MONO2K 1.6
MONO2K 1.6 for the M-VAVE FM-1: a pixel font of its own, every knob a picture, a track's chance, the FM-1's load.
A new type and knobs as pictures: the screen's type is MONO2K's own pixel font, one weight, crisp at whole scales. Every knob shows its value as a picture after Elektron's pages: a dial, a slider, an envelope or filter shape, a wave, a boxed choice, with its name under it; turn it and the value shows in its place. Rounded bars and tags.
HOME 2: press HOME again for the track in view's sequencing: TLEN (its own length), SPD, PROB and LANE.
A track's chance (PROB): every trig on the track plays with this chance, 100 % down to 0 %, on top of its own step condition. Patterns made before stay at 100 %.
The FM-1's load: GLO > PLAY shows CPU, CPU2 and DROP; when the sound runs short the screen says CPU FULL. A heavy pattern shows how close it is before it breaks up.
A lighter engine: a little less work a sample, the sound the same bit for bit.
A pattern using PROB opens only on 1.6 or later; every other pattern loads as it played.

- Leave it: install any other firmware as usual; MONO2K starts its update loader (Felucca's). Holding OCT− while switching on always reaches the updater.
The full list is in the manual's change log. Licence GPL-3.0-only; the update protocol and platform are Felucca's and CS-1's (Hügelton Instruments), GPL-3.0; Grids' map is Mutable Instruments' (GPL-3.0); the type is adapted from "Elektron Pixel Font" by savingaurora (FontStruct, CC BY-SA 3.0), the adaptation under CC BY-SA 4.0. Not affiliated with M-VAVE, Elektron or Torso.
MONO2K 1.5
MONO2K 1.5 for the M-VAVE FM-1: a new screen, tracks of their own length, a sound library of 96, a lighter bus.
A new screen: every page redrawn on a 4 px grid, clean and frameless, the picture the hero of each page; HOME's tracks as lines and blocks; lists like a menu. The type is now Silkscreen, a pixel font drawn at whole scales, crisp on the FM-1's display. Calm by default (GLO > SET > MOTN GLTCH brings the glitches back).
Controls: SELECT picks the track, ALGORITHM the machine, on every page. Hold EDIT for the sound catalogue: turn SELECT or KNOB 1 and each sound plays as you land on it; OCT+ keeps it, OCT− puts your sound back.
Tracks of their own length: hold SEQ and turn KNOB 2 (TLEN): each track loops its own length, 16 against 12 against 7, all restarting on PLAY and a new pattern. SEQ's knobs are LEN, TLEN, SPD, SWNG.
A sound library of 96: twelve sounds of their own character in each category (KICK, SNARE, HATS, PERC, BASS, LEAD, PAD, FX), across all sixteen sound machines. Sounds you saved stay.
A lighter bus: one BUS page (DCAY, DAMP, ADPC, DRIV); TAPE, HISS and the random glitch are gone, so heavy patterns leave the FM-1 more time. A01 loses its tape wobble, the demos their hiss; WOW and every PERFORM effect play as before.
Steadier on the FM-1: the screen goes out four times faster and only where it changed; frames come as the processor has room, and the motion is even.
A pattern that uses track lengths opens only on 1.5 or later; every other pattern loads as it played.

Not affiliated with M-VAVE, Elektron or Torso.
MONO2K 1.4.2
MONO2K 1.4.2 for the M-VAVE FM-1: a calm screen, a cleaner FILT, a steadier FM-1.
A calm screen: pages and values change at once, nothing flashes on an action. GLO > SET > MOTN GLTCH brings the glitches back. The splash is the same.
FILT: one curve, moving with the envelope as the track plays; page 2 laid out on even gaps, with a dot riding the envelope. A line now divides the stage's two halves.
Steadier on the FM-1: the two processors share the tracks evenly (the heaviest patterns need about a tenth less time) and the screen waits for the sound when they are busy. The sound is the same, bit for bit.
Your patterns load as they played.

