@Iced-Cream Iced-Cream released this 24 Oct 19:40
01254ab

All eleven of MrScruff's Analog Rytm MKII mods (rytm-mods-src), ported to elemod for OS 1.74, now on core-ar2 0.6. The new piece is voice-dac 1.4: the DAC FILTER page now shows only the knobs the sound's filter type uses.

filter-hz-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0008 FILTER page FRQ popup in Hz
ctrl-all-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0014 (9831bdf) TRK + knob turns that parameter on every sound track; on the SYNTH page each track moves its own machine's parameter under the same knob; TRK + FILTER TYP sets every track to the type reached
env-reset-amp-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0015 ENV RESET reaches AMP and AMP+FILT
slice-loop-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0012 SLICE LOOP in the track menu (FUNC + CHRO)
comp-preview-1.1-os1.74.elemod 0006 compressor gain-reduction preview

kit-ab-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0010 NO + PLAY toggles edited and saved kit
euclid-accents-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0002 accent operators OR* to SUB* on the EUCLIDEAN page
velocity-humanise-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0003 FUNC + VEL on the TRIG page: random velocity per track
lfo-rnd-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0004 LFO RND page: random per-note offsets
voice-dac-1.4-os1.74.elemod 0013 (3a98e23) DAC SUM, and the DAC FILTER page's per-voice filter, shaper and polarity

What changed since v1.3

  1. voice-dac 1.4 (MrScruff's 3a98e23): with filter type LP1 or HP1, DAC FILTER leaves RES's knob empty (no dial, no label, and turning it does nothing). With type OFF, FRQ's knob is empty too. The graph no longer leaves a knob mark in an empty slot.
  2. The page follows the selected sound: switch tracks, or change TYP, and the knobs shown change with it.
  3. The page comes from core-ar2 0.6's page functions (elekloader/elekloader#179), which let a mod's page change with the sound.
  4. Nothing else is meant to differ from v1.3. The other ten mods are the v1.3 files, byte for byte, and the storage fields and lockfile are unchanged, so projects saved with v1.3 load with their settings.

This release needs core-ar2 0.6. voice-dac 1.4 does not link with core 0.5 or older. The other ten also link with core 0.4 and 0.5.

Use. You need elekloader at main from elekloader/elekloader#179 on (core-ar2 0.6), and your own stock Analog Rytm MKII OS 1.74 .syx. Build the core with that file (core-0.6.elemod), then pass it and the mods you want to elekloader.patch with --lockfile (see the README's Build section). Pass the lockfile you kept from v1.2 or v1.3 so your saved settings keep their place. These files contain only the mods' own code: the stock bytes they replace are named by address, length and SHA-256 and taken from your own OS file when you build. No firmware is included.

On OS 1.73, v1.0 still has all eleven mods.

Reproducible. Built from this tag's commit with elekloader b9006bf (irpina/elekloader main, with #179) and GNU binutils 2.42. The README's Build section produces the same files byte for byte. SHA256SUMS lists them. A full .syx you build gets a different hash with elekloader before and after elekloader/elekloader#166, which changed how the main OS is compressed. The firmware inside is the same.

Tested. On an Analog Rytm MKII running OS 1.74, with core-ar2 0.6 and all eleven mods (these exact files), every step of voice-dac 1.4's test passes. The build also carried a diagnostics mod that lets the test bench press the keys remotely; it hooks none of the places these mods use. The test covered:

  • DAC FILTER through every filter type, with the empty knobs doing nothing;
  • the page following a switch between tracks;
  • RES keeping its value when you go from LP2 to LP1 and back;
  • the LFO RND, velocity, EUCLIDEAN and COMP preview pages, as on v1.3;
  • the DAC FILTER settings coming back after SAVE KIT, a power cycle and a kit reload;
  • BD playing through LP2, LP1 and OFF: no dropouts and nothing audible.

Not compared side by side with a v1.3 recording.

Licence: GPL-2.0-only, as rytm-mods-src. The mods are MrScruff's work; the ports keep his code unchanged and note every change.

v1.3

@Iced-Cream Iced-Cream released this 22 Oct 17:42
e029f75

All eleven of MrScruff's Analog Rytm MKII mods (rytm-mods-src), ported to elemod for OS 1.74, now on core-ar2 0.4. Core 0.4 owns the parameter pages, so other mods with pages of their own can link beside these.

