New

Updating and building the tools

  • "New version available" popup. When you use Build from GitHub source, a build already exists and the repository has new commits, the app now asks what to do. It shows the date of your build and of the latest one, the titles of the new commits and a link to all the changes on GitHub. Choose Update and rebuild or Keep this build.
    • Do not show this message again saves your choice: Update turns "Check for updates before every relink" ON, Keep turns it OFF.
    • New setting Ask before updating and rebuilding (Settings → Source build) to turn the question on or off.
1
  • Faster builds.
    • The app reads the remote commit without downloading anything: if it is the one you already built (and the settings did not change), nothing is fetched, no submodules are updated and CMake is not run.
    • Shallow clone without tags, with parallel jobs for submodules.
    • Ninja generator (Linux/macOS, when installed) and compiler cache (ccache or sccache, when installed) are used automatically if you did not choose your own.
  • Build progress. The log shows a progress bar with percentage, steps, elapsed time and estimated remaining time, steps are numbered (1/3, 2/3, 3/3) and the total build time is shown at the end.
  • Stop button next to Download now / Build now; those two buttons are disabled while an operation is running.
  • Relinker version button (runs relinker --version), also available next to the release tag.
  • Web input mapper with the Release source. tools/input-mapper is not a release file, so it is now downloaded from the source of the release tag (or the default branch) the first time you open it, and npm install is run if it needs dependencies.

Conversion

  • Extra arguments field (Conversion settings) to pass options of newer relinker versions that the GUI does not know yet. Options already set by the GUI are refused.
  • conversion_info.json saved in every converted package: relinker version, source (release tag or commit), repository, target, game name and date. The relinker version is also written in the log.
  • Import files… now also accepts nid_patcher, anyps5-input.ini and fonts (.ttf, .otf, .ttc).

Play and runtime

  • Check before start. Before launching, the app checks the package (executable, app0, param.json, original .prx files in libs/ on Windows) and shows a clear message instead of a cryptic error. On Linux/macOS it restores the execute permission lost after a zip or a download.
  • New runtime settings: controller vibration (ANYPS5_RUMBLE), controller speaker gain (APS5_PAD_SPEAKER_FALLBACK_DB), log file (ANYPS5_LOG_FILE), host game mode (APS5_GAME_MODE, Linux/macOS) and ANYPS5_HOST_REPORT=1 (ON by default). Each variable is set only when you change it from the default.
  • Screenshot gallery in the Play view: the latest screenshots as thumbnails, click one to open it.
  • Trophies: the number of unlocked trophies is shown after a run (PS5 and PS4 formats), with a warning if a trophy file is damaged.

Checks and support

  • NVIDIA driver check (warns about driver 610.47, known crash in nvgpucomp64.dll) and /dev/udmabuf check on Linux, in the requirements list.
  • Known errors explained in the automatic reading of the report: NVIDIA driver crash, /dev/udmabuf, out of memory, conflicting output filename, errors 126 and 193, lost execute permission.
  • Report or suggest button in the top bar: opens the GitHub issues of this project (report a bug with version and system filled in, suggest something, or see open issues).
  • Copy for bug (short report to paste in an issue) and Debug package… (zip with reports, settings and .registry.json files). User name, computer name and home folder are hidden in both.
3

Appearance

  • Sound effects (Settings → Appearance): short sounds generated by the app for buttons, tabs, dialogs, success and errors, with a volume slider and an on/off switch. They play only while the window has focus. Reset appearance also resets them.
2

Fixes and improvements

  • New app icon and logo. The "A" mark is now shown inside a window frame on a rounded square, so the app is easier to recognize in the taskbar, the dock and the shortcuts.
  • Settings → Source build: Reset now also restores the source and the repository URL, and these values are saved correctly with Save and close.
  • The Extras buttons of the controller editor are laid out in a grid, and the action buttons of the Play view are compact and balanced.
  • The window title no longer says "Unofficial" (the README still states that the project is unofficial).
Logo

Notes

  • No change to the config format: new settings use their default values on first start.

v1.1.3

Added

Input tab

  • Web input mapper. "Open web input mapper" starts tools/input-mapper (Node.js 22 or newer required, with a clear message if it is missing or too old) and opens it in your browser. The same button stops the server, which is also stopped when the GUI closes. Import the exported .ini with Import settings; it goes through the usual validation.
  • In-game keys panel. Read-only table with the overlay, fullscreen, screenshot and mouse-as-right-stick keys. It reads your current anyps5-input.ini and falls back to the defaults.

Runtime tab

  • All environment variables. A searchable panel with all 459 variables documented in ENVIRONMENT.md that had no option of their own. Only the ones you set are passed to the game. Values are checked (documented name, whole numbers, absolute paths).
  • Entitlements file. New "Open / create entitlements file" button. It creates the .ini with a short template if it does not exist.
  • Advanced options. Draw pipeline, pipeline journal, memory/GPU and diagnostics variables, with the ranges taken from the documentation.
  • Display index, trace bench, call-trace file, trophy-event tracing, video-out telemetry folder, store at label.
  • Disable Dozen. Updated label and hint.