MONO2K 1.4
MONO2K 1.4 for the M-VAVE FM-1: PERFORM's second bank.
Two banks: hold FX and play the black keys; OCT+ switches to bank B, OCT− back to A. A held effect keeps going when you switch.
Bank B:
- FREEZE: the last eighth held as a seamless sustain.
- SCATTER: the last beat's sixteenths replayed shuffled, on the grid.
- ROLL: a repeat that halves every beat, down to 1/32.
- OCT DN, OCT UP: the whole mix an octave down or up.
- LPF, HPF: resonant sweeps over a bar, back open when you let go.
- GATE: a 1/16 gate on the grid.
- DUB: the mix thrown into an echo that rings on after you let go (it borrows a free track's delay; "NO DELAY FREE" if none is).
- SHIMMER: an octave-up reverb wash.
- SPIN: a vinyl spin-back.
Bank A, reviewed: STOP now slows the sound you press it on (it slowed the sound from 0.7 s before) and lands back on the beat; KILL and DRIVE no longer click going in. No effect clips on any demo.
Everything from 1.3.1 is here. Your patterns load as they played.

MONO2K 1.3.1
MONO2K 1.3.1 for the M-VAVE FM-1: a morphing splash, tidy windows, FILT fixed.
- The splash is one surface morphing from the wordmark through the waves, GND-SIN's dome and the folds back into the letters, with one camera move and no cuts. Any key skips it.
- Held windows and cards (GLO, HOME, EDIT, SEQ, LFO held, the latched ones, the PLAY card, the clear ring, the questions, the tempo) share one layout: a title bar, aligned key and action columns, and GLO's white keys drawn with the mutes on them.
- FILT draws the same band on both pages for the same knobs, the envelope dashed over it (live while a note sounds), and its plot stays clear of the screen's edge.
Everything from 1.3 is here: Grids, mutes on the bar, the finer chances. Your patterns load as they played.

- Leave it: install any other firmware as usual; MONO2K starts its update loader (Felucca's). Holding OCT− while switching on always reaches the updater.
The full list is in the manual's change log. Grids is Émilie Gillet's (Mutable Instruments), GPL-3.0, ported with credit. Licence GPL-3.0-only; the update protocol and platform are Felucca's and CS-1's (Hügelton Instruments), GPL-3.0. Not affiliated with M-VAVE or Elektron.
MONO2K 1.3
MONO2K 1.3 for the M-VAVE FM-1: Grids, mutes on the bar, finer chances.
Grids, Mutable Instruments' topographic drum sequencer, behind ARP (press ARP again: GRIDS, then LANES).
- X and Y pick a place on its map of 25 drum patterns; CHAOS varies each cycle (the same at every PLAY); RES 16 (a bar) or 32 (two).
- BD, SD, HH set each lane's density; a track's LANE makes it play that lane with its own sound and accents.
- Stopped, OCT+ writes the lanes into the tracks' steps, to edit and lock (asked first over trigs; GLO + OCT− undoes).
Mutes wait for the bar: while playing, a mute, unmute or solo (GLO + white keys, F#5, MIDI CC 3) lands on the next bar's first step; it blinks while it waits. GLO > PLAY: MUTE BAR (default) or NOW.
Four more chances: 90 %, 60 %, 40 % and 10 %; PRESETS on a held step turns through the chances by size.
Your patterns load as they played (pattern format 18; no track follows a lane until you set one).

MONO2K 1.2
MONO2K 1.2 for the M-VAVE FM-1: a new screen, and the arp's HOLD.
The screen
- One grid, crisp: every page on the same bands and cells, 1 px rules, nothing crossing a line; long machine names never run into the picture.
- Bolder type in MONO2K's own letters, two-pixel strokes, bigger names and values.
- Header and footer as black bars: the pattern, the modes, tempo and transport on top; the bars, track ▸ machine ▸ page and the page count below.
- The LFO pages show all three LFOs, live, the one you edit highlighted.
- A new splash: MONO2K in dithered 3D, the engines' shapes rolling through it, folding into the wordmark. Any key skips it.
- Small motion: a knob's bar eases to its value, a step pops when toggled.
The arp's HOLD
- Tap ARP twice and the arp keeps playing after you let go; a chord played after your hands leave the keys replaces it. Twice again stops it. HOLD shows in the header, and the ARP LED pulses.
- A sustain pedal (MIDI CC 64 on the track's channel) holds it too.
Your patterns are untouched: this update changes the screen and adds the hold; the sound is the same as 1.1's.