file rytm-mods-src what it does
filter-hz-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0008 FILTER page FRQ popup in Hz
ctrl-all-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0014 (9831bdf) TRK + knob turns that parameter on every sound track; on the SYNTH page each track moves its own machine's parameter under the same knob; TRK + FILTER TYP sets every track to the type reached
env-reset-amp-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0015 ENV RESET reaches AMP and AMP+FILT
slice-loop-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0012 SLICE LOOP in the track menu (FUNC + CHRO)
comp-preview-1.1-os1.74.elemod 0006 compressor gain-reduction preview
main-rms-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0009 VOL label lights when the main output is loud
kit-ab-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0010 NO + PLAY toggles edited and saved kit
euclid-accents-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0002 accent operators OR* to SUB* on the EUCLIDEAN page
velocity-humanise-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0003 FUNC + VEL on the TRIG page: random velocity per track
lfo-rnd-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0004 LFO RND page: random per-note offsets
voice-dac-1.3-os1.74.elemod 0013 (76ae299) DAC SUM, and the DAC FILTER page's per-voice filter, shaper and polarity

What changed since v1.2

  1. lfo-rnd 1.2, voice-dac 1.3, euclid-accents 1.2 and velocity-humanise 1.2 reach the parameter pages through core-ar2 0.4's page tables, instead of their own detours into the stock page routines.
  2. comp-preview 1.1 lists its preview through core 0.4's page-key lists, so another mod can add a page behind COMP too (for example duck: COMP, preview, DUCK).
  3. The page key's step, the header's title and the kept page are core's now. DAC FILTER is still shown only with DAC SUM on, and every view keeps its page when you come back to it.
  4. comp-preview's estimate pauses while core 0.4 reports the audio interrupt above 95% busy, and resumes below 88%. Only the preview's trace waits; the sound is never changed.
  5. Nothing the unit shows or does is meant to differ from v1.2 otherwise. The mods' storage fields are the same as v1.2's.

This release needs core-ar2 0.4. v1.2's lfo-rnd, voice-dac, euclid-accents, velocity-humanise and comp-preview do not link with core 0.4, and these need core 0.4. ctrl-all, filter-hz, env-reset-amp, slice-loop, main-rms and kit-ab are unchanged from v1.2.

Use. You need elekloader at main from elekloader/elekloader#155 on (core-ar2 0.4), and your own stock Analog Rytm MKII OS 1.74 .syx. Build the core with that file (core-0.4.elemod), then pass it and the mods you want to elekloader.patch with --lockfile (see the README's Build section). Pass the lockfile you kept from v1.2 so your saved settings keep their place. These files contain only the mods' own code: the stock bytes they replace are named by address, length and SHA-256 and taken from your own OS file when you build. No firmware is included.

On OS 1.73, v1.0 still has all eleven mods.

Reproducible. Built from this tag's commit with elekloader a92e6e6 (elekloader/elekloader#155) and GNU binutils 2.42. The README's Build section produces the same files byte for byte. SHA256SUMS lists them.

Tested. On an Analog Rytm MKII running OS 1.74, with core-ar2 0.4 and all eleven mods (these exact files, byte for byte), every mod's README test passes. That includes:

  • LFO RND, DAC FILTER (shown only with DAC SUM on), the EUCLIDEAN operators, FUNC + VEL and the COMP preview;
  • the header naming each page as the key steps, and each view keeping its page;
  • the VELOCITY MOD menu keeping the mods' values;
  • the busiest build tested (DAC SUM and the preview, with fx-sends' chorus from AE-analog-rytm-mods beside them): nothing audible, and the controls stayed responsive.

Licence: GPL-2.0-only, as rytm-mods-src. The mods are MrScruff's work; the ports keep his code unchanged and note every change.

v1.2: all eleven mods on OS 1.74, with core-ar2 0.3 storage

afd461d

All eleven of MrScruff's Analog Rytm MKII mods (rytm-mods-src), ported to elemod for OS 1.74. The four that keep settings are back: they now keep them in core-ar2's mod storage instead of the OS's saved records.

file rytm-mods-src what it does
filter-hz-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0008 FILTER page FRQ popup in Hz
ctrl-all-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0014 (9831bdf) TRK + knob turns that parameter on every sound track; on the SYNTH page each track moves its own machine's parameter under the same knob, and a track with nothing there stays put; TRK + FILTER TYP sets every track to the type reached
env-reset-amp-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0015 ENV RESET reaches AMP and AMP+FILT
slice-loop-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0012 SLICE LOOP in the track menu (FUNC + CHRO)
comp-preview-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0006 compressor gain-reduction preview
main-rms-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0009 VOL label lights when the main output is loud
kit-ab-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0010 NO + PLAY toggles edited and saved kit
euclid-accents-1.1-os1.74.elemod 0002 accent operators OR* to SUB* on the EUCLIDEAN page
velocity-humanise-1.1-os1.74.elemod 0003 FUNC + VEL on the TRIG page: random velocity per track
lfo-rnd-1.1-os1.74.elemod 0004 LFO RND page: random per-note offsets
voice-dac-1.2-os1.74.elemod 0013 (76ae299) DAC SUM, and the DAC FILTER page's per-voice filter, shaper and polarity

