Ration 1.13.1
- An account's limits share the whole row in the popover: a ChatGPT account
with only the weekly limit shows it across the row, and an account with a
5-hour and a weekly limit splits the row in half. Claude's three limits
(Fable, 5-hour, weekly) keep a third each.
Ration 1.13.0
- A more compact popover. Each Claude and ChatGPT account is a borderless row:
its name, plan, IN USE and the Claude Code or Codex control on one line, then
every limit as a thin bar with its percent and reset side by side. The
account in use keeps its green tint, and sparklines show on the accounts in
use and on the ones you unfold. - Accounts you're not using fold to one line around their tightest limit.
Click a folded line or its chevron to unfold it, and the name line or the
chevron to fold it again; Ration remembers each account's choice. Switch
shows on an unfolded row. Turn folding off in Settings › Display › Popover
(Fold accounts not in use). - The account list takes the room your screen has: the popover grows with
your accounts and scrolls only when it would run past the screen, instead of
scrolling past the fourth account. - A click on a countdown shows the exact reset time on its own line under the
bar; click the countdown again to hide it. - The keep-awake notice and the hidden alerts drop share one strip under the
popover's header. - With Claude plan value on, each account's share is one line under the Claude
accounts instead of a line on each account. - VoiceOver reads each account as one sentence, says when a row is folded, and
names the chevron Expand or Collapse. - Everything new is in French and Ukrainian too.
Ration 1.12.0
- Keep awake: while an account is in use, Ration keeps the Mac from idle
sleep, so an agent run doesn't end in a sleeping Mac. It holds only on the
power adapter, the display still sleeps, and a closed lid still sleeps the
Mac. Turn it on in Settings › Features (it is off by default). - The eye button in the popover keeps the Mac awake for 30 minutes to 8 hours,
or until you turn it off, whether or not anything is in use and on battery
too, with the display on and no screensaver. A banner shows the hold, and it
ends when Ration quits or Keep awake is turned off. - While Keep awake is on, the menu bar and the ring bar carry the same eye,
grey at rest and blue while the Mac is kept awake.pmset -g assertions
lists the hold under Ration. - Codex account switching: move Codex to another of your ChatGPT accounts in
one click, with the Switch button on a ChatGPT card or the Codex line in
Focus. The card of the account Codex uses wears a CODEX tag. Remember each
account's sign-in once in Settings › Codex, where you can also link it to
its account, switch to it or forget it. Ration keeps its copies in your
login Keychain as its own items (not synced) and sends them nowhere. - Automatic Codex switching (off until you turn it on): when the account Codex
uses passes the share of its weekly limit you choose (75% by default),
Ration moves Codex to the remembered account with the most room, never to
one already past it, and tells you. It starts once you confirm that Codex
uses its default sign-in file, and pauses after a switch that doesn't go
through until you resume it. - Only new Codex sessions use the switched account: restart the running ones,
the ChatGPT app's Codex too, since it shares Codex's sign-in file. That
file,~/.codex/auth.json, is the one new place outside its sandbox that
Ration reads and writes. - Claude Code switching no longer loses the links between remembered sign-ins
and your accounts, or its automatic switching settings, when a refresh runs
before Ration has loaded them at launch. - Everything new is in French and Ukrainian too.
Ration 1.11.0
- The ring bar: the menu bar's gauges in a glass bar at the left, right, top or
bottom of the screen, big enough to read at a glance. It never takes focus
from the app you are in. Turn it on in Settings › Display › Ring Bar (it is
off by default) and choose Rail, small rings in a thin strip, or Capsules,
each gauge with its share left and its account's name. Subscriptions and API
accounts each get their own glass. Hover a gauge for its limits and resets;
click it to open Ration. - Resize the ring bar like the Dock: drag anywhere on it but a gauge. The
pointer changes over the bar and a grip appears beside it. The Size slider in
Settings does the same. - Auto Hide keeps the ring bar out of sight until the pointer reaches its edge.
- Right-click the ring bar to turn Auto Hide on or off, change its style or
edge, or open its settings. - Settings › Display › Rings chooses, for each account, whether its gauge shows
in the menu bar, in the ring bar, or in both. New accounts show in both. - Settings has two new panes. Display holds the popover, the gauges, the menu
bar, the ring bar and the rings; Features holds the feature switches that
were in General. - VoiceOver reads each ring bar gauge in one sentence and can open Ration from
it. Increase Contrast makes the unfilled part of every gauge stronger, in the
menu bar too, and menu-bar tooltips no longer repeat a provider's name when
the account's label already starts with it.
Ration 1.10.0
- Usage credits on Claude cards: the balance of an account's usage credits, the
money that pays for Claude past a plan limit, marked "off" when claude.ai's
switch for them is off. The account's settings list each grant with what is
left and when it expires, and Ration warns a set number of days before a
credit expires, as a notification, a line in the drop, or both. - Codex credits on ChatGPT cards: the credit balance ChatGPT reports with its
usage, also in the account's settings. - Show per provider: Settings › General › Features now shows or hides credits,
resets and token burn (Claude plan value) separately for Claude and ChatGPT.