Conversion tab

  • --frame-red-zone (Windows only, requires --windows).
  • Verify converted output (--verify-output) and Show relinker version (--version).
  • Import audit: --strict-stubs, --strict-providers and --source.
  • Patch advisor. Runs tools/suggest_patches.py on the selected game against a local patch catalog (--timeout-seconds and --list-verified supported). A single verified patch is put in the --patches field; nothing is applied automatically.
  • nid_patcher. Patches the imports of native executables or libraries in place, with --only-sce, --preserve-exports and --preserve-export-list. Asks for confirmation first.

Notes

  • Existing settings are kept. Every new option is off or empty by default.

v1.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@Lenny4250gh Lenny4250gh released this 23 Oct 23:44
65c4c62

What's new

New

  • Default output folder: when the output folder is empty, converted games now go to a Converted games folder next to the program (created automatically) instead of the program folder itself. Custom output folders are not affected.
  • Shortcuts use the real game title: shortcuts are named after the title read from param.json (e.g. Dreaming Sarah instead of PPSA02929). If the title can't be read, the old name is used.
  • Build jobs setting: new Build jobs (parallel compilers) option in Source build. Leave it empty for automatic.
  • Smarter automatic job count: on machines with plenty of RAM the build uses more CPU threads. It never uses fewer than before.

Improved

  • Browse PC game… (Play tab) now opens the folder picker in the output folder, so converted games are easy to find.
  • Discord Rich Presence now shows the current phase of a conversion. The first line stays Converting game (or Unwrapping game) and the second line changes: Preparing, Building relinker, Building libs, Preparing output folder, Copying game files / Moving game files, Moving .prx files, Unwrapping game files, Copying libs, Relinking, Creating shortcut, Checking imports, Finishing.
  • While building the relinker the status is now Building converter (relinker).

Fixed

  • Building the libs from the repository failed when the program path contained a space (e.g. AnyPS5 GUI), with cannot specify '-o' with '-c' … multiple files. The repository's CMake passed -include <path> without quotes. The app now quotes it automatically in its cloned copy before configuring. If the error still appears, the log explains the cause and the fix (use a short folder without spaces).
  • Discord status stuck after pressing Stop: it now goes back to In the launcher / Idle immediately, and a slower older update can no longer overwrite a newer one.

Removed

  • The Discord Playing / In-game status: the app can't tell when the game is closed, so it stayed stuck on "playing".

Notes

  • Games converted with an older version stay in their old folder. Use Browse PC game… to select them, or reconvert them into Converted games.
  • The first build of the libs from source is still long (about 2470 files). The prx-*.zip libs avoid it.

Added

Convert and Play workflow

  • Added a dedicated Converted PC game path, separate from the PS5 source folder used by Convert.
  • Launching a game and creating a shortcut now resolve the converted executable from the selected PC package. If no package path is supplied, the app attempts to find it in the configured output directory using the source game's name.
  • Added clearer Convert/Play navigation and a more distinct PS5 source-path panel.

Save data and trophies

  • Added a Game folders (saves and trophies) panel for the selected or last-launched converted package.
  • Open _sd, _sd_mem, and _trophy in the system file manager.
  • Export _sd and _sd_mem as timestamped ZIP backups to a folder chosen by the user.
  • Reset _trophy data with a confirmation prompt.
  • Detect app0/ampr_assets.index and show a warning that this can indicate a repacked ampr_emu dump requiring decompression.

Conversion patches and relinker options

  • Added a patch-file field for --patches, a file picker, and Verify patches to check compatibility against the selected unwrapped executable without writing changes.
  • Added --no-patches to explicitly ignore patch files. The GUI validates conflicts between --patches and --no-patches and checks that a specified patch file exists.
  • Added --linux-fixed-base and --macos-fixed-base, with target-specific validation for address format, range and 64 KiB alignment. Linux fixed-base rejects --lazy-binding.

Runtime options and tools

  • Added a performance-overlay toggle (ANYPS5_OVERLAY) and corner selection (ANYPS5_OVERLAY_POS). The overlay can be toggled in-game with F10.
  • Added a configurable F12 screenshots folder (ANYPS5_SCREENSHOTS), with a default anyps5-screenshots/ folder beside the game executable and an Open screenshots folder action.
  • Added shader-cache path configuration (ANYPS5_SHADER_CACHE_DIR), size inspection and clearing controls, plus ANYPS5_NO_SHADER_CACHE to disable the disk cache.
  • Added APS5_PLAYGO_UNLISTED_CHUNKS selection (installed / absent).
  • Added Test diagnostics (for bug reports), enabling extra profiling and timestamp variables and the Windows crash indirect-memory diagnostic variable.

Input and interface

  • Added the Stick modifier controller/keyboard mapping and configurable StickModifierScale for reduced keyboard stick movement while the modifier is held. No default key is assigned.
  • Added overlay-position options and expanded settings search terms for navigation, input, appearance and storage settings.
  • Improved Convert/Play tab spacing and mobile sizing.
  • Toast notifications now animate updated content and smoothly interpolate their size while a notification is already visible. The toast animation respects prefers-reduced-motion.

