  • More of System Data has a name. JetBrains IDEs: the current version's caches, and every version a newer one replaced, with its caches, settings and plugins, as one row to review. Unity's package cache and Asset Store downloads, and the editors Unity Hub installed. The Logic Pro, GarageBand and Apple Loops sound libraries. WhatsApp's chats and media.
  • Some things are no longer offered for deletion. The sound libraries used to appear as system app data with a Delete button; they are now listed with how to remove them from Logic Pro. WhatsApp's folder was an app group row whose delete signed you out and took every chat not backed up; it is now listed with that warning instead. Unity editors are left to Unity Hub, which keeps its own list of installs.
  • Sizes that counted the same space twice. The shared DerivedData row measured the whole folder, so every project's DerivedData was counted again inside it. A generic hidden folder holding a virtual machine or a pnpm store listed elsewhere counted those bytes twice too. Both inflated the total, Free up… and the weekly clean.
  • Emptying the Trash works with "Move safe items to the Trash" on. The Trash row was moved to the Trash, which leaves it where it is: nothing was freed, and the notice asked again for it to be emptied.
  • History survives a file it cannot read. It used to read as empty and was overwritten by the next scan. It is now kept beside the new one. A delete that finished while a scan was being written could also lose one of the two records.
  • Nothing is credited for what was already gone. An item whose folder disappeared after the scan, on a drive since unplugged, counted as freed and went into the history as deleted.
  • A program that will not stop no longer stalls the app. A tool that ignored the scan's timeout is now killed, and simulator shutdown and erase have a time limit, so a wedged CoreSimulator cannot hold up every later delete. Temporary-file pruning stays out of disk images mounted inside the temporary folder.
  • An inactive Xcode is told apart correctly when Xcode.app is a link to the selected version, as Xcodes.app sets it up.
  • A faster scan. Folders are measured concurrently and the catch-all walks each top-level folder on its own; the sizes are the same.
