Hengo beta1.1
Beta 1.1
Search inside collections and the project — Ctrl+K opens a search over the collection you have open or the whole project. Pick a state, action, function, variable or script and the editor goes there, opening the collection and the script on the way.
Delete a script (#12) — scripts can be deleted one by one, without taking the collection with them.
Change what a script extends (#13) — a script's base class can be changed after creation, and the editor shows what breaks before you confirm.
Hengo beta1
The first public build of Hengo is here.
Hengo is a node-based visual scripting tool for the Godot editor. You build game logic on a graph of states, actions, variables and signals, and Hengo compiles it into real, readable GDScript. No runtime interpreter, no lock-in: the generated .gd keeps running even without the plugin installed.

What's in it
- Actions. 350+ ready-made blocks across 28 categories (Move And Slide, Play Sound, Change Color, and so on). Search by what you want to do, not by the name of a function. Each action is a small GDScript file, so your project can add its own.
- States. A script is a finite state machine with
enter/update/physics/exitphases. Every state is a card carrying its own steps, with the transitions drawn right there. - Live debugging. Press Play, pick a live object, and watch the active state glow, the step that just fired light up, and transitions flash as they happen.
- Safe changes. Rename a variable and every place that uses it follows. No dangling references to hunt down.
- Real GDScript out. Zero runtime overhead, and your graph lives under
res://hengo/as project files you commit like any other resource.
Requirements
Godot 4.7 (Forward+ or Compatibility). Hengo uses 4.7-era APIs, older versions will not run it.
Install
- Download
hengo-beta1.zipbelow. - Copy
addons/hengo/into your project'sres://addons/. - Enable Hengo in Project → Project Settings → Plugins.
A Hengo tab appears in the editor's bottom panel.
Beta notes
This is a beta: expect bugs and unfinished corners. Two things worth knowing before you start:
- There is no Ctrl+S and no autosave. Your graph is saved as part of Compile, so compile often.
- Full projects built with Hengo live in HengoDemos. Open one, press Play, then read the graph that drives it.
Bug reports and feedback are very welcome in the issues or on Discord.
