First release of the code and data for "Build, Don't Play: Self-Improving LLM Research Agents Develop a Hearthstone Battlegrounds AI That Rivals Top Players".

• TavernGym: a faithful, full-content simulator of Hearthstone Battlegrounds solo mode (client 36.6.3.253932, all 978 game objects of the patch). Rust engine with Python bindings: single games, a Gym-style environment and a batched environment (245 actions with an exact legal mask, player-view observations, exact save and restore).
• TavernBench: 960 decision tasks in 40 scenarios across eight categories, the 368-task evaluation set, the answers of every system in the paper's results table, scoring code, model runners and a tool-use harness.

Install with pip install . (Python 3.10+, Rust toolchain). The trained agent, its weights and training code are not included.
