0.2.12

Choose a tag to compare

@J4KEWasNotHere J4KEWasNotHere released this 03 Aug 12:30

0.2.12 - Adaptability Improvements

Improved the conversion's reliability, through code shortening and instance support - mainly for ViewportFrames.

Added

  • Added explicit WorldModel support for Vide serialization and deserialization.

Improvements

  • Light Theme Visibility
  • Improved serialization for complex values including proper Vector3 handling.
  • Refined preview behavior so generated components use local module resources consistently.
  • Enhanced default-property filtering with better __readasnil support.

Fixes

  • Fixed resource generation cleanup order to preserve resources until module creation.
  • Fixed unsupported instance serialization paths that previously suppressed resources or produced invalid output.

0.2.6

Choose a tag to compare

@J4KEWasNotHere J4KEWasNotHere released this 31 Jul 11:49

0.2.6 - Fixes and Adaptability

This release brings major stability enhancements, expanded instance coverage, intelligent default-property filtering, and significantly cleaner output formatting during conversion.

Added

  • Modern UI Support: Added support for modern Roblox UI instances, including UIFlexItem, Folder, CanvasGroup, UIStroke, UIGradient, UIAspectRatioConstraint, and modern flex/grid properties.

Improvements

  • Intelligent Output Reduction: Automatically compares instance property values against default Vide/Roblox class defaults.
  • Clean Number Serialization: Wrapped all numeric values across UDim, UDim2, Vector2, Color3, NumberSequence, NumberRange, and Rect with %.4g formatting.
  • Comprehensive Class Definitions: Updated instance-properties.luau with complete coverage of GUI base properties, text/image properties, value objects, and 3D instances.

Fixes

  • Fixed Silent nil Returns: Resolved a critical issue where an unsupported child instance (e.g., unhandled Folder or missing schema) caused pcall to return error strings into child arrays, crashing readDataIntoVideCode and silently producing nil.

0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@J4KEWasNotHere J4KEWasNotHere released this 28 Jul 10:21

0.2.0 - Stability Improvements

Added

  • Story support: convert any Vide component into a UI Labs-compatible .story module ("Convert to Story"), and build placeable instances directly from a story ("Build from Story").
  • Story-vs-component-vs-non-Vide detection so only relevant conversion buttons appear per selection (e.g. a .story module now only offers "Build from Story", not "Build from Component").

Fixed

  • DYNAMIC_VIDE_TEMPLATE had a stray end instead of } closing the create "ScreenGui" { ... } table - every ScreenGui-based conversion generated non-compiling Luau. (#1)
  • Non-dynamic component template crashed when built with an internal override flag applied as a raw instance property.
  • Plugin's returned cleanup function toggled widget visibility instead of forcing it closed on unload.
  • Generated components no longer stamp arbitrary props keys onto the built instance as properties — controls in a story is for wiring specific values into your own create{} calls, not for bulk-copying instance properties.
  • Story preview now parents its built instance(s) to props.target and returns nil, matching UI Labs' expected story-function contract (previously returned an unparented instance, which UI Labs silently discarded — story canvas stayed blank).

Known limitations

  • controls in generated stories start empty; there's no automatic way to infer which properties a hand-written component treats as "parametric" without static analysis of its source, so wiring controls into your component's create{} call is manual.

Re-commits

  • Improvements and Refactoring, Source code will be outdated.