MONO2K 1.1
MONO2K 1.1 for the M-VAVE FM-1: the sound and feel update.
The amp envelope and the LFOs, by ear
- ATCK, DEC and REL spend their knobs where the times are, and show the time you hear: ATCK 20 ms at 16, 67 ms at 32, 0.4 s at 64, 2 s at 96, 10 s at 127; DEC and REL 0.8 s at 64, 4 s at 96, 20 s at 127.
- The attack swells instead of sounding instant up to the middle of the knob; ATCK 0 stays the percussive 1 ms, and a note played over a sounding one rises from where it is.
- LFO speed, slow first: 0 stands still, 12 is sixteen bars, 60 a bar, 84 a beat, 120 a 1/32. SPD shows the cycle's time (16 BARS, 1 BAR, 1/4, 1/8T...).
- LFO depth is fine near the middle (72 swings two steps, it swung sixteen), and whatever an LFO moves glides between its steps: no zipper.
The bus
- GLCH starts subtle: low values give a rare, quiet slice under the music, growing to wild at the top, and every glitch fades in and out without a click.
- The reverb runs from 0.3 s to over 20 s (DCAY), and DAMP shapes the tail from bright to dark without killing it. The VERB page draws the tail.
- The sends are audible early: VERB 32 is 12 dB under 127 (it was 24), and DSND 80 gives a clear echo (a hat's delay was unheard).
- PERFORM locks to the beat: repeats start on the grid and keep the attack, RPT 1/4 is a whole quarter, REVERSE plays the beat just gone, STOP slows over a beat and spins back up; CRUSH, WOW and DRIVE come in and go out without clicks.
Playing
- Every machine starts as a sound for its job (a sine bass, a supersaw pad, an e-piano, a choir, a kick, a snare...), at a home note that fits it, and a new pattern has a bass, a kit, keys and a pad.
- ALGORITHM changes the machine only on EDIT, tonal machines first; on the other pages it turns through the page's own pages (LFO 1A to 3B, FX's four...).
- Ready: stopped with REC on, PLAY waits for your first note and starts the pattern on it.
- MIDI in by source: GLO > MIDI's SYIN takes the clock from OFF, USB, TRS or BOTH; the new GLO > IN page picks where notes come from and can pass the TRS jack's MIDI on over USB (THRU; about 17 ms late).
- Fixes: a trig taken away takes its condition and ratchet with it; SWAV-PUL's width sweep no longer drops out; FILT's picture stays on the screen; FX-DYNAMIX no longer lets a note's first peak through.
Your patterns load with their envelopes, LFOs, reverb, sends and glitch converted to sound as they did; bank A sounds as approved.

MONO2K 1.0.3
MONO2K 1.0.3 for the M-VAVE FM-1 (with 1.0.2's fixes, which had no GitHub release of their own).
-
GLO + HOME: the keys' mode. Each tap goes to the next: KEYS (play the track), PADS (a key per track, each at its root), GRID (the steps), then KEYS again. GLO + ARP still turns PADS on and off, and SEQ still goes to GRID.
-
A fix for the FM-1's chip: at 360 MHz, a 64-bit multiply next to a memory load could now and then corrupt a value (felucca-bsp's docs/CPU.md): a crash, a freeze or a click, at random. Every calculation it hit now runs the safe way, the sound exactly the same, and the build refuses the risky form from now on.
-
MIDI clock in: clock, start, continue and stop come through over USB however the host packs them, and in the middle of SysEx; the song position works over USB and TRS; with SYIN off, continue plays like start. Two FM-1s need a host between them to sync (a computer, an iPad, a USB MIDI host box): the manual's MIDI page explains.
-
The boot screen shows the firmware's own version.

PADS (GLO + ARP): each pad now plays its track at its root, the note the track's trigs sit on most in the pattern. Drums stay in the key they are tuned to, and a bass plays its home note. Before, a pad took the track's first trig, whatever it was.
