Pocket Foundry 0.7.5

Choose a tag to compare

@JulioFerrero JulioFerrero released this 01 Nov 02:19

Play your own copy of Factorio on Android: the official Linux ARM64 build, run without emulation on the phone's GPU.

Install: open pocket-foundry-0.7.5.apk on the phone (Android 10 or later; Adreno 6xx or newer, another GPU with an imported driver, or any phone on the CPU, slowly), then import the Linux (arm64) .tar.xz from factorio.com/download. The app holds no part of Factorio: you bring your own copy. A new version installs over the last and keeps the game and saves.

Since v0.7.4:

  • Android 10: Pocket Foundry no longer closes as soon as it opens.
  • Settings -> Files no longer crashes the Files app before the game's first start.

Source: this release is built from v0.7.5, GPL-3.0. The runtime inside (glibc, Mesa, SDL, Termux:X11's X server) comes from the sources and build scripts in runtime/ and third_party/ at that tag. SHA-256 of the APK: 3bb86a6e6063089baa647eb5ccb94dc976f4eab4ddbd747dddbf1cf2e2594ce0

Play your own copy of Factorio on Android: the official Linux ARM64 build, run without emulation on the phone's GPU.

Install: open pocket-foundry-0.7.4.apk on the phone (Android 10 or later; Adreno 6xx or newer, another GPU with an imported driver, or any phone on the CPU, slowly), then import the Linux (arm64) .tar.xz from factorio.com/download. The app holds no part of Factorio: you bring your own copy. A new version installs over the last and keeps the game and saves.

Since v0.7.3:

  • Settings -> Driver -> Options opens the phone's usual keyboard, so a driver option can be pasted, and the dialog moves up so the keyboard no longer covers the box (#35).
  • realme 16 Pro (Mali-G615) plays at 60 FPS on PanVK-kbase v26.3.1, in Phones and drivers.

Play your own copy of Factorio on Android: the official Linux ARM64 build, run without emulation on the phone's GPU.

Install: open pocket-foundry-0.7.3.apk on the phone (Android 10 or later; Adreno 6xx or newer, another GPU with an imported driver, or any phone on the CPU, slowly), then import the Linux (arm64) .tar.xz from factorio.com/download. The app holds no part of Factorio: you bring your own copy. A new version installs over the last and keeps the game and saves.

Since v0.7.2:

  • Settings -> Files opens Factorio's own folder (mods, saves, config, scenarios, blueprints) in the phone's Files app, and it shows up as Pocket Foundry in any app's file picker: add or delete a mod, edit mod-list.json or config.ini, share a save (#22). The game files and the factorio.com login stay out of it.
  • Blueprint strings paste into Factorio's Import string from the phone keyboard's clipboard; Playing has how.
  • Mali-G615: PanVK-kbase v26.3.1 plays with one driver option, in Phones and drivers.

Since v0.7.1:

Install: open pocket-foundry-0.7.1.apk on the phone (Android 10 or later; Adreno 6xx or newer, another GPU with an imported driver, or any phone on the CPU, slowly), then import the Linux (arm64) .tar.xz from factorio.com/download. The app holds no part of Factorio: you bring your own copy. A new version installs over the last and keeps the game and saves.

Since v0.7:

  • Settings -> Check for updates turns off the check for a new version when Pocket Foundry opens, for anyone who'd rather it didn't contact GitHub. Thanks @tihonchik (#33).

@JulioFerrero JulioFerrero released this 31 Oct 00:50

Play your own copy of Factorio on Android: the official Linux ARM64 build, run without emulation on the phone's GPU.

Install: open pocket-foundry-0.7.apk on the phone (Android 10 or later; Adreno 6xx or newer, another GPU with an imported driver, or any phone on the CPU, slowly), then import the Linux (arm64) .tar.xz from factorio.com/download. The app holds no part of Factorio: you bring your own copy. A new version installs over the last and keeps the game and saves.

Since v0.6.5:

  • Phones without a GPU driver can play on the CPU: Settings -> Driver -> CPU, chosen by itself when the phone's GPU has no driver yet. It's experimental, slow and uses a lot of battery, and how fast it runs depends on the processor (#21).
  • Settings -> Graphics: Light turns off Factorio's smoke, clouds, decoratives, particles and shadows, roughly halving what the phone draws. On by default on the CPU.
  • Two resolutions below Default, the lowest marked CPU: the game keeps the same view and interface size, with fewer pixels.
  • Settings -> FPS counter, in the game's top-left corner.
  • Updates: when it opens, Pocket Foundry checks for a new version, shows what changed since yours and installs it with Update. Android asks once to allow Pocket Foundry to install apps.
  • On-screen controls in Factorio's own look: its dark slot buttons and controller glyphs, from your copy of the game.
  • Settings scroll on short screens, as do long dropdowns, and tapping an open dropdown closes it.

Source: this release is built from v0.7, GPL-3.0. The runtime inside (glibc, Mesa, SDL, Termux:X11's X server) comes from the sources and build scripts in runtime/ and third_party/ at that tag. SHA-256 of the APK: 63a020d8bb1ae3d66dddb7c122524252bc196787a5b56d3d4183a0bbd07aec19

@JulioFerrero JulioFerrero released this 30 Oct 20:35

Play your own copy of Factorio on Android: the official Linux ARM64 build, run without emulation on the phone's GPU.

Install: open pocket-foundry-0.6.5.apk on the phone (Android 10 or later; Adreno 6xx or newer, or another GPU with an imported driver), then import the Linux (arm64) .tar.xz from factorio.com/download. The app holds no part of Factorio: you bring your own copy. A new version installs over the last and keeps the game and saves.

Since v0.6.4:

  • If the game closed while Pocket Foundry was in the background, opening it again from recent apps now brings back the launcher instead of a "Not connected" screen (#9).
  • Mali with a PanVK driver: Factorio now compresses its textures on the CPU. Its GPU compression fails on these drivers, and on a G610 the loading stopped there (#15).
  • Phones and drivers: G610 and G710 now point to the G615 driver, since the G710 one doesn't start (#30), and G715, G720 and G925 to RC3 with the options that reached the main menu on a G720 (#9).

Install: open pocket-foundry-0.6.4.apk on the phone (Android 10 or later; Adreno 6xx or newer, or another GPU with an imported driver), then import the Linux (arm64) .tar.xz from factorio.com/download. The app holds no part of Factorio: you bring your own copy. A new version installs over the last and keeps the game and saves.

Since v0.6.3:

  • Mods: Factorio restarts by itself again after you turn mods on or off, instead of closing (#26).
  • Quit closes a game that's stuck, after 10 seconds (#19).
  • Imported drivers: builds with the same Mesa version, like the PanVK builds for Mali, no longer replace each other, and Logs shows which one is in use.

Since v0.6.2:

  • Keyboards: held keys now reach the game, so WASD walks (#11). Plug the keyboard in before starting the game.
