Dev Whisper v0.3.0
Dev Whisper 0.3 is built for talking to coding agents.
New
- Knows your codebase. In a terminal or editor, Dev Whisper finds the repo you're in and uses its file names, functions and dependencies. "The paste text function in the paste file" comes out as
paste_textin@src-tauri/src/paste.rs. Toggle in Settings → Vocabulary. - Transcribes while you talk. Each phrase is transcribed at the pause after it, so long pauses cost nothing and text is ready sooner after you stop (223 ms vs 585 ms in our real-speech test, same accuracy).
- "Send it", "attach the error", "scratch that". Submit the prompt (needs "press enter" on in Settings), add your latest stack trace as a code block, or take back the last paste.
- Reply to a waiting agent. Add the Claude Code hook from Settings → Coding agents. When an agent is waiting, a pill shows in the widget; press ⌃⌥R, answer out loud, and the reply is pasted into that agent's window. If Dev Whisper can't confirm the agent's tab is the one showing, it pastes without submitting and leaves you there to press Return.
- Learns from your corrections. History keeps the original next to the refined text. Fix the same word twice and it offers to remember it.
Known limits
- Project detection may miss iTerm2 tabs and tmux; editor window titles need Screen Recording permission.
- Replies pick the window by title (folder name or tty), so a specific tab or split pane can't be targeted.
- "Scratch that" in VS Code or Cursor's built-in terminal sends Cmd+Z, which may do nothing there.
Install
Download Dev-Whisper.dmg, drag it to Applications, and right-click → Open the first time (the app isn't notarized yet). Existing installs update themselves.
