Install Guide
-
Launcher: Prism Launcher (recommended) or the Modrinth App. Any launcher that imports Modrinth
.mrpackfiles works. - Java: your launcher downloads a suitable Java by itself. If you choose one yourself, use Java 21 (Java 17 also works).
-
Memory: give Minecraft 4 GB on a PC with 8 GB of RAM, or 6 GB with 16 GB or more. More than 12 GB doesn't make the game faster and causes longer pauses.
- Prism Launcher: Edit instance → Settings → Java → Maximum memory allocation.
- Modrinth App: the instance's settings → Java and memory.
- Download the newest
.mrpackfrom Modrinth or GitHub Releases. - Import it:
- Prism Launcher: Add Instance → Import → Browse → choose the file → OK.
- Modrinth App: press Install on the Modrinth page, or Add instance → Import from file.
- Start the instance. Mods download during the install, from Modrinth and from our GitHub releases.
Monumenta is already in the server list, and the Monumenta resource pack is installed and turned on.
These are off by default:
| Mod | What it does |
|---|---|
| Iris Shaders + Complementary Reimagined | Shaders. Turn both on together. They cost a lot of FPS. |
| Xaero's Minimap (Fair-Play) | A minimap. The Fair-Play edition is the one allowed on Monumenta. |
| CakeText Translator | Shows server text in Simplified or Traditional Chinese. |
Launchers handle optional files differently: some ask at import, some install them turned off. Turn a mod on or off in the instance's mod list (Prism Launcher: Edit instance → Mods; Modrinth App: the instance's Content tab).
Cakedition Updater checks for a new pack version each time you join a world or server. When there is one, chat offers:
- [Update when I close the game myself], or
- [Update now (closes the game)].
After the game closes, a window opens and installs the update. When it says it's done, start the game again.
Before an update, your server list and configs are backed up. After the update, chat offers [Restore server list] / [Restore configs]; all backups are also in Mod Menu → Cakedition Updater.
The update keeps your optional-mod choices, and the pack never deletes or changes a file it didn't ship: mods you added yourself and your server list are left alone.
The older versions on Modrinth (up to 2.2.0) don't have Cakedition Updater. Update once in your launcher, or install the newest version as a new instance. From then on, Cakedition Updater takes care of updates.
Xaero's Minimap is now optional and off by default. If your minimap is gone after the update, turn it on as described above.
This way the pack updates itself each time you press Launch, before the game starts.
- Create an instance with Minecraft 1.20.4 and Fabric Loader 0.18.6.
- Put
packwiz-installer-bootstrap.jarin the instance's.minecraftfolder. - Edit instance → Settings → Custom commands → Pre-launch command:
"$INST_JAVA" -jar packwiz-installer-bootstrap.jar https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HarrytheCake/Monumenta-Cakedition/packwiz/pack/pack.toml - Launch. The first time, a window asks which optional mods you want.
-
The game doesn't start, or crashes: report it with
logs/latest.logor the newest file incrash-reports/(in the instance's.minecraftfolder). Logs show your Minecraft name; edit it out if you like. - Please report pack problems to us, not to the mod authors or to Monumenta.
- Questions: the Monumenta Discord.
