Backfilled tag. This is the last state of main before Mk3 work started. The firmware rewrite that became Mk3 landed on 2026-04-02, so this is cut at the commit before it.

  • The bundled Arduino libraries were dropped from the repo during Mk2, so this source archive does not build on its own. Library versions were not pinned in the README until Mk4.

Major Highlights:

  • Plyr Integration: Replaced native browser video elements with the Plyr library. This ensures a uniform UI across all devices and fixes playback issues specifically on Apple hardware.
  • Theme Customization: Added a new Theme Control Panel to the Admin Console. It includes 15 preset themes and a customizer for manual color adjustments.
  • Music Overhaul & Queue: Music now plays seamlessly across the Songs, Playlists, and Queue pages without interruption. The new Queue feature allows you to add tracks from any music page and reorder or delete them on the fly.
  • Books & Comics: The PDF viewer is now split into its own page for better performance. EPUB support has been cleaned up and is now fully functional. The Comic Reader now supports Webtoon infinite scroll and standard reading modes.
  • Comic Formatting: To use the comic reader, rename a .cbz file to .zip, unzip it, and place the resulting folder (containing the images) into /Books. The system will automatically identify it as a comic.

Stability & Features Update

Nomad is now stable on the main branch with several new features and improvements.

Notable Updates:

  • EPUB support: works, though formatting is rough.
  • Audiobooks: MP3 format with basic resume tracking; minor bugs may occur.
  • CBZ support: experimental; files may load slowly.

    • Non-blocking, background indexing for large libraries.
    • Safe on power loss; partial indexes remain intact.
    • Auto-updates changes; frontend detects updates automatically.

  2. Resume Functionality

    • Movies and Shows track playback progress.
    • Options for Play from Start or Resume.
    • Menu displays last three movies/shows; mobile shows most recent.

  3. Dark Mode

    • Toggleable across all pages from the menu.
    • Minor visual bugs may exist depending on browser.

  4. Admin Page

    • Full device control: shutdown, restart, flash mode, Wi-Fi, RGB LEDs, brightness, credentials, indexing, and file management.
    • Safe shutdown option for SD card health.
    • Real-time system console feedback.

  5. Stability Improvements

    • Fixed frontend NDJSON sync issues.
    • Crash recovery on large indexes.
    • Dynamic LCD brightness adjustment.
    • Streaming stability enhancements.

  6. Improved Library Support

    • Supports deeper folder structures for Shows and Music.
    • Flexible organization; media files can be nested at any level.
