Gewu Insight 1.1.0 — macOS

Gewu Insight 1.1.0 for macOS adds in-app software updates and the Zotero workspace/import workflows developed since 1.0.1.

Upgrading

• From Mac 1.0.x: download Gewu-Insight-macOS-1.1.0.dmg once, close the Gewu tab in Zotero, quit Gewu Insight, and replace the App in Applications. Keep your existing Gewu Database in its original location.
• After installing 1.1.0: use Gewu Insight → Check for Updates to download, verify, install and relaunch for future stable Mac releases. Daily automatic checks are optional. Installing an update always requires your choice.
• Keep a complete backup of the database folder, other managed roots and linked originals. Updating the program does not replace those folders. If installation is interrupted, reinstall the latest Mac App and reopen the same database.

Included

• A signed Mac-only update feed and signed installers, independent of Windows releases in this repository. Busy work, active Zotero sessions and unpaused Zotero imports postpone installation; the backend stops safely before replacing the App.
• Gewu Insight for Zotero 0.4.0: the same Gewu installation, workspace and settings through the standalone App or a Zotero tab. Guided installation, companion updates, Save to Zotero, and PDF preview are documented in the bundled guide.
• Loader → Import from Zotero: preview and copy a Zotero library into Gewu, preserving collection hierarchy, including empty collections, and following Gewu's Library/Associated Files layout. Zotero originals remain read-only. Missing files and unsupported content are reported; pause/resume and repeated imports retain receipts.
• Manual DOI conflict review in Paper Details, including explicit merge or correction of a DOI assigned to a different paper, while retaining managed files and Monitor provenance.
• Stable folder-name editing during background refresh, faster renaming of newly created empty folders, and corrected PDF/link icons.
• Updated in-App User Guide and 144-page PDF, including Mac updates on page 67.

Package and limits

macOS 14 or later; Apple silicon and Intel. Python and dependencies are bundled. This release does not change Windows.

The App uses ad-hoc integrity signing and is not Apple-notarized or Developer ID signed. Sparkle's Ed25519 signatures verify updates separately. macOS may ask again for access to the existing database folder after replacement. Do not disable system security or delete your database to repair startup.
