Thanks to everyone testing and reporting, especially on GitHub and r/recomps. This release fixes what you found. The Amiga sound mixing and the difficulty system are still works in progress.
Controls
- Strafe and fire together (#9): hold the strafe button (Y, or Left Shift), then press A to fire a Hellfire without stopping the strafe. This covers what the 6-button ROM hack adds, without needing it.
- Right-stick strafing: push the right stick left or right to strafe that way (Desert Strike, on by default: Settings → System → Right Stick Strafe).
- Strafe Speed (Settings → System): Original, 1.5x or 2x. The Genesis strafe is slow by design, about a fifth of full flying speed.
- Rumble (#5): in Desert Strike it now follows the weapons firing, so it works with unlimited ammo too. Pulses are stronger and longer so pads actually feel them.
Screen
- HUD and minimap anywhere (#6): both can go in any corner, with size sliders (Settings → Picture). The minimap now starts in the lower right, clear of Desert Strike's messages. If you'd already chosen a corner, that's kept.
- No more side bars after closing the map (#7): widescreen comes back almost immediately.
- No more sprite slivers at the edge of the screen (#11): big sprites leaving one side of a widescreen picture no longer show up on the other side.
Amiga edition
- Kilbaba slaps just once (#10): the intro's slap plays once, in its own scene only. The end-of-mission scenes show the general standing.
