SoundSwipe 0.5.6 (preview)
Download SoundSwipe.dmg, quit your older copy, and drag SoundSwipe.app to Applications. Eject the disk and open SoundSwipe from Applications. Check Settings → About for version 0.5.6; your saved settings stay in place.
Fixes and updates:
- Reject Chrome captures with no audio track or tracks that have ended, including capture ending while playback starts. Failed routes release their tracks and AudioContexts.
- Remove ended captures from an open extension popup while preserving the remaining slider and its keyboard focus. The Control button becomes available for recapture.
- Prevent starting capture before popup setup is ready.
- Keep one visible heart Donate button in the native popup footer.
- Refresh update troubleshooting, release instructions, and the saved minimal profile README and animation.
SoundSwipe Tabs 0.1.1: unzip SoundSwipe-Tabs.zip, open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, click Load unpacked, and choose the SoundSwipe-Tabs folder. If you already use an unpacked copy, replace its files and click Reload on its card. Invoke the extension in each audio tab and choose Control this tab. Controls live in Chrome. Full instructions.
Validation: 25 Swift tests and 11 companion tests pass. Three new regressions reproduce ended/missing tracks and capture ending during playback startup. An isolated Chromium check measured separate 20%/80% audio signals and verified independent mute, popup persistence, ended-capture row removal, focus preservation, recapture, restore, and tab-close cleanup. It used generated streams and substituted capture permission.
Both CPU slices compile. DMG contents, app signatures, copied-app diagnostics, widget snapshots, ZIP integrity, and SHA-256 checksums were checked locally. The release workflow script and YAML were validated.
This remains an ad-hoc-signed, unnotarized preview. If macOS blocks it, try opening it first, then use Open Anyway under Privacy & Security if you trust this download. Real Chrome source capture/toolbar permission, native capture approval behavior, Bluetooth/USB routing, and the full physical-device release matrix remain manually unverified. App and companion ZIPs and checksums are included. Changelog.
SoundSwipe 0.5.5 (preview)
Download SoundSwipe.dmg, quit SoundSwipe, and drag the updated app to Applications. Eject the disk and launch from Applications.
The main widget has one Donate button beside Sound Settings. It now uses a filled pink heart, clear text, and a pink background and outline for better visibility. It links to https://ko-fi.com/hiteshgupta.
The universal build, app signature, and disk image were verified locally. The widget was checked in both dark and light appearances. Audio behavior is unchanged. This remains an ad-hoc-signed, unnotarized preview.
SoundSwipe 0.5.4 (preview)
Download SoundSwipe.dmg, quit SoundSwipe, and drag the updated app to Applications. Eject the disk and launch from Applications.
Removes the duplicate Donate link from the popup header. The main widget now has one small Donate button beside Sound Settings in its footer, linking to https://ko-fi.com/hiteshgupta.
The universal build, app signature, and disk image were verified locally. The widget was checked in dark appearance. Audio behavior is unchanged. This remains an ad-hoc-signed, unnotarized preview.
SoundSwipe 0.5.3 (preview)
Download SoundSwipe.dmg, quit your older SoundSwipe copy, and drag the app to Applications. Eject the disk and open SoundSwipe from Applications.
Adds a small Donate button to the main popup footer, beside the mixing status and Sound Settings. It opens https://ko-fi.com/hiteshgupta. The header donation link remains available.
Validation: universal Intel and Apple Silicon build, signature and disk-image verification, and real widget snapshots in dark and light appearances. Audio behavior is unchanged from 0.5.2.
This remains an ad-hoc-signed, unnotarized preview. The app DMG, app ZIP, Chrome companion ZIP, and SHA-256 checksums are provided. See the tab companion instructions for independent Chrome-tab volume.
SoundSwipe 0.5.2 (preview)
Download SoundSwipe.dmg, open it, quit any older SoundSwipe copy, and drag the app to Applications. Eject the disk and launch from Applications.
Changes:
- Keep an existing app audio tap at 100% instead of recreating capture on the next adjustment.
- Stop retrying failed capture/route setup on every slider movement. Use Retry after granting access or correcting the device. macOS still manages capture permission; this does not bypass its prompts.
