Subject: Re: [ICPI/Data-Core-Competencies-using-R] Draft Agenda for Sessions 3 & 4 (#35)
some thoughts on the agenda:
* spend a lot of time on summarise() and probably good delve into count() with weights (easier than having to use group_by() with summarise() for simple review of data
Do you mean that we should spend a lot of time or that we are spending too much time? I heard that sessions 1 and 2 were heavily (primarily?) focused on Summarise so don't want to spend too too much time.
* using group_by() to create variables like proxy linkage without having to reshape dataset
can you elaborate? I'm not sure what you mean.
* avoid using reshape2 and focus on just tidyr::gather() and tidyr::spread()
We are already focusing only on tidyr.
* review all types of joins - full, left, anti, etc
I'm not familiar with anti, but are you able to present briefly within this section? we would definitely welcome it.
* spend most of time on just working with bar and line plots with ggplot()
since both bar and line plots are easily created and customized in Excel, we wanted to include at least some time on types that are easier to do in R such as bubble, histogram, violin, etc. we are covering bar and line as well.
