SoundKeeper v1.1.0

The first stable release of the Jazzwind fork, based on Deimz/SoundKeeper.

This release promotes the previously published DPI preview to a stable version. The executable is unchanged from v1.1.0-jazzwind.1. The improvements are also proposed in upstream PR #1.

Features

  • Native Windows tray menus with Per-Monitor V2 DPI awareness and older-system fallbacks.
  • Five wait presets and three sound-duration presets.
  • Persistent settings, custom JSON preferences, and centralized source defaults.
  • Automatic sample-rate selection, with optional fixed-rate configuration.
  • Automatic interface language selection, plus English, Simplified Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and Arabic.
  • Current-user Windows startup registration and visible playback-error status.
  • English and Chinese documentation.

Original defaults are preserved: play for 1 second, wait 55 seconds after playback, and use a noise amplitude of 0.0001.

Download and usage

  1. Download SoundKeeper-1.1.0-portable.zip.
  2. Extract the entire archive to a permanent folder.
  3. Exit any older SoundKeeper instance.
  4. Run SoundKeeper.exe and right-click its tray icon.

Requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and an available audio output device. No separate Python installation is required.

The archive contains the executable, English and Chinese guides, and the MIT license. The executable is approximately 28.18 MiB. A SHA256 checksum file is attached for verifying the portable ZIP.

GitHub's automatically generated Source code archives are not compiled applications.

Settings and upgrading

Preferences are stored in %APPDATA%\SoundKeeper\config.json. Existing valid settings are preserved when replacing the executable.

Exit the app before editing JSON, then restart to apply changes. Use "sample_rate": "auto" for automatic selection, or an integer such as "sample_rate": 48000 for a fixed rate.

If moving the executable, disable the old startup registration and enable startup again from the new location. If you keep using the existing executable at the same path, no startup change is needed.

Validation and compatibility

All 30 regression tests and formatting checks passed. Both build methods embed identical DPI manifests. An isolated source-run instance reported Per-Monitor V2 for the tray windows at 144 DPI (150%). Application startup, menu operation, preference restoration, and startup registration have also been manually checked during development.

Keep-alive effectiveness depends on the audio device and selected timing. Very short sounds may not keep every device awake. Mixed-DPI multi-monitor behavior and broader device compatibility have not been exhaustively tested. Some drivers require restarting the app after reconnecting audio devices.

下载与使用

  1. 下载 SoundKeeper-1.1.0-portable.zip。
  2. 将整个压缩包解压到固定目录。
  3. 从托盘退出正在运行的旧版 SoundKeeper。
  4. 运行 SoundKeeper.exe，右键托盘图标进行设置。

手动编辑 JSON 前请先退出程序，保存后重新启动。自动采样率写作 "sample_rate": "auto"；固定采样率使用整数，例如 "sample_rate": 48000。

如果移动 exe，请先取消旧的开机启动注册，再从新位置重新启用。如果继续使用原路径下的现有程序，无需重新设置开机启动。

验证与兼容性

30 项回归测试和格式检查通过，两种构建方式嵌入的 DPI 清单一致。隔离源码测试实例的托盘窗口实测为 Per-Monitor V2、144 DPI（150%）。开发期间也已手动检查程序启动、菜单操作、设置恢复及开机启动注册。

实际保活效果取决于设备和所选参数。很短的播放时长不一定适合所有设备。混合 DPI 多显示器行为及更多设备兼容性尚未全面验证。部分驱动在重新连接音频设备后，需要重启程序。
