MangoMemory 0.1.4

Choose a tag to compare

@raulmangolin raulmangolin released this 30 Oct 17:25

A fix for downloading MangoMemory by hand.

Fixed

  • The download from GitHub could show "MangoMemory.app Not Opened" after you unzipped it with some tools, even though the app is signed and notarized. The zip no longer contains the hidden files that caused it, and every release is now checked by unzipping it the plain way before it ships.

Nothing else changed. If MangoMemory updated itself before, it keeps working the same way.

Install

MangoMemory 0.1.3 and later update themselves: gear › Check for Updates…
Otherwise download MangoMemory-0.1.4.zip, unzip it, and replace MangoMemory.app in Applications.
Your settings and the helper approval carry over. Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.

MangoMemory 0.1.3

@raulmangolin raulmangolin released this 30 Oct 15:50

MangoMemory now updates itself.

Added

  • Check for Updates… in the gear menu, and Check for updates automatically in Settings › General. When a new version is out, MangoMemory shows what changed, downloads it, checks its signature, and installs it in place. Your settings and the helper approval carry over.
  • If a daily check finds an update while you're busy, the gear in the memory window gets a small dot until you look at it.

Privacy

The update check is the only new network use: once a day, MangoMemory downloads the list of releases from mangocorporation.github.io. It sends nothing else, and you can turn it off in Settings › General.

Install

MangoMemory 0.1.3 and later update themselves: gear › Check for Updates…
Otherwise download MangoMemory-0.1.3.zip, unzip it, and replace MangoMemory.app in Applications.
Your settings and the helper approval carry over. Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.

MangoMemory 0.1.2

@raulmangolin raulmangolin released this 30 Oct 12:50

A small fix to the CPU figure in the window footer.

Fixed

  • The "MangoMemory: … % CPU" footer is steady now. It used to measure only the last 2 seconds, so opening the window or hovering a row could make it read as high as 8 %. It now averages the last 10 seconds, like Activity Monitor, and starts fresh each time you open the window. With the window open and idle, MangoMemory uses about 0.5 % CPU.

Install

Download MangoMemory-0.1.2.zip, unzip it, and replace MangoMemory.app in Applications. Your settings and the helper approval carry over. The app is signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.

MangoMemory 0.1.1

@raulmangolin raulmangolin released this 30 Oct 12:47

A small update that makes MangoMemory lighter when you're not looking at it.

Fixed

  • Lower CPU use with the window closed. MangoMemory now idles at about 0.5 % CPU and 14 MB, down from 3–5 % CPU in 0.1. Two causes:
    • After you closed the window, MangoMemory could keep updating it in the background, re-reading every app's memory and redrawing every 2 seconds.
    • Settings sync checked all your settings on every memory reading, not only when you changed one.

Install

Download MangoMemory-0.1.1.zip, unzip it, and replace MangoMemory.app in Applications. Your settings and the helper approval carry over. The app is signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.

MangoMemory 0.1

@raulmangolin raulmangolin released this 30 Oct 12:37

The first release of MangoMemory: an honest menu bar memory app for macOS 26 on Apple silicon.

What it does

  • Memory pressure in the menu bar. The chip glyph is plain at Normal, yellow at High, and filled red at Critical. Next to it: available memory, pressure %, or nothing.
  • The memory window (click the item, or ⌃⌥M from any app):
    • pressure, a breakdown that matches Activity Monitor, and the last hour of pressure
    • the five apps using the most memory, with Quit and Force Quit
  • Clear File Cache runs Apple's /usr/sbin/purge through a small helper, then reports what it really emptied, e.g. "Cleared 1.8 GB · pressure 53 % → 52 %".
  • Automation: clear automatically when pressure stays high or after a big app quits, with one 3-minute cooldown.
  • One quiet notification when pressure turns Critical, naming the top app, with a Quit button.
  • Pin the window so it floats while you work, use it with the keyboard alone, and sync settings across your Macs through iCloud Drive.

Install

  1. Download MangoMemory-0.1.zip, unzip it, and move MangoMemory.app to Applications. It's signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
  2. Open it. It lives in the menu bar, with no Dock icon.
  3. To clear the file cache, click Allow Helper…, then turn MangoMemory on in System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions.

The helper runs as root and does exactly one thing: it runs purge. It only answers MangoMemory signed by our team. MangoMemory has no analytics and no accounts, and needs no network except iCloud Drive if you sync settings.

Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.
