CMM 1.1.5: Jobs, and CMM on your phone
CMM — Context Memory Manager 1.1.5: a self-hosted, offline file manager for the memory folders and prompts of your AI tools. Website · Desktop Guide · Server Guide
This release also brings 1.1.4 (CMM on your phone), which had no release of its own.
What's new in 1.1.5: Jobs
- Jobs: leave an agent working while you're away. Run as a job on a terminal's title bar (or the docked column) turns it into a job, which keeps running in the background, like a
tmuxsession, after CMM is closed, restarted, updated or crashes. Ordinary terminals still end with CMM. - The Jobs page shows a card for each job: when it started, how long it has run and in which folder. Open one to see its terminal across the whole window, with Open in editor, Make a terminal (back to an ordinary terminal) and Discard, which ends the job and leaves no trace. Jobs also show as cards on the dashboard and in the navigation.
- Updating keeps your jobs: jobs started under an older version keep running after an upgrade, and CMM finds them again when it starts. Rebooting the machine, or uninstalling CMM, ends them.
- Server:
cmm.servicenow stops only CMM itself (KillMode=process), sosystemctl restart cmmand upgrades leave jobs running. Terminals getTMPDIR=/var/lib/cmm/tmp, because the service's private/tmpis deleted when it stops.
What's new in 1.1.4: CMM on your phone
- Phone layout: a bottom bar (Drives, Search, Backup, Trash, Menu) and a menu drawer with your account, theme, pages, full screen, Lock now, Sign out and the version. The explorer shows the files, the open file or the terminal one at a time, from a switch at the top.
- Terminals on touch screens: a key bar with Esc, Tab, Ctrl, ^C, arrows and Enter, so menus like Claude Code's can be driven from a phone. The on-screen keyboard types cleanly (Android autocorrect no longer arrives garbled), the page shrinks above it, and a vertical swipe scrolls.
- The Markdown toolbar fits a phone in one scrolling row, and uploading several files asks for the password once.
- Server:
cmm add-storagealso gives the folder's owner access to the files CMM creates, so they stay open to them in their own shell.cmm-server-setup.shtakes--https-port(for when another site already has 443) and--port, and its closing summary no longer turns on HTTPS in CMM by mistake (which made nginx answer 502).

CMM 1.1.3: Office previews, folder upload, light mode, and a tested Ubuntu server
CMM — Context Memory Manager 1.1.3: a self-hosted, offline file manager for the memory folders and prompts of your AI tools. Website · Desktop Guide · Server Guide
What's new
- Office previews: Excel (
.xlsx) and Word (.docx) open in the browser. PowerPoint, older Office (.doc,.xls,.ppt), OpenDocument and RTF files are converted to PDF by LibreOffice on the server, when it is installed, and cached. Files in encrypted folders are never converted. - Video: videos show a still frame with their length and size (they are never played).
- Upload folders: drop a folder or choose Upload folder here. The tree is recreated, OS clutter and
.gitare left out, and uploading again merges, asking once about names already taken. - Replace with file from computer… keeps the old version (in Trash, or as a version-history step) and See what changed compares them.
- Download several items as one zip.
- Terminals: dock them beside the editor, fold them with Ctrl+J / ⌘J, and drag a file from the tree onto a terminal to type its full path. The screen now comes back whole after minimizing, reloading or a network drop.
- Light mode: Light, Dark or System, per user, from the account menu or Settings › General.
Ubuntu server
This release was installed and tested on a real Ubuntu server (test report). Fixes from that run:
- The server package can be built on Linux again (it couldn't since terminals arrived), and it is 40% smaller.
- A move that finished while a page was reconnecting no longer leaves its folders marked busy until a reload.
- Claude Code in terminals: terminals run as the
cmmuser, and now find commands in its~/.local/bin. Settings › Security › Terminals shows the one command that installs Claude Code forcmm. - New:
cmm-server-setup.sh, one script that serves CMM on your Tailscale network athttps://<machine>.<tailnet>.ts.netwith a real certificate: system packages, Tailscale, CMM, nginx in front, certificate renewal, firewall, and Claude Code. Use--https-portwhen another site already has port 443. See Option D in the Server Guide.

CMM 1.1.0: terminals, memory backups and read-only drives
CMM — Context Memory Manager 1.1.0: a self-hosted, offline file manager for the memory folders and prompts of your AI tools. Website · Desktop Guide · Server Guide
What's new
- Terminals: open a shell in any folder or memory to run Git or agent CLIs such as Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex or opencode. They dock along the bottom like chat windows, several at once, and keep running across reloads. Admins only; off on a server until an admin turns them on.
- Memory backups: select folders and memories in the tree and back them up into a new, named memory on another drive, then copy them onto another computer the same way.
- The Drives page also lists memories on plugged-in drives.
- Read-only drives (such as NTFS on a Mac) show as view-only, with the reason, instead of failing when you write to them.
- Memories no longer vanish from the Drives page after an update: discovery remembers what it found and keeps searching in the background.
- The version shows on the sign-in page and the Drives page.
- Fixes: the right-click menu fits the window, backup cards no longer overflow, and auto-lock counts typing in terminals and editors.

macOS: the app is not notarized by Apple. The first time you open it, macOS says it can't verify the developer: open System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway (or right-click CMM in Applications and choose Open).
Windows: the installer is not code-signed, so SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. The installer lets you choose the install folder and adds Start menu and desktop shortcuts.
Linux: make the AppImage executable and run it (chmod +x CMM-1.1.0-x86_64.AppImage && ./CMM-1.1.0-x86_64.AppImage; some distributions need libfuse2 for AppImages). Or install the .deb with sudo apt install ./CMM-1.1.0-amd64.deb and open CMM from your applications menu.
The Ubuntu server package builds from source: see Getting started and the Server Guide.
