Semantic Versioning. Settings → About shows the section of the
running version; the release workflow uses the same section as the GitHub release notes.
When releasing, rename "Unreleased" to the new version and date (for example
## [1.1.0] - 2026-12-01) and start a new empty "Unreleased" section above it.
[Unreleased]
[1.0.0] - 2026-11-01
The first public release of Psalmcast, church presentation software for Windows, macOS and
Linux. It runs entirely offline: a dropped internet connection never stops a service.
Downloads
- Windows: per-user installer, no admin rights needed.
- macOS: universal app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
- Linux: AppImage and .deb packages.
Plans
- Free never runs out. You get the full library (songs, Bibles, hymns, services, media,
themes and presentations), presenting on one output, every import, local backups and all
the guides. A small "Psalmcast Free" watermark appears in a top corner of the projector. It
never covers lyrics or Bible text. - Pro removes the watermark and adds multiple outputs and the stage display, the Scripture
Listener, the phone remote and follow-along page, OBS/vMix control and NDI output, Planning
Center import and cloud backup. - 30-day Pro trial for every church. No card is needed; you sign in with an email code.
Pay in naira (Nigeria) or US dollars through Paystack. A licence check or network problem
never interrupts a live service.
Songs, hymns and Bibles
- Song library with full-text search (title and lyrics), sections and arrangements,
favourites and recent songs, and paste-a-lyric-sheet import. - Import a whole library from EasyWorship, ProPresenter, OpenLP, OpenLyrics, SongSelect,
ChordPro or plain text, with a preview, duplicate detection and a per-song choice (skip,
replace or keep both). Export to OpenLyrics. - Hymnals: find a hymn by number or title, import a hymnal, or add your own songs to one.
- Bible lookup and search with bundled public-domain translations. Short words are searched
as text, and the box shows whether your input reads as a reference or a search. - Scripture Listener (Pro): finds verses as the preacher reads them ("John three
sixteen", "Romans 8 verses 28 to 30", "the twenty-third Psalm") and suggests them or puts
them live. Speech recognition runs on your computer, with no internet needed.
Planning a service
- Service planner with drag-and-drop ordering, autosave and a details panel for each item.
- Songs, scripture, notices, images, videos, audio, PowerPoint and PDF presentations, web
pages, YouTube videos and live NDI camera/OBS feeds in one running order. - Reusable themes (text style, background, layout, footer) for songs, scripture, single items
and outputs. - Auto-advance and looping slides for announcements before the service.
- Pre-service check that warns about missing media, offline feeds and other problems.
- Planning Center import (Pro), and service packages (
.cpservice) for moving a service with
its media to another computer. - Printing of running orders and lyric sheets.
Going live
- Live page with Preview and Live panes; Black, Clear, Clear all and Logo; clicker and
keyboard shortcuts; quick search for anything mid-service; Quick View of your favourites. - Cut, fade, crossfade, slide and zoom transitions that never flash to black.
- Scrolling alerts that crawl across the screen.
- Multiple outputs (Pro): projectors, side screens, a foyer TV or a lower-third feed, each
with its own display, layout and optional blackout. Unplugging one never affects the others. - Stage display (Pro): current and next slide, a clock, countdown/count-up timers and
stage messages for the band and preacher. - Show slides on a Chromecast or Google TV over Wi-Fi.
- Show log and CCLI song-usage reports.
Phones, streaming and production
- Phone remote (Pro): control slides from a phone over the church Wi-Fi, show a stage view
on a tablet, and offer lyrics on the congregation's phones. Off by default and protected
with a PIN. - Use any output as an OBS/vMix browser source, including a transparent version.
- OBS and vMix control (Pro): switch scenes for each service item and react to Black.
NDI output where the NDI runtime is installed. A disconnected streaming PC never
affects the projector. - Live Production: switch cameras, stream to YouTube or Facebook, and record.
Safety and backups
- Local database with automatic startup backups, an integrity check at startup and full
backup/restore to a folder (for example a USB stick). - Cloud backup (Pro): scheduled backups to Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox (through their
synced folder) or S3-compatible storage. - Deleted songs, services and media go to a Trash, where you can restore them.
- Deleting the service that is on the Live page leaves the projector showing its slide.
- Automatic updates download in the background and install when you close the app. They never
restart Psalmcast while an output is open. - Optional crash reports, off by default, with no personal data.
Known issues
- Psalmcast is a new app, so Windows may not recognise it yet and can show "Windows protected
your PC" when you install it. Click More info → Run anyway. The warning stops as
more churches install it. - Smart TV casting finds Chromecast and Google TV only; AirPlay and DLNA are planned.
