channels, programmes, playlists or EPG data are included.

v1.1.47 (test build: source input and keyboard fix)

Choose a tag to compare

@HCLGitHub HCLGitHub released this 20 Oct 15:36

Experimental follow-up to the source-input problem reported on an LG GX in #1. The input defects described below were reproduced and fixed locally; the TV's native keyboard still needs real-device verification.

Input changes

  • Clicking a name, M3U, or EPG field no longer replaces its DOM node. Repeated clicks preserve its caret and selection.
  • Native focus/blur keeps the selected field and editing state in sync, including keyboard/Tab navigation.
  • While editing, Enter/OK no longer blurs or rebuilds the input or cancels the key's default action. Text, arrows, and IME composition are passed to the native input/keyboard.
  • Back still exits field editing; then use Up/Down to select another row and OK to edit or save.

Retains the classic-script file:// startup fix and on-screen boot diagnostics from v1.1.46. No stream playback logic changes.

Validation

  • 296 automated tests passed, including new input/focus/save regressions and existing playback/network tests.
  • Development browser: actual typing, Enter followed by further typing, Backspace, caret preservation, field navigation, synthetic IME events, three-field save, and editing an existing source.
  • Final production build: direct file:// startup, JS/CSS loading, and continued typing after Enter with the same input node. No console errors in this final startup/input check.
  • The real LG GX virtual keyboard, the original reporter's webOS 6 TV, and 4K/HEVC playback have not been validated for this version. The browser tests do not emulate the TV's native keyboard.

How to test

Install the attached com.qoder.iptv_1.1.47_all.ipk manually using webOS Dev Manager or ares-install. Select a field with OK or click it with the pointer, enter text, and try saving the source.

Please report whether the TV keyboard appears and characters are retained. If input still fails, include the exact TV software version, installation method, and whether you used the Magic Remote/on-screen keyboard or a physical keyboard. Do not post private playlist URLs or credentials.

No playlists, EPG files, credentials, or test sources are included. Latest and the Homebrew manifest remain v1.1.44.

Source note: The local source/build changes in this experimental IPK have not yet been synchronized to the repository. Use the attached IPK; rebuilding this tag or its GitHub-generated source archive will not reproduce these test fixes.

v1.1.46 (test build: classic script startup fix)

@HCLGitHub HCLGitHub released this 20 Oct 09:58
c81d62b

Experimental test build for the black screen reported on real webOS 6 TVs in #1. This is not a confirmed hardware fix yet.

Startup change

  • Uses a classic IIFE entry script instead of an ES module and removes crossorigin from local assets, avoiding the file:// loading restrictions reproduced in desktop Chromium.
  • Keeps the on-screen boot diagnostics so a loading failure does not leave an unexplained black screen.
  • No playback business logic changes.

Validation

  • Desktop Chromium: direct file:// startup, stylesheet loading, and the missing-script diagnostic path.
  • webOS 6 Simulator (Chromium 79): sampled 1080p H.264 live playback, continuous frame decoding, and channel switching.
  • 292 automated tests passed.
  • Real webOS 6 hardware, 4K/HEVC playback, and long-duration stability have not been validated.

How to test

Install the attached com.qoder.iptv_1.1.46_all.ipk manually with webOS Dev Manager or ares-install, then launch the app.

If it still fails to start, wait 10 seconds and post a photo of the diagnostic box in issue #1. Please also include the exact TV software version and installation method.

No channels, playlists, EPG data, or credentials are bundled. The stable Latest release and Homebrew manifest remain at v1.1.44.

Source note: The local build/configuration changes in this experimental IPK have not yet been synchronized to the repository. Please use the attached IPK; rebuilding the current tag or GitHub-generated source archive will not reproduce this test fix.

v1.1.45 (test build: on-screen boot diagnostics)

Choose a tag to compare

@HCLGitHub HCLGitHub released this 20 Oct 08:50
c81d62b

Test build for the black-screen reports on webOS 4 / webOS 6 (#1). It is a pre-release; the Homebrew Channel listing still points to v1.1.44.

What is new:

  • While the app starts, a small status box is shown in the top-left corner ("Loading... / 正在加载...", plus the Chromium version and whether ES modules are supported).
  • If the app fails to start, the box stays on screen and shows why, e.g. a script or stylesheet that failed to load, or the error message.
  • If the app has not started after 10 seconds, the box asks you to take a photo of the screen. Please attach that photo to #1.
  • On a normal start the box disappears immediately. There are no other functional changes from v1.1.44.

Install it manually, e.g. with webOS Dev Manager or ares-install com.qoder.iptv_1.1.45_all.ipk.
