OpticalSetup is a free optical workbench that runs in your browser.

Draw an optical setup on a virtual table and the light is traced through it as you build: mirrors fold the beam, lenses focus it, prisms and gratings disperse it, and everything updates when you move a component. Detectors read power, spectrum, polarization and pulse duration where the light lands.

What you can do with it:
• Build setups from more than 70 modelled optical elements: lasers, lenses, mirrors, modulators, fibers, nonlinear crystals, detectors and more
• Start from tens of ready-made examples, from telescopes and microscopes to interferometers and ultrafast systems
• Read how each element is modelled, and where the model stops, in the wiki
• Export paper-ready figures as SVG, PNG or animated GIF. Your figures are yours: use them for anything
• Share a setup as a link or QR code that opens it live, ready to edit

OpticalSetup is built for designing, understanding and communicating optical setups, in research, teaching and outreach. It is not a replacement for dedicated optical design software: it works in 2D and each model states its limits.

Free and open source. No account, no install, nothing stored on a server.
