Majic Jungle Software
Majic Jungle Software is an independent game development studio founded and led by David Frampton, based in Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. The company focuses on creating interactive and creative gaming experiences with a particular passion for living, breathing worlds.
David Frampton started creating games back in 2003, initially seizing opportunities presented by the early days of the iOS App Store. His early successes, like Chopper and Chopper 2, laid the foundation for his subsequent projects. However, it was The Blockheads that marked a significant milestone, achieving over 20 million downloads.
The Blockheads, a Minecraft-inspired 2D exploration and building game, allowed players to explore randomly generated worlds, build structures, and mine resources. Its multiplayer mode enabled up to 32 players to collaborate and create within these virtual environments. Notably, The Blockheads was co-developed with the Canadian studio Noodlecake, particularly for its Android port.
Frampton's current major project is Sapiens, a PC game currently available in early access. Sapiens aims to push the boundaries of simulation games, focusing on the development of entire civilizations from the ground up. This project represents a culmination of Frampton's two decades in game development, showcasing his dedication to crafting detailed and interactive game worlds.
Majic Jungle Software's philosophy emphasizes creativity and player interaction. David Frampton is known for combining his passion for game development with extensive experience to deliver unique and engaging experiences for players. With each success, he reinvests in the next project, highlighting his commitment to continuous innovation and improvement within the indie game development scene.
