Writing Dashboard provides three powerful modes for AI-assisted writing:

• Chapter Generate - Generate new chapters using input method, pulling context from your Story Bible, character notes, and previous chapters
• Micro Edit - Refine specific passages with full context awareness, including 500 words before and after for seamless narrative flow
• Character Update - Automatically extract and update character notes with timestamped entries for tracking character progression

🚀 Quick Start

1. Install the Plugin

   • Settings → Community Plugins → Browse
   • Search for "Writing Dashboard" and install
   • Or install from GitHub: https://github.com/JHarp199345/Gwriter

2. Configure Settings

   • Go to Settings → Writing Dashboard
   • Enter your AI API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini)
   • Select your provider and model
   • Configure file paths to match your vault structure:
     • Book 2 Path: Your active manuscript
     • Story Bible Path: Your story bible file
     • Extractions Path: Your extractions file
     • Sliding Window Path: Your sliding window memory file
     • Character Folder: Where character notes are stored (default: Characters)

3. Start Writing

   • Click the book icon in the ribbon to open the dashboard
   • Select your mode (Chapter/Micro-Edit/Character Update)
   • Enter your instructions and generate!

⚙️ Requirements

• Obsidian installed
• An AI API key from one of the supported providers:
  • OpenAI (GPT-5.2, GPT-4, etc.)
  • Anthropic (Claude 4.5 Opus, Claude 3 Sonnet, etc.)
  • Google Gemini (gemini-pro 3, gemini-1.5-pro, etc.)
• No Python backend needed - the plugin makes API calls directly

📝 Important Notes

• API Keys: Your API key is stored securely in Obsidian's plugin settings (encrypted at rest)
• File Paths: Make sure your configured file paths match your actual vault structure
• Character Notes: The plugin will automatically create a Characters folder if it doesn't exist
• Surrounding Context: Micro-edit mode automatically extracts 500 words before and after your selected text from your Sliding Window or Book file