Discord Rich Presence

  • Added optional Discord Rich Presence integration (via pypresence): while the app is open, your Discord profile shows that you are using AnyPS5 GUI.
  • Added a Disable Discord Rich Presence option in the Appearance settings; it takes effect as soon as you save, with no restart needed.
  • If Discord is not running, or pypresence is not installed, the feature is silently skipped.

Diagnostics and reporting

  • Automatic log interpretation now detects host-import memory-budget and texture-cache diagnostic messages and explains the related variables (APS5_HOST_IMPORT_MIB and APS5_TEXTURE_CACHE_MIB), advising controlled comparisons rather than general-purpose tuning.

Notes and behavior

  • Shader-cache clearing affects the AnyPS5 cache directory selected by the app; it does not clear the GPU driver's cache. The cache may grow to several gigabytes, and clearing it means shaders may need to be rebuilt.
  • Save-data backup/reset operations apply to the package path shown by the app. Verify the selected package before changing game data.
  • The screenshot folder may be created only when the first screenshot is taken, depending on the configured path and runtime behavior.
  • The diagnostics option may reduce performance and should not be enabled for performance comparisons.

v1.0.9

@Lenny4250gh Lenny4250gh released this 19 Oct 16:41

What's new

Requirements check

  • CPU row: detects architecture, vendor and the extensions AnyPS5 needs (AVX2, FMA, F16C, BMI1/2, LZCNT, MOVBE) on Windows, Linux and macOS. Apple silicon is flagged (use the macOS target with --to-rosetta), and Intel CPUs are told to enable --to-intel.
  • GPU row: detects hardware GPUs via Vulkan (with an OS fallback). Warns about software renderers (llvmpipe, lavapipe, SwiftShader…), a missing Vulkan loader on Linux, multiple GPUs, or an ANYPS5_GPU filter that matches nothing.
  • Memory row (Windows): compares the free commit (RAM + page file) with the 13824 MiB of direct memory a title can commit.
  • Hint to run again after a DEVICE_LOST on a first run with AMD GPUs on Windows.

First-run defaults

  • With no config file, the GUI now picks options that fit your machine: target = host system, --to-intel on for Intel CPUs, --to-rosetta on for Apple silicon.

Test report export

  • Export report… replaces "Export log…" and "Copy log". It saves a text file following GAME_TESTING.md (points 1–8): build, title ID and content version, host (CPU, OS, GPU, power), target, runtime variables, --to-intel, progress, exit code, presents per 10 s and date.
  • Includes the full log (the title's anyps5.log / run.log when present, otherwise the GUI log) and an automatic reading of it, kept separate from measured data. It flags a software renderer, a stalled title, device lost, GPU out of memory and missing chmod +x.

Exit codes explained

  • When a game ends, the exit code is logged with a plain-language explanation (126 missing library, 139 segfault, 0xC0000005 access violation, 0xC0000409 abort, 124 timeout…). POSIX signals and Windows signed values are normalized.

Audit summary

  • The import audit now writes a .audit.json and logs a one-line summary: implemented / stub / absent / module counts, plus the first absent imports.

Launch protection

  • On Windows, launching is blocked with a clear message when MinGW runtime DLLs are missing from libs/, instead of error 126 on every library.

Changed

  • --to-rosetta moved from Conversion settings to the main screen, under the System selector. It is hidden (animated) with the Windows target and is now part of the Conversion reset.
  • ANYPS5_GPU field suggests the detected hardware GPUs.
  • Disabled text/combo boxes dim their titles like other disabled options, and state changes fade smoothly.
  • Text boxes, number boxes, text areas and combo boxes brighten on hover.
  • Slightly more spacing under the tagline.
  • Saving a file from the GUI now returns False if the dialog is cancelled.

v1.0.8

Choose a tag to compare

@Lenny4250gh Lenny4250gh released this 18 Oct 20:08
4f49483

What's new

  • Relink: .prx modules placed next to eboot.bin are now moved into sce_module on the copy of the game (libc.prx excluded), so they get unwrapped and relinked like the others. This fixes Failed to load module ... libs\<name>.prx for games with modules in the root folder. New option "Move the .prx next to eboot.bin into sce_module (copy only)", on by default. It is skipped when the game is moved instead of copied, so the original is never changed.

Other

  • Fixed some strings.

Fixes

  • Fixed an endless copy/move loop (progress far above 100%) when the output folder is inside the game folder. The tool now stops right away and asks you to choose another folder.
  • Cancelling an operation no longer shows "finished with errors"; it now shows "Operation cancelled", and successful runs show "completed successfully".
  • Fixed some general strings, animations and buttons.
  • The "Ready to" system in the "Convert a game" section has been updated.

Improvements

  • Clearer log messages (Moving/Copying progress, time remaining, disk space breakdown).
  • The trash folder now opens automatically when an incomplete folder is moved there. New setting: Open the trash folder automatically (on by default).
