0.4.0-rc1 — The cats have unionised 🐾
0.4.0-rc1 — The cats have unionised 🐾
The first public Tiny Studio candidate from Impossible Knot: a four-part cat band for the M-VAVE FM-1, built on Felucca 1.6.1.
Start with bongo-cat-studio-0.4.0-rc1.zip. It includes the firmware, exact corresponding source (with engines), installation/backup tools, compiled browser preview, licences and verification reports. Read INSTALL.txt inside before flashing. SHA256SUMS below checks the three release downloads; the ZIP also has its own internal checksums.
Meet the very small band
Watch / download the 32-second Short with sound · Animated preview and project overview
The opening composites actual Tiny Studio animation into an FM-1 product photo, followed by a musical tour of the firmware. Media credits. Tiny-Studio-Short.mp4.sha256 checks the video; the original firmware downloads and their SHA256SUMS are unchanged.
The staff have new powers
- Edit every part with 13 engines, eight engine controls, ADSR and effects.
- Record 1/2/4-bar lead phrases with visual count-in, overdub and undo; the three backing cats follow your key, progression and energy.
- Use the Live page for smooth mute/solo and external-clock-aware tap tempo.
- Swap each cat's sound A/B with Pawdo, including custom FM6 patches.
- Hold FX for Maximum Cat: drum fills, giant paws, flying hearts and a light chase.
- Discover Jazz Police, Cat Café and Purrbit through secret musical phrases. Their paperwork is purely visual.
- Play the actual firmware in the included browser preview and export stereo WAVs.
Install and preserve your jam
The tested physical route is Tiny Studio 0.3.0 → 0.4.0-rc1, on one FM-1. Make a verified backup first and retain your previous working firmware. For other starting firmware, follow its documented migration/recovery route. A Felucca archive is for returning to Felucca, not a Bongo jam import.
Package identity: FM-1_980. USB MIDI/audio name: Felucca. Normal Felucca updater/loader and recovery remain. The metronome starts off.
Evidence, without cat maths
Six sanitizer suites, all 4 parts × 13 engine editor checks, phrase/undo/save/cold-boot tests, 2,000 live gestures, real browser WASM/AudioWorklet tests and exact-package update simulations passed. In a 60-second hardware capture: zero clipping, zero new audio deadline misses, zero voices shed, and 38% CPU at the sampled moment. The existing jam and all 13 backup objects matched after installation.
This is a prerelease: one tested physical unit, no manual power-cycle check, no human inspection of every physical control, no long hardware soak and no exhaustive heavy-engine combination test. See verification.

GPL-3.0-only firmware; engines, DSP, samples and fonts retain their original licences. Huge thanks to Leo Kuroshita / Hügelton Instruments, Felucca's contributors and the projects credited in the bundle. This is an independent custom build.
Four cats. One tiny studio. Zero understanding of tax.