Off hides it on that provider's cards and settings and silences its alerts.
All are on by default, and the earlier Resets and Usage credits switches carry
over. - Add API Account works like Add Account: pick Anthropic API or OpenAI API, then
paste its Admin key. An Admin key for the other platform is refused with a
pointer back. - The Ration icon steps aside in the menu bar while account rings show, and
comes back when there are none. - Anthropic API accounts no longer fail on the first day of a month: Anthropic
reports whole days only, so the card shows $0 so far, and a revoked key is
still reported. - Pressing ⌘, twice opens Settings once.
Ration 1.9.0
- Claude Code account switching: move Claude Code to another of your Claude
accounts in one click, with the Switch button on a Claude card or the Claude
Code line in Focus. The card of the account Claude Code uses wears a CLAUDE
CODE tag. Open Claude Code sessions follow within 30 seconds, with no new
login and no restart. Remember each account's sign-in once in Settings ›
Claude Code; Ration keeps its copy in your login Keychain (not synced) and
sends it nowhere. - Automatic switching (off until you turn it on): when the account Claude Code
uses passes the limit you choose (75% of the weekly limit by default, or the
5-hour or Fable limit), Ration moves Claude Code to the remembered account
with the most room, never to one already past it, and tells you. A switch
that can't complete is undone, and automatic switching pauses until you
resume it. - Claude plan value (off until you turn it on): what your Claude Code use
would cost at Anthropic's API list prices, next to your plan. After you agree
and choose Claude Code's projects folder, Ration counts its local session
logs. The popover shows the total for all your Claude accounts over the last
30 days (or 7 days, this month, or the billing cycle), each Claude card shows
its own share, Settings breaks it down by model and tokens, and History has
daily bars. Claude Code's logs don't say which account did the work, so per
account Ration counts only the time since it started tracking. It keeps a
hash of each reply's id, its time, model and token counts, never prompts,
replies, code or file names, and Stop and forget deletes everything it
counted. - The suggestion of which account to switch to no longer appears while you are
already using an account with room.
Ration 1.8.1
- After you dismiss the alerts drop, the popover says it is hidden until a
limit resets, with a Show now button to bring it back sooner. - Anthropic budget notifications say "through yesterday", like the card:
Anthropic reports whole days only. - An API account whose Admin key is missing from the Keychain no longer tries
to read it on every refresh; Replace… brings it back.
Ration 1.8.0
- API accounts: add an Anthropic or OpenAI organization with its Admin key to
see the month's API spend next to your subscriptions. Each has a card with the
month-to-date total (UTC month), daily bars and, if you set a monthly budget,
a meter and a rounded-square gauge in the menu bar. Settings shows spend by
day, tokens by model and, for OpenAI, cost by line item. Admin keys are kept
in your login Keychain and sent only to the vendor that issued them. - Budget alerts: API budgets have their own warning and critical thresholds in
Settings › Alerts. Crossing one notifies you and adds a row to the attention
drop, once per tier each month. - Anthropic reports whole days only, so an Anthropic card's figures run
through yesterday and say so. - Settings: subscription and API accounts share one Accounts list, with Add
Subscription Account and Add API Account under it. While Sort by weekly reset
is off, drag accounts into any order; the popover and the menu bar then
follow it.
Ration 1.7.0
- Cursor spend history: the Cursor card shows six small bars for recent billing
cycles and how this cycle compares with your average; History has a Cursor
section with up to 12 past cycles. Past cycles are read once from Cursor in
the background; only totals are kept. - A card's problem badge (for example "stale") opens that account's settings,
like the STALE word in the header. - An expired Cursor or Claude sign-in now asks you to sign in again instead of
going stale. - Ration no longer refreshes an account while its sign-in window is open, so a
background refresh can't pull you off the login page. - Alert thresholds: both fields of a row save together, a row saves about a
second after you stop typing when nothing would change on screen, and a
value that would be adjusted is marked (also for VoiceOver). Holiday labels
and thresholds typed in a field that still has focus are saved when you quit. - Claude warm-up: each account's Settings lists its recent warm-ups and whether
Claude accepted or refused them, including refusals carried inside the reply. - Cursor: a spend alert no longer fires twice when Cursor briefly reports an
earlier invoice date. - Settings › General › Diagnostics has a "Show test drop" button for checking
where the attention drop appears.
Ration 1.6.0
- When the popover header says STALE or OFFLINE, hover it to see which
accounts are not up to date and why. Click STALE to open Settings on the
account that needs attention; click OFFLINE to refresh everything. - An account that needs attention shows a "Needs attention" card at the top of
its page in Settings, with what went wrong and what to do: Sign in again,
Refresh now, or, when a provider changed its page, Check for updates and
Report it. The card goes away once the account is healthy. - A Cursor account whose sign-in expired now asks you to sign in again instead
of refreshing forever and going stale.