- Add Donate to the menu-bar popup, linking to https://ko-fi.com/hiteshgupta.
- Add SoundSwipe Tabs, an optional Chrome companion with separate volume and mute for user-selected tabs. Tab controls live in Chrome, not in the Mac popup.
For Chrome tabs, unzip SoundSwipe-Tabs.zip, open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the SoundSwipe-Tabs folder. Pin the extension and invoke it in each audio tab, choosing Control this tab. Full instructions.
Validation: 25 Swift tests and 8 browser audio-engine tests pass. An isolated Chromium integration check measured separate 20%/80% signals through real Web Audio, plus independent mute, popup persistence, restore, and closed-tab cleanup. That check substituted capture permission and used generated audio. Real Chrome toolbar grants/source capture, repeated native permission approval, and physical-device mixing still require manual validation. Intel and Apple Silicon slices, installer contents, signatures, archives, and checksums were checked locally.
This is an ad-hoc-signed, unnotarized preview. If macOS blocks it, try opening it first, then use Open Anyway in System Settings → Privacy & Security if you trust the download. The Chrome companion is an unpacked preview, not a Web Store release. App and companion ZIPs and SHA-256 checksums are included.
SoundSwipe 0.5.1 (preview)
A drag-to-Applications installer and fixes for audio format changes.
Install
Download SoundSwipe.dmg, open it, and drag SoundSwipe.app onto Applications. Quit an existing copy before replacing it. Eject the disk, then launch SoundSwipe from Applications and look for the waveform in the menu bar.
The ZIP is available as an alternative. Both downloads include SHA-256 checksums.
This is an ad-hoc-signed, unnotarized preview. If macOS blocks it, try opening it first, then use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway if you trust the download. No need to disable Gatekeeper.
Fixes
- Validate float PCM byte strides, packet sizes, and sample rates before starting a route.
- Revalidate routes when physical output formats, streams, or sample rates change; repeated notifications with unchanged formats do not rebuild them.
- Exclude other SoundSwipe copies from app controls and microphone indicators, avoiding capture of the mixer's own output.
- Isolate screenshot preferences so saved mix-at-launch settings cannot start capture during snapshots.
- Shorten the README and add installation, updating, and troubleshooting steps.
Validation
- 25 automated tests pass, including planar stereo separation, format validation, layout-change detection, and exclusion of SoundSwipe processes.
- Intel and Apple Silicon release slices build successfully.
- Local DMG mount, app copy, installed-copy diagnostics, and panel/About rendering pass.
- App signatures, DMG integrity, ZIP integrity, and both SHA-256 checksums verified locally.
Physical-device mixing, permission recovery, Bluetooth call-profile transitions, and the full macOS/hardware matrix still need manual validation. This remains a preview, not a stable release.
SoundSwipe 0.5.0 (preview)
SoundSwipe 0.5.0 adds per-app boost up to 4× and fixes audio, settings, and build edge cases.
Changes
- 1× / 2× / 3× / 4× boost presets in each app's output menu, with a 0–400% slider and soft limiter.
- Independent microphone/speaker mute restore levels on duplex devices.
- Restored volume, balance, and legacy EQ settings stay within supported ranges.
- EQ bands at or above Nyquist are bypassed when the device sample rate is too low.
- Unsupported surround output changes trigger mixer shutdown and restore original playback.
- Shortcut recording cancels when leaving Settings or switching tabs.
- Incomplete snapshot arguments no longer crash.
- Universal builds work with Command Line Tools as well as Xcode.
- Ko-fi support links in About, the README, and GitHub's funding configuration.
Install
Download SoundSwipe.zip, extract it, and move SoundSwipe.app to Applications. Requires macOS 14.2+; the ZIP contains Apple Silicon and Intel builds.
This is an ad-hoc-signed, unnotarized preview. If macOS blocks the first launch, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. Allow system-audio capture when first adjusting an app.
Validation and limits
21 automated tests pass. Both architectures build; local signature, ZIP, bundle version, and About-layout checks pass. Bluetooth/USB audio behavior, permission recovery, and live hardware transitions still need the manual test matrix. This release does not claim full FineTune parity; see the roadmap.