What changed since v1.1

  1. ctrl-all 1.2: MrScruff's fix, so SYNTH-page knobs pair by position on screen, not by storage slot.
  2. euclid-accents, velocity-humanise, lfo-rnd and voice-dac keep their settings in core-ar2's mod storage. Their settings travel with the pattern, sound, kit or global slot they belong to, and survive a power-cycle without a save, as stock settings do. A project or kit opened on the stock OS loads as stock: the mods' bytes are ones stock never reads.
  3. velocity-humanise no longer needs euclid-accents.
  4. voice-dac no longer overwrites TRACK 1 and TRACK 2 MIDI CHANNEL (1.1 kept DAC SUM there).
  5. Settings saved by the older euclid-accents, velocity-humanise and voice-dac builds load as defaults. lfo-rnd 1.0's settings still load.

Use. You need elekloader at main from elekloader/elekloader#147 on (core-ar2 0.3), and your own stock Analog Rytm MKII OS 1.74 .syx. Build the core with that file (core-0.3.elemod), then pass it and the mods you want to elekloader.patch with --lockfile (see the README's Build section). Keep the lockfile and pass it again for every later build, so your saved settings keep their place. These files contain only the mods' own code: the stock bytes they replace are named by address, length and SHA-256 and taken from your own OS file when you build. No firmware is included.

On OS 1.73, v1.0 still has all eleven mods (with the older storage).

Reproducible. Built from this tag's commit with elekloader 19ce140 and GNU binutils 2.42. The README's Build section produces the same files byte for byte. SHA256SUMS lists them.

Tested. On an Analog Rytm MKII running OS 1.74, with core-ar2 0.3 and all eleven mods (these exact files), every mod's README test passes. That includes:

  • settings kept through a power-cycle without a save;
  • kit save and reload, and the +Drive sound library;
  • a kit sent and received by SysEx and by Overbridge;
  • the VELOCITY MOD and AFTERTOUCH menus behaving as on stock.

velocity-humanise was also tested without euclid-accents in the build.

Licence: GPL-2.0-only, as rytm-mods-src. The mods are MrScruff's work; the ports keep his code unchanged and note every change.

What's Changed

Full Changelog: v1.1...v1.2

v1.1: OS 1.74 (seven mods)

Choose a tag to compare

@Iced-Cream Iced-Cream released this 18 Oct 15:08

Seven of MrScruff's Analog Rytm MKII mods (rytm-mods-src), ported to elemod for OS 1.74, so they link with elekloader's core-ar2 and with each other.

file rytm-mods-src what it does
filter-hz-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0008 FILTER page FRQ popup in Hz
ctrl-all-1.1-os1.74.elemod 0014 (76ae299) TRK + knob turns that parameter on every sound track; on the SYNTH page each track moves its own machine's parameter in the same slot (MIDI CC order, not always the same place on screen); TRK + FILTER TYP sets every track to the type reached
env-reset-amp-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0015 ENV RESET reaches AMP and AMP+FILT
slice-loop-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0012 SLICE LOOP in the track menu (FUNC + CHRO)
comp-preview-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0006 compressor gain-reduction preview
main-rms-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0009 VOL label lights when the main output is loud
kit-ab-1.0-os1.74.elemod 0010 NO + PLAY toggles edited and saved kit

euclid-accents, velocity-humanise, lfo-rnd and voice-dac are not in this release for 1.74. They keep data in the OS's saved records, and will move to core-ar2's storage first. On OS 1.73, v1.0 still has all eleven.

Each mod's README in the repository has its usage, tests and results.

Use. You need elekloader at main from elekloader/elekloader#105 on (the Rytm's 1.74 release and core-ar2's 1.74 port), and your own stock Analog Rytm MKII OS 1.74 .syx. Build the core with the 1.74 file (core-0.1-os1.74.elemod), then pass it and the mods you want to elekloader.patch (see the README's Build section). These files contain only the mods' own code: the stock bytes they replace are named by address, length and SHA-256 and taken from your own OS file when you build. No firmware is included.

Reproducible. Built from this tag's commit with elekloader 05d571c and GNU binutils 2.42; the README's Build section produces the same files byte for byte. SHA256SUMS lists them.

Tested. Every 1.74 port is generated from its 1.73 source by tools/port_os.py, which moves and checks each firmware address. In rytm-emu, a build of core-ar2 with these seven and lfo-rnd shows the same screens on 1.74 as on 1.73 for filter-hz, ctrl-all (FILTER, TYP and SYNTH pages), env-reset-amp, slice-loop, comp-preview and kit-ab. main-rms needs a loud output, which the emulator does not produce. On an Analog Rytm MKII running OS 1.74, all seven work as their READMEs describe.

Licence: GPL-2.0-only, as rytm-mods-src. The mods are MrScruff's work; the ports keep his code unchanged and note every change.
